The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to The Patch - a tiny rugby union* community nestled in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne in the week before the AFL Grand Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Willie Falloon, Joel Conlon, Peter Murchie, Lewis Jetta, Lance "Buddy" Franklin and Frazier Climo.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
Can a radio advert be "graphic"?
To me for something to be "graphic" it has to have a visual component.
I understand what they mean but I'm not sure "graphic" is the appropriate word?

Why has the Aborigini got a Blaenau Ffestiniog accent?

Which advert is this, MrsP? Maybe 'explicit' would be a better word.

That's what I thought Glas.
It is of no consequence really it's just one of those things that strikes me as incongruous.
It's an advert about Farm safety.

Yeah, I know the definition is wide. It just strikes me as inappropriate to call a sound "graphic".

I'd have to cut off both his arms to stop feeding him! He is constantly in the kitchen "topping-up".

Tried buying tickets for Mumford and Sons this morning and failed (due to the touts), then I log on here and see an advert for Viagogo, which is one of the rip off Frak websites. Furious.

Rev, in my line of work I come across a lot of these kind of things. How Viagogo get away with it I'll never know. Not alone are they partially owned by Ticketmaster but they actually have official contracts with some top football clubs in UK allowing them to officially tout tickets in order to skew the market (drive up demand for a match that isnt selling for example).

I can't see me helping their coffers out now. I will probably get the album though
Stag, it's an absolute joke. As I said elsewhere, bands want people to buy their music, but then allow them to be priced out of watching them perform live.

Munster announced their Heineken Cup squad. Half of the 38 man squad are under 25. Good to see.

Well he leapfrogged Scott Deasy who was ahead of him to get into the ERC squad - played his first match last week. I'd say he is likely to sit the next 3-4 matches out (Ospreys away, Leinster away, Racing Metro away, Edinburgh home) and play then.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
I saw him play in the under-20s Six Nations last season (or the season before?) and he's a class act, no question.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
Luckless he is a superstar. I know Rory_Gallagher always remembers it. I refereed him in a schools game about two years ago and I raved about him for about a week solid on here. I have never seen a player so good at that age apart from Keith Earls.
I made the point on another thread that until about 18 months ago I was worried about the future of Munster.
However we have made a massive effort to develop young Irish players and supplement them with a small number of top class foreigners. I think that the future is looking well. If you look at a backline like:
09 Conor Murray
10 JJ Hanrahan
11 Simon Zebo
12 James Downey
13 Keith Earls
14 Luke O'Dea
15 Ian Keatley
If you rewind back just over 18 months ago none of these guys would have been close to playing for us. Now I would send those backs into the league games with confidence.
Same with backrows - we had Leamy, Wallace, Quinlan, Coughlan and Ronan as our five main backrows for so long. Now we are seeing Peter O'Mahony, Dave O'Callaghan, Sean Dougall (all 22 years old and currently our best backrow) along with Paddy Butler, Tommy O'Donnell and young CJ Stander will be arriving shortly.
You can see the one that is being worked hammer and tongs at the moment is to develop props. We have Kilcoyne and Archer playing every second match now to get them up to speed. We send John Ryan and Alan Cotter over to the Premiership on short term loans. We can't go signing more foreigners after Botha and du Preez leave so they need developing.

Afternoon all,
Settled into the golf
So far its
Rory and Gmac 1 down through 3 against Furik and Snedeker
Donald and Sergio 1 down through 2 against Mickelson and Bradley
Westwood and Molinari 1 up through 1 Duffner and zac Johnson
Poulter and Rose just tee'd off against Woods and Stricker and woods just hit a fricking stinker of a tee shot. Will be lucky to have a lie for the shot

That's terrible news.
How are the crowds, Hughie? I know the American team were talking about wanting their home support to be as vocal as the European home support.

Stag, he'll learn Porthcawl on the bench. Your spoiling him. Send him to Connacht if you're going to waste his best years.
I love Llanelli. Simple yes/no question on a form:
"Are you aware of the property having been burgled?"
Answer:
"Definitely never"

Vocal enough, the usual USA USA USA chants from the Septic Tanks
Stricker was just eyeing up his shot and all you cab see is a langer with a big grin on him in the Cork jersey

+ 1 (send him to Ulster.) We will nurture him. Think of the rivalry between him and Jackson.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
Let Jackson off. Sometimes a guy needs to know he is first choice before he can come into his own. Look at guys like Rory Best and Jonny Sexton who lacked the bottle to deal with a bit of pressure from Jerry Flannery and Ronan O'Gara. However once they knew they were first choice they got better.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
Right
Rory and Gmac 1 up
Westwood and Molinari 1up
Rose and Poulter 1 up
Sergio and Donald AS

Sure JJ can always end up like Donnacha Ryan. A great international class player now. One of first names on Irish team sheet these days. . . . . . . . .however he turns 29 in eight weeks.

Glas a du wrote:Sorry Rava but what rivalry would that be? Hanrahan would be clear first choice no?
No, Jackson was first choice for the U20 in last seasons 6N. He would also have been if he had gone to the Junior WC. Hanrahan is very good but so too is Jackson. I think a lot of people only remember Jackson for three performances in the latter stages of the HC last year.
