The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Taihape - The Gumboot Capital of the World!
http://www.taihape.co.nz/
We also welcome our newest member, Amber ...who no doubt will have an interest in those boots!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Aaron Smith, Topsy Ojo, Jason Shoemark, Tom Rees, Gonzalo Garcia, Leo the Leinster Lion and Lalakai Foketi up on the wall.

I could tell you but it would potentially spoil the ending of the last book, suffice to say my answer was written in the style of the book - something like " he crapped his chino's and passed out from loike, embarrassment?"

That's fair enough thought Hughie, my geography of Ireland isn't the best.

I love Boris Johnson's speaches. He effectively gets up and runs through an hour of comedic material with the odd policy thrown in. Riveting stuff.

Discussion: We all have great stories about meeting rugby players who took the time to sign things, meet the fans and did it in nicest possible way.
Have you every been let down after meeting a top class rugby player who was just rude.

The only rugby player I've ever met (as in spoken to) is Charlie Faulkner. We were in a pub so I didn't ask him to sign anything.

I remember when Leinster played Racing Metro in the RDS there was a gang of kids outside the changing room waiting for Chabal to come through, he had 2 body gaurds and wouldn't stop for anyone. Then i heard a fella say to his son "don't worry about him, here comes Frans Steyne, he's won a world cup", and Frans Steyne stopped and signed stuff for the kid. Which was nice. But yeah, Chabal's a bell end, and he was never really all that good in the first place.

Bad: Mark Ring-spoke at our dinner and was just whining. Henson (shock horror)-spoke to him years ago after a match, said I thought he played well and he glared and pushed past me, james hook apologised onhis behalf!!
Best: Rick o'shea-partying till 3am at our club dinner one year. Adam Jones (dragons 2nd row)-played touch with him down roath park with mates and just a very down to earth guy...he gave me a couple of shocking passes too!!

Really? That's not good to hear! At least he apologised though.

I've met a good few Ulster players and to a man they have been very friendly and approachable. I can't think of any bad experiences.
I shook hands with Marcus Horan after the recent game with Munster. That was nice because we are both around the same age.

My grandad was telling me that when he was a boy he met John Hayes after a match. John would have been only in his late 20s then - he said he was no craic at all.

There is only one Munster player I have found to be unapproachable and when he does smile with fans it appears to be smiling through gritted teeth.
I wont mention names but he can't tackle, he can't get the backline moving and he should be wearing #22 instead of #10 this weekend against Racing Metro.

I've never had a bad experience meeting a rugby player.
My brawd had his picture taken with Percy Montgomery once, said Percy was moody and not very friendly.
Then again mind, I have this irrational dislike of Percy, so maybe that's coloured my memory a bit

I’d say you’re a better scrummager.

Hmm I've met a few about over the years. I've been disappointed with all of them because they made me look short in the photos.
So far I haven't managed to catch up with Paul Marshall or Shane Williams though.....

Oh, just thought I'd say that I watched Magical Mystery Tour on the iPlayer last night. It's really not that good at all, but the psychedelic bit set to 'Flying' was niiice.

It wasn't a call centre. It was office work. The other job paid an additional €7,000 per annum.
However, the Craic > Money
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
Aw man, thats not a bad wee job!
There are worse things to get paid for. Happy belated birthday btw! I wasn't in here on the day.

Lucky, I'll dazzle them with my new found wit.
Im not sure how they'll react to hearing my new love of the Dragons. Its kind of like when some inner city Limerick type tells you that their 17 year old daughter is pregnant. You feel sorry for them even though they are happy with the situation.
I've always wanted to give someone news and witness the emotional struggle. Telling people I like the Dragons will do that.
