The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Taihape - The Gumboot Capital of the World!
http://www.taihape.co.nz/
We also welcome our newest member, Amber ...who no doubt will have an interest in those boots!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Aaron Smith, Topsy Ojo, Jason Shoemark, Tom Rees, Gonzalo Garcia, Leo the Leinster Lion and Lalakai Foketi up on the wall.

I absolutely love it, it’s the perfect size for us now so the amount of people who pretty much fill it up is the same as the amount of people who go to a match to watch it. unlike the Aviva where you get 30k part time fans along who have no interest in the game and they’re just there for a night out.
I’ve been to:
Donnybrook
Tallaght Stadium
RDS
Aviva
The Stoop
Wembley
Twickenham
CCS
Millenium Stadium
Ravenhill
Thomond
Murrayfield
Think that’s it… Hmm, not too many then…
I think it's just because it's not a proper stadium mick, hopefully with the redevelopment planned they will close off the corners and make it into a single tier bowl of about 20-22000. Having the ground.enclosed at all ends would increase the atmosphere no end

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
Just seen this on Facebook. Have to say I really really hope its true
THIS IS AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER REVIEW FROM A MAN ON AMAZON.CO.UK AFTER USING VEET HAIR REMOVAL CREAM FOR MEN.
After having been told my danglies looked like an elderly Rastafarian I decided to take the plunge and buy some of this as previous shaving attempts had only been mildly successful and I nearly put my back out trying to reach the more difficult bits.
Being a bit of a romantic I thought I would do the deed on the missus's birthday as a bit if a treat.
I ordered it well in advance and working in the North Sea I considered myself a bit above some of the characters writing the previous reviews and wrote them off as soft office types...
Oh my fellow sufferers how wrong I was.
I waited until the other half was tucked up in bed and after giving some vague hints about a special surprise I went down to the bathroom.
Initially all went well and I applied the gel and stood waiting for something to happen.
I didn't' have have long to wait.
At first there was a gentle warmth which in a matter of seconds was replaced by an intense burning and a feeling I can only describe as like being given a barbed wire wedgie by two people intent on hitting the ceiling with my head.
Religion hadn't featured much in my life until that night but I suddenly became willing to convert to any religion to stop the violent burning around the turd tunnel and what seemed like the destruction of the meat and two veg.
Struggling not to bite through my bottom lip I tried to wash the gel off in the sink and only succeeded in blocking the plughole with a mat of hair. Through the haze of tears I struggled out of the bathroom across the hall into the kitchen, by this time walking was not really possible and I crawled the final yard to the fridge in the hope of some form of cold relief.
I yanked the freezer drawer out and found a tub of ice cream, took the lid off and positioned it under me.
The relief was fantastic but only temporary as it melted fairly quickly and the fiery stabbing returned.
Due to the shape of the ice cream tub I hadn't managed to give the starfish any treatment and I groped around in the draw for something else as I was sure my vision was going to fail fairly soon.
I grabbed a bag of what I later found out was frozen sprouts and tore it open trying to be quiet as I did so.
I took a handful of them and an tried in vain to clench some between the cheeks of my arse. This was not doing the trick as some of the gel had found its way up the chutney channel and it felt like the space shuttle was running its engines behind me.
This was probably and hopefully the only time in my life I was going to wish there was a gay snowman in the kitchen which should give you some idea of the depths I was willing to sink to in order to ease the pain.
The only solution my pain crazed mind could come up with was to gently ease one of the sprouts where no veg had gone before.
Unfortunately, alerted by the strange grunts coming from the kitchen the other half chose that moment to come and investigate and was greeted by the sight of me, arse in the air, strawberry ice cream dripping from my bell end pushing a sprout up my arse while muttering arhhh ooooohhh that feels good ahhh
Understandably this was a shock to her and she let out a scream and as I hadn't heard her come in it caused an involuntary spasm of shock in myself which resulted in the sprout being ejected at quite some speed in her direction.
I can understand that having a sprout fired against your leg at 11 at night in the kitchen probably wasn't the special surprise she was expecting and having to explain to the kids the next day what the strange hollow in the ice cream was didn't improve my status so to sum it up.....
VEET removes hair, dignity and self-respect

Smaug is now following me on Twitter, again its a weird one, am hoping its some sort of sign...
Also, what is a small unit of measurement and also a creature that lives in the garden?
(i know the answer and my Mam was amused as to why)

Ah yeah, it would be alright I suppose. Silicon Valley is basically an industrial estate though, I’d get to see the google headquarters all the same!
What’s the answer? I’m an engineer, I love units of measurement*!
*It had better be metric and it had better be SI

