The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dubai دبيّ
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Dubai, host city for the upcoming round of the IRB Rugby World 7s.
Visitors are reminded to dress sensibly and carry their working-'holiday' permit with them at all times and if possible; engage in their sinful drinking habits within the smoky confines of the underground "English Pub". We have more big screens than you could ever dream of...
If you need to go for a swim at the beach - application forms for towels and umbrellas are available at the bar.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Ricky Ponting, Bradley Davies, Andrew Hore and Craig Gilroy above the bar.

Rhys Patchell is having a very good game for The Bloos. 18-19. Patchell just short with a long range drop.

24-35 ft. Nagusa for Montpellier, who could have had a bonus point at the end.
Good game, better than most I've seen this weekend.

No tries so far, but there's a lot more precision from both teams in this game than any other this weekend.

Spanish side, who I think we're 5th in their league last season, beat Rovigo......result of the week? (Apologies to Connacht!)
Also, we have Romanian and Spanish sides in the Amlin. Are there any Georgian sides, and if not, why not?

Both good to see anyway!

Good luck with that Breaker. I came back to Cardiff from my ma's place about 100 miles west. The train had to do a bit of a detour due to engineering works. Took me three hours to get home. I'd have been quicker flying to Gibbos!
Anyway, bedtime. Night all!

Bore da pawb / good morning all. Nippy here on the docks but it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day.
What do we make of the whole Rio Ferdinand coin thing? I've heard plenty of condemnation of the fan for throwing the coin, but none of Ferdinand for celebrating in the home fans' faces. That's about as provocative as you can get and I don't have much sympathy for him. Don't do anything on the pitch that would earn you a clout if you did it off the pitch.

My trip to CAP couldn't have turned out better. Ended up in Hospitality, smashing a company's cider for free. Was a great day.
I thought Lloyd Williams was a bit hard done by, as Pretorious possibly caused the tip by pulling the guy as he was off the ground. On paper Patchell did well, but I thought his first instinct was always to kick, even when he had NUMBERS.
Still, what do I care
Ferdinand should take it up with his manager to stop his mind games and maybe supporters wouldn't be so incensed always anyway. I'd find it hard not to be annoyed if that gormless idiot was celebrating in front of me. The guy is a first class div anyway.

Gary Neville used to do the same when United beat City or Liverpool, running to the opposition fans and screaming and shouting. I'm sorry but that's just asking for it. But at least it's taken attention away from some of the shocking diving that went on on the Saturday.
I'm looking forward to the Blues - Scarlets match now, Rev. I've never been to the Arms Park (the club bit anyway). It's on Black Friday so I'm thinking of booking a room in Cardiff for the night. The trains will be a nightmare.

Injured Line. Out for 6 weeks with a fractured little finger.
Lucky, I'm excited to be going now too. Didn't get to experience the atmosphere yesterday, as we couldn't hear anything in the box.

Afternoon All
Sorry to hear you're leaving as well Rava. That's a real shame. It's not my place to judge these decisions, each to their own. However, I have to be honest, when I read back what I wrote in the Facebook pub when old 606 closed (the post is still in there by the way), I do hope the sentiment still stands because it doesn't seem to be that way anymore. I just find it sad really. Anyway, I hope people are keeping in touch elsewhere.

Afternoon all.
Rava,
My team are doing Secret Santa for our Xmas lunch on Wed. And as part of it we have to write a poem about the person we're buying for.
Can anyone offer me a last line:
There was a young Dane named Simon
Whose name is hard to rhyme on
For lunch there’s no cod
Instead smørrebrød

Actually,
There was a young Dane named Simon
Whose name is hard to rhyme on
For lunch there’s no cod
Instead smørrebrød
This rhyme took too much time on
(only allowed 7 syllables in the last line)

I would suggest you add a syllable to the second line...
There was a young Dane named Simon
Whose name is quite hard to rhyme on
For lunch there’s no cod
Instead smørrebrød
This poem I've spent too much time on
The last line of a Limerick always has more syllables than the first 2, no?

The "rules" I found on-line said the syllable pattern went 7,7,5,5,7.
But good call on line 2

OK, wiki answers suggests you can have more than 7
Wiki rules
Wiki rules
1.5 lines.
2.Rhyme structure is AABBA (lines 1,2 and 5 rhyme, and 3 & 4 rhyme with each other. Their "beat" is di di dum di di dum di di dum
3.Lines 1, 2, and 5 generally have seven to ten syllables, while lines 3 and 4 have only five to seven syllables. Their beat is di di dum di di di dum...
4.Ideally, it should be about a humorous or clever story/observation/statement, with the last line carrying the real "zinger" that makes it truly funny.
