Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread part 2
Rusty Smith started a game against Houston before Houston were as good as they are now and lost 20-0 and threw 3 INTs to one player.
So it seems Tennessee are in dire straights in the QB department although slightly better off than the Jets.

I'd argue if the Jets sign Kolb I'd rather them than the Titans.

A shame to see him leave Cleveland but doesn't seem like we were ever really in the running and he gets the chance at a SB win.BamBam wrote:Oh and the 49ers have signed Phil Dawson .. Well at least FGs shouldn't be too much of an issue this season
I would like to think we can be but we do still have issues despite some good FA signings so far and not a lot of draft picks to solve the problems with, a long way to go before the season starts though so who knows what may change by then.NYJ wrote:Browns are my dark horses.

I like the Rams. Long hasn't been particularly great the last 2 years, but hes an upgrade on that line. Add a couple of more pieces on the OL and out wide.

i personally think that Urlacher will still be a bear cant see him finding a better offer then the one we offered so i see him coming back even if "we are moving on" after Urlacher realizes there's not much of a market for him i see him coming back for the 2m offer.

I know you're trying to be funny, but that's the kind of throw Sanchez is actually good at. He has a tight spiral and a good arm when he can step into the intermediate throws. He just doesn't show it on a consistent basis when his first read isn't there.

Lechler has agreed terms with Houston, speaks volumes of raiders that they have lost their second best player (first being Seabass)

Must admit, as much as I don't like baseball, I love that the NFL have ended up looking stupid over this. Anything that makes Roger Goodell look like an idiot is fine by me. Had to laugh at all the talk about this "tradition" of the Superbowl winner opening on the Thursday night at home. They've only Been doing it for 9 years!! That's not a tradition..... I've got pants that are older than that! Good on the MLB for sticking to their guns. The NFL owners are bullies so it's nice to see them getting a bit of egg on their face over this.

He was but is still a sad day. Lets face he may only be a punter but he was still a raider, stuck with us through thick and thin

Browns signed TE Kellen Davis and CB Chris Owens, not a fan of the Davis signing but maybe as it's only a year contract he'll be trying to earn an extension, Owens could start opposite Haden but they may not be done adding corners.

According to Field Yates on twitter.Filed to ESPN Boston: the Patriots and free agent OT Sebastian Vollmer have reached an agreement on a new contract.
Thank **** for that.

As I said, the longer Vollmer was unsigned, the more likely he was to return.

nvm, seen it now.
Dunno if hes an upgrade as such. Very lightweight vs the run, more a situational pass rusher

Should imagine they'll use Dumervil/Upshaw how they used Kruger/Upshaw, with Dumervil being a situational pass rusher

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1m
Real numbers on #Patriots deal with Vollmer are in (tho @ProFootballTalk had some yesterday). $7M signing bonus. 4 years/$16.75M base. So...
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 57s
On Vollmer's deal: Pats protected team for injury: Has to play 80 or 90% to see extra $9.25M. If he plays 79% each year, just gets the base

For those #Patriots fans asking about Sebastian Vollmer's cap number. I'm told it's $3M for 2013.