Aye it was something about it being the smallest unit of measurement or something. It was all very intellectual sounding (but then it always is on ONly Connect)
Honestly, it's my fave quiz show, I barely ever suss out the wall though! You can have a go yourselves here:

Ive been lucky enough to get to a good few stadiums for rugby especially over the last 18 months.
Ireland:
Thomond Park
Croke Park
Lansdowne Road
Musgrave Park
Ravenhill
I haven't been to the RDS or the Sportsgrounds yet. However I am headed to the RDS this Saturday for Leinster v Chiefs.
England:
Twickenham
The Rec, Bath
Sandy Park, Exeter
Franklin Gardens, Northampton
I would really love to visit Kingsholm and Welford Road
Wales:
Millennium Stadium
Cardiff City Stadium
Pairc y Scarlets
Rodney Parade would be great to visit. No real interest in going to Liberty Stadium.
Scotland - I have never been to a match in Scotland. Will hopefully get to Murrayfield in February.
France:
Stade de France
Stade Ernest Wallon
Stade Municipal Toulouse
Stade Chaban Delmas
Getting to Perpignan, Biarritz and Clermont are my priorities here.
Italy: Never been to Italy but I am going to Rome for Italy v Ireland this year.
Outisde of Europe: Never been yet but am lucky enough to be going to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in June.
Ireland:
Thomond Park
Croke Park
Lansdowne Road

The RDS is a great spot stag. I love the place.
It’s got it all, good atmosphere, close to town, close to pubs, loads of space in and around it for people to eat/drink no big queues, toilets are grand, supporters bar out the back etc.
Can’t fault it, and the plans to do it up will make it even better. I’m biased of course.

Ah you still having tooth pain from the other day?
If they prescribe you antibiotics, make sure you get the ones you can drink on!
Dentists are fine generally, tis more the noise of the cleaning things that makes it horrible. Just sing yerself a song in your head and you'll be fine.

Definitely antibiotics then I would say Hoog as tis just what I had with my stupid wisdom tooth last month.
Remember though, get the ones you can drink on! Take maybe 2 days longer to clear it but they still work.
(Note: you are advised that even though whilst you can drink on them, you are not supposed to go crazy with how much you drink. I confess after a couple of jager bombs I forgot said instructions but sure, it didn't do me any harm )

I saw an episode of Star Trek for the first time last night. For what its worth Klingon does sound a lot like Welsh.

I've never watched the Chase. I flicked over to Only Connect after University Challenge once and didn't stick with it long. I love University Challenge - and now I think of it, that's where they asked the slug question.

I've met one of the Chaser's (the really tall and rather large one) when I was in a pub in the Diff with Penfro. I don't mind it, but Bardley Walsh is it? he really annoys me on it.
Aye I love University Challenge too. Watch that at 8pm, then switch over to Only Connect then on BBC4 at 8.30. Like to finish my Mondays with at least the semblence of pretending to be smart

ha too true Hoog. My record has moved up to 5 questions right in one show this series.
And I just love how irritated Jeremy Paxman gets when the teams get them wrong. He was sooo annoyed on mondays show.

I'm useless on the maths and science questions, but otherwise I usually get a few right. I love getting the English ones right when teams with English students on the team don't know the answer!

Aye I love University Challenge too. Watch that at 8pm, then switch over to Only Connect then on BBC4 at 8.30. Like to finish my Mondays with at least the semblence of pretending to be smart
The Beast Mark Labett (spelling). I saw him training when I was in DW in Zooport. He was trying his best to do some sit-ups, bless him.
Just got two cats (being delivered next week). From a rescue centre near Barry's Island. Fell in love straight away. Always thought I'd end up with a dog, but I do get on better with cats generally. One male, one female.

Wouldn't surprise me. Welsh has influenced many many languages in the sci-fi genre Evlish being the most famous obviously
What series was it anyway, and how on earth have you never watched it before??

He was, wasn't he?
I love it when teams have really irritating students on them, it's much more satisfying when they lose. The problem is when they do well. The captain of last year's winning team was an absolute knobcheese.

That's great, Rev. I love cats. Dogs are great too, but I love cats because they retain some of their independence. If you stopped feeding a dog, it would stay with you. A cat would leave like that.

Ah cats are lovely. Prefer dogs myself but my cat is proper ctwchy, she's ace. What types are they, and have you names? They'll be climbing up your legs and attacking your feet mind!
