The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to The Patch - a tiny rugby union* community nestled in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne in the week before the AFL Grand Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Willie Falloon, Joel Conlon, Peter Murchie, Lewis Jetta, Lance "Buddy" Franklin and Frazier Climo.

Lucky – I assume you will be getting the supporters’ coach to the Wasps game?? If so, it will depend where the coach drops you off and when. If it is at the ground just before kick off I may not see you, but if the coach drops you off in town then head for The Bootlegger opposite the train station. We are usually lurking to the rear of the left side of the bar.

Your disgusting talking about touching a 15 year old. You English are all the same*

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
It's a coach of us going down but I don't know what the plan is for when (or where) we arrive. They've done trips down there before so maybe they go to the Bootlegger first. Rev would probably know.
Stag, it's not the kind of thing I'd choose to watch, but each to his own, like.

I know that it probably doesn't need saying as people say it often enough, but I love this pub and the people in it. PJ, through some sound advice and giving me some information has just stopped me from getting fleeced on the roofing repairs that I need. Top man.
PJ, I owe you a pint (or four) if we ever get onto the same pub meet up. Thanks mate.

Good man PJ. Yeah Pete, sometimes this place is like a latter-day Kibbutz. Or a real local. Local advice and help for local people. Proper.
Pete, PJ is coming down to the Exeter v Leinster game in Jan. Try and make that one bud. Chef, Rav, As, Hoog, Hoogs folks, my Bro & sis-in-law, me and a host of others are gathering for that one.

Last time, we went straight to the ground, but the weather dictated that. When I went to Gloucester and Sale, they went in a pub beforehand so I'd imagine they'd be open for suggestions. I am tempted to book on now, but I might be away.
Happy birthday Aslan

Gibbo, i am all over that one mate, just trying to sort out some childcare for the mini O's, with my sister who lives just outside Bath (so halfway down to Exeter) looking favourite at present.

If that's the case Rev, I'll suggest the Bootlegger.
I'm really looking forward to it, and the trip to Parc y Scarlets. I've never been to a Dragons away game before.

The trip to Parc Y Slumlets is off now Lucky. Looks like there aren't enough people.
I need to get down to this Exeter v Leinster game in Jan. Though with my 100% record, I doubt As will want me there.

Is it definitely off? I thought they were giving it more time to see if they could get the 40 people they needed.
EDIT: Looks like you're right. It's disappointing that so few want to go.

Anyone else see this thing between Donegal GAA manager and the journalist.
A crying shame that this has now replaced Donegal winning as the story of the day.

PJ, steady yer hand to this, sir:
MrsP, happy anniversary ( - there's still time, I haven't given up hope!) and many congratulations to P1
In the words of the American naturalist, Ernest Thompson Seton: "...the joyful, keen and fearless otter; mild and loving to his own kind, and gentle with his neighbour of the stream; full of play and gladness in his life, full of courage in his stress; ideal in his home, steadfast in death; the noblest little soul that ever went four-footed through the woods."

Ain't otters just the cutest cudliest little blighters? Having said that, I read a book once (may have been by Gavin Maxwell but not sure) where this guy had an otter he'd raised from a cub (?), it was playing round his legs one morning and bit him on the calf. It severed an artery and nearly killed him!
Beware of otters, danger with furry faces.

Hope everyone's swell. Stuff here has thankfully quietened down over the last few days. Though I imagine it'll pick up again before the rugby starts this weekend.

Some of my mates are fisherman - they hate otters because they will wontonly kill all the fish in a lake. They don't eat them all, they just kill them.
Perhaps they're biased.
I love Otters.

Ahhh, you're cute Rav - but the otter takes it.
Gibbo, anything in particular I should watch out for on a night out with Rava? Is he another disciple of the rope ting?
Willy, good to see you back you've been in my thoughts.
Swanny, word clearly travels fast in da pub. I can't help much, but I'll do what I can, if he's a neighbour, he's unlikely to shoite on his own doorstep - so to speak - but even so, remember this, roof repairs are rarely as expensive as people think, and if the problem has only just occurred it's likely to be a small one. Even a 99% sound roof can be breached by lots of rain with high wind factors.
PM me if you have any questions when your neighbour has had a butcher's.
Cottage pie and veg for dinner. Whoot! Whoot!
