The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
First topic message reminder :
Hamjambo. Karibuni Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to visit pub regular MBTGOG on his big trip there. Maisha marefu! Afya! Vifijo!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sir Fred "The Needle" Allen, Aberdeen Shikoyi, Isoa Damudamu, Chris "Mossy" Patterson, Nathan Hines and Simon Danielli. The poor defenseless IRB referee's jersey draped over the dartboard is fair game though

Afternoon all.
I see I can't leave you lot alone for a few hours without the tone dropping considerably!!
Bad news....There is absolutely no way we will get to Twickenham.
Good news...At least we were right to back the chance of the wee fella qualifying for the Ulsters.!!!!
Very proud mum!

Pity Mrs P.
Great for Nigel Owens. I thought he deserved it. Hope he does well. I think that means Risca's presentation evening is moving to the following week though, as he's our speaker. That means I can't go collect all my awards in person.
Still on a high about the Keys. Think I might get a ticket up there instead of down Dragons next year. Serious.

I'm not disappointed Rev.
Now if we had decided not to go and then he hadn't qualified I would have been disappointed for him.
I'm happy enough although we may have to watch in time lapse!
Unless....
Does anyone happen to own a tardis?

MrsP - congratulations to MasterP. I'm sure when you're watching him any thought of the final will be a distant one
Also chuffed to see the Blues going back to the Arms Park. That's great news for this city. I'll probably go and watch a few things up there now just cause I enjoyed it so much last time I went and the atmos was better. Definitely go to see the O's and Ulster games anyway
Oh and evening all, hope everyone's well.

Evening Cari. Lovely sunny one it is as well.
So, its official then that The Blues return to the Arms Park. Can only be a good thing for them. I hope that the City gets behind them now and they are playing to bigger crowds with a better atmosphere. I might just join you at an Ulster game there in the future.

They will Rava. A lot of fans stayed away from the CCS precisely because they didn't like the Blues being based there. They've been nagging for ages to get back at AP, so I think it'll be a good thing for the club and surrounding businesses. Would like to see the O's do something similar now...
The sun's gone away from here now, but it was lovely earlier.

Good news for Bath and Cardiff then.
Did the Blues have to pay much to get out of the CCS deal or have they not said?

Mike Schutte a retired heavyweight boxer in SA is sitting in the park on a bench next to Jimmy Abbot another retired heavyweight boxer.
They are watching Jimmy's Bulldog licking his privates, so Jimmy turns to Mike and asks him.
"Can you do that?"
Mike looks at Jimmy and says " Are you nuts, he'll bite me."

I understand there's an island somewhere in Polynesia that has a simplified system of counting, they have three numbers; one, two and another number that roughly translates as "many".
Right there, that's my kind of Maths.

I kinda prefer a simpler method.
there is one
and there is more than one.
Sa rugby game plans work on that basis. Every movement has one pass. Any movemoent which requires more than one pass is taboo and not required.
We won two world cups that way.

No mate, more than one world cup isn't confusing, where as more than one pass is far too complex for our simple minded boertjies.

You see Rava, when other nation's coaches, commentators or players discuss gameplans, it is about when and how the overlap was created etc.
with us it is all about, THE bash, THE pass, THE tackle, THE offload, THE kick or THE try ( sadly we usually only score one of those in a match anyway).

Well it doesn't mean three if that is where you are going.
It merely means scoring a touchdown.

Oh yeah, I remember now - being a Bath fan it's easily forgotten, I think the last try Bath scored was worth 4 points, rumour has it they're going to try and score another one soon, maybe as early as next season...

I've often said the Amlin has the intrinsic competetive edge that the Heino just doesn't, what with all the "fake" resting of key players that goes on with all the Provinces leading up to HC matches, it has to be said that as a level playing field the Heino is a totally devalued competition and barely worth the designation of a tinpot cup - let alone the presumption of being THE European Cup competition.
Honestly, with all their bull and bluster, you'd think the Irish were going to win it again this year...
Wait for me!

You know what I've noticed?
Whenever Racing Metro or Castres or Montpellier- even Leinster this year- rest key players in the Heineken Cup group stages once their fate is sealed, nobody calls it a devalued competition.

He is doing great PJ, I was alittle angry with the wife as she carelessly left a glass on the floor little more than a month ago and my son put his hand through it and got quite a nasty gash on his palm.
It was almost healed and then due to being an 8 year old played in the dirt and got an infection in it which meant he missed 5 weeks of training and rugby.
Luckily there was a school holiday inbetween which meant he only missed 3 friendlies, but went back last week and immediately got back in the team.
The coach has put him on 1,2 and 3 now, and last match he played he had to scrum against a kid quite a bit heavier than him, I don't know if you recall the photo's I put on here of him, but he isn't the biggest kid around for his age. Maybe short and stocky would be the best description of him.
Anyway with the first engagement of the scrum his opposing prop slapped him in the face and him being a mild hearted kid I thought it might intimidate him.
No chance mate, he scrummed seven sorts of Shoite out of his opponent.
I couldn't be prouder.

Haha good on him!! I play 1-2-3 and am only 14 stone yet, and I hope penfro will back me up here....I've proven to these valley boys who can be 20stone plus that technique is everything. Let the lad continue to play all across but pick on main position to have as first choice. Versatility is key in this day and age!!

Pop, I myself was only 92 kg when I played club rugby at loosehead and can vouch that technique is more important than bulk.
I have to say it seems the lad inherited my strengths in the leg and back department, I do agree he mst pick a position, but for now I think any exposure is good for him.
My preferred position for him would be hooker though, I just think you get to do a bit more there.
