The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to The Patch - a tiny rugby union* community nestled in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne in the week before the AFL Grand Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Willie Falloon, Joel Conlon, Peter Murchie, Lewis Jetta, Lance "Buddy" Franklin and Frazier Climo.

Mrs As only buys organic. So she is saving the day for real food. And milk.
But Glas is right, invest in apples. Cos it don´t rain in Indianapolis in the Summertime.

There you are then. Cheers Penfro.
At least they publish all the leagues I want to read. Don't think they do Risca 2's kind of level, but that's nitpicking. At least they offer a lot more leagues than the Beeb etc.

Oh well, I'll post a brief update on some of the Welsh players plying their trade in France. Courtesy of TRPs weekly round ups.
James Hook - going very well for Perpignan, despite another season of toil for the Catalans (W2 - L4). He has signed an amendment his contract allowing him to leave in the close season if Perpignan do not qualify for the HC.
Gethin Jenkins - not much to report, and was on the bench for Toulon last weekend. W6 - L0
Mike Phillips - the Bayonne crowd are getting on his back after several lacklustre performances. Doesn't help when you're hockeyed 6-35 at home though (by Toulouse). W1 - L5.
Aled Brew - going great guns at Biarritz in the early games. No try this week*. W5 -L1
* but there is a pic...

I have been reading about Bayonne's struggles. I would rather play them first now, instead of a trip to Gomez Park.
So happy for Brewy, but by Christ do we miss him.

Only Mont de Marsan keeping Bayonne off the bottom, Rev.
Of course you're missing Brewy; a very good finisher, and he tracks play well.
The Amlin pool may be a shoot out between our teams if Bayonne decide to field a weakened team to concentrate on the T14.

- thanks for that update. It's good to know how the lads are doing en France. The interview with Brew and Phillips on Scrum V last Sunday was interesting. Catch it on the iPlayer if you can get that.
Swanny - I was only thinking about how you're doing up there. Must be drenched I expect. It's raining again here now. I love watching TGBBO. Bad idea watching it if you're hungry though

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
ooooooh a dilemma.
Just bought myself a tartan skirt online, looking for boots to go with it, and I've found some. Only ya know a teeeeensy problem in that they are £100.
Well I lie, they're actually£99.95.
Still. Ouch. Why can't they be less?!

Cari - I don't think I can access that on the phone. You are lucky to have Scrum S4/C etc. The cost cutting Beeb dropped the regional channels from freeview a while back.

Hi Cari, we're doing ok just here, thanks for thinking of us I went out earlier in the car and there is a lot of standing water around. The dual carriageway at the bottom of the village (about 2 miles away) looks like a lake in places. We seem to have escaped the worst of it though, some areas here have really struggled.
TGBBO is great isn't it?! Makes me hungry watching it even after I've had my tea! Take my hat off to those taking part. The variety of stuff they have to produce is tough, I'd fall at the pastry. It's my nemesis

Oh that's a shame Hound. I guess you only use the phone then, not a PC? I would be on the iPlayer for anywhere I think.
Dreamer - There are lots of shops that do perfectly good clothing and footwear but at a much cheaper price, so shop somewhere else. You'll probably get the same sort of designs that you want. Also depends on how much you'd wear them as well I reckon. Are tartan skirts and boots back in fashion?! That's so '90s...I suddenly feel old. You'll all be wearing puffa jackets next...

Glad you're all right up there Swanny I heard it was pretty bad in the North of the country. Did you see what they got in Aberdeen though? Freaky!

Well if you're paying that much for a pair of boots, I'd hope you'd like to wear them alot. A good par of Doc Martens are much less than that, and they last for yonks. I love mine. Always have a good pair of Docs in my house.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
ah my ankles are too scrawny for Doc Martens Cari, look blinkin ridiculous with them on which is horrible because I really really like the look of them
My last pair of expensive boots I think were £80 and they've lasted me 5 years, so they are deffo worth investing in if you can find a good pair.
hmmmmmm.....
but on a much brighter note, just had confirmation through that my match ticket for Clermont v Scarlets has been booked
Everything booked for that now, soooo SO can not wait!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
Thanks for the concern people We are ok, honestly, this little bit is kind of protected. It is very, very wet, I'm not denying that, but we don't suffer from floods like others do. We're just up in the hills so most of it flows down and away from us. Some poor souls have got it pretty bad though.
Dreamer, these boots. I confess I've paid that much for a pair of boots but I've had them for years and wear them regularly. Look at it this way. You pay what, £30.00, for a pair of everyday boots that you wear frequently and regularly until they're knackered then you throw them out. If these boots will last and you'll get your money's worth out of them then do it.
And I agree with Cari on the DM's. I've worn them for years and love them, I currently have 2 pairs on the go. There are ways to disguise thin ankles, don't let that put you off.
If you'll definitely wear the boots and they put a smile on your face then blydi go for it

aaah Swanny that's like being a little on my shoulder!

Glad you've missed the worst of the weather mind, it's been utterly awful in some places.

I have a pair of Doctor Martens as my work boots. I'm office based, but I have to go out into the yard to help out a fair bit and shoes would get wrecked in no time (I know this from experience). Mine weren't that expensive, I got them in a sale and they were definitely under £80, if not under £70.
Anyway, time for !
