The Stratospheric Supersonic Dew Drop Inn, Roswell, New Mexico
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to "sleepy" Roswell New Mexico, take off point for the first ever supersonic free-fall this week.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Felix Baumgartner and Chris Budgen up on the wall.

"Harrow -I'm fearing an O's drubbing tomorrow."
I don't think so. Tigers are not what they were. If Salvi doesn't play for them it will be a big blow. He's a quality 7.
Their backs are nothing special this season so far.

Our backs aren't much better. I think the battle will be up front again - Tandy's sent up the same side that won last week, so we'll see...

Cari, it's his loss. You're a total babe.
Rava, you're totally welcome bud. Must have been a turbocharged Van though, he didn't hit the post office till about 5pm Thursday!

Well no, it's been my loss too, and one that I don't think anyone really gets over in their lifetime (being rejected by their parent(s). You just get on with it. I know you meant well though.

Zooport beat Cross Keys 24-20. Pretty disappointed with that. Not expecting much v Bayonne tonight either, but it would be good for if we turn them over. Feel a bit flat today though and could do without going away tonight (if we lose tonight it'll make a very long day seem longer too).
Be good to see Mikey Phillips back at RP too. We have a good relationship with him.

Just home from London Irish's 11 try demolition of Mont de Marsan. They are c r a p and very dirty, but in fairness we did play some really good attacking rugby.

Oh, we were kept in the 'holding pen' for a while. As soon as we saw the flight despatcher talking to the check in desk, we knew there was a problem.
We've been bussed to another plane and are waiting for it to be refuelled. Our problem is if there are no more trains to Mogliano by the time we get to Venice Mestre station.
It could be a €50 taxi ride from the airport.

Well and truly nervous. Think we will still win from here, but I'm having flashbacks from last time around!

You would think Quins have too much for Connacht, CJ. Really important to go in at half time in the lead though.
Chiefs down to 14 with Baxter in the bin. This could be expensive.

Sorry PJ, I was on the phone there speaking to Penfron and Gibbo. They are in Cardiff Sarries Club and seem to be enjoying themselves.
Looks like Quins have turned the corner. Exeter have been a revelation and this one could go any way.

It's all over for the Chiefs, they'll do well to get an LBP from here. Clermont's bench is scary.
How are Pete an the auld fella? I bet they'll be in a right old mess later - if they aren't already.

So there WAS a meet in Cardiff? I wasn't even told about this let alone invited. I asked before if they'd have the chance to meet in Cardiff and I was told they wouldn't. Thanks guys. I know I don't drink, and I might not have made it anyway, but an invite would've been appreciated. I'm genuinely upset this if I'm honest.

Ten silly points to concede at HT by us. Lovely try from Tom Brown. 16-16 at the half.

I won't ask what happened....
Had an ex-BIL - I never got on with the bloke. A total boring 'know-it-all' and a complete pain.
What got me was how rude he was to his Mum (in front of other people)... and he thought he was being funny and clever. I just wanted to smash the guy so hard.

Ah thanks LB
Don't worry, nothing major happened. This isn't the first time I've in here about him, and it won't be the last! I like him and we get on well but occasionally his lack of empathy towards his own kids really pi$$es me off. Jacob had some vaccinations yesterday and is out of sorts. So he cries sometimes, for no apparent reason. BIL applies adult reasoning and tells him there's no need for it and to shut up. The poor kid is 18 months old and just needs some cuddles and reassurance. It's not so hard to fathom, is it?!?

Evening CJ,
He's my sister's husband. Don't get me wrong, we get on fine, but there are times when a visit back home just leaves me . Tonight is a case in point. He just seems unable to relate to things from the perspective, and understanding, of a child. Reason is wasted on an 18 month old, emotion is all they really know. I don't understand why BIL doesn't get that.

Seems a little intolerant Swanny and adult reasoning is not the way to go. Your way and sister's way is the right way.
Strong smell of smoke here this morning. Either a controlled fire or one that started early this morning? I hope it's the former.
I mean, the whole atmosphere has that slightly pungent burnt smell with a hint of sweet charcoal & eucalyptus. Cool and overcast though.
This pair of channel-billed cuckoos arrived on a tree outside my window. Should hear the noise. It's being attacked by a couple of magpies and other small noisy birds.
They are big birds. I thought it was a bald headed eagle at first. The noise they make. Incredible like a claxon or a muted jazz trumpet sound getting louder and louder about 5 times, each note higher than the last. They have flown down from Indonesia or PNG.

Re: The Stratospheric Supersonic Dew Drop Inn, Roswell, New Mexico
CJ, me and my sis have talked about it many times. We're very alike and very close and can talk about anything, we have a great relationship. The hard part for me is taking a step back and letting her deal with it her way. She's my little sis and I am very protective of her. She has spoken to BIL about it, he seems to be better with slightly older kids (my niece is now 4) so hopefully he'll improve as they both get older.
LB, surely it's too soon for fires to break out?! It's only spring!

We are now in the El Nino hot-dry cycle , Swanny.
The last 2 years were below par temps - lots of rain and forest & grasslands growth, etc. Floods in Qld, NSW and Vic... record rainfall.
Now it's like Egypt... bloody hot and dry. Scorcher yesterday but then this nice cool change last night which dropped temps about 15 degrees.

I just can't imagine it LB, at all. We get intermittent extremes but rarely the heights you experience. There's occasional fires that break out in the summer but they're few and far between, I can't immediately think of the last occurence. It's more winter extremes we've had lately, when it's been down to -17 and below in places. Strange the different associations smell gives you. I think of here when I smell burning wood but that's because so many houses in the village have open fires or wood burners.
