The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Pyongyang in a bid to persuade Kim Jong Un to pack away the missiles, grab a beer and watch the rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Donal Walsh, Chris & the late Hannah Eaton, the retiring Marcus Horan, the recently hospitalised Schalk Burger (with meningitis), the recuperated Jacques Burger, and the three-peating ANBL champion NZ Breakers

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
Just picked up my Japanese dinner (Korean restaurant)... full moon almost, balmy-ish evening but it will get down to about 10 deg overnight, 27 tomorrow.
Damn, Heino SFs on Setanta (which I don't pay extra for) at the same time as Tahs-Bulls. See how we go... it's on very early in the morning here.
Stormers beat the Hurricanes 18-16, Reds-Blues about to kick off now.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
Morning folks.
I might bother travelling to a pub with Sky to watch the Perp v SF Amlin s/f tonight. See how I feel. I'll be at Ealing's last home game tomorrow (+ a mini beer fest over there) so I will miss most of Leinster v Biarritz. Then it's scoot back to The Wheatsheaf for the first HC s/f, then home via a takeaway.
Sunday sees a revisit to the 'Sheaf for the second HC s/f, then back to my local.
Thank feck the Piccadilly Line is back up and running this weekend. It means getting back to my local from Ealing is a lot cheaper!

Guys, I have 2 tickets for Quins vs Saints for sale as I can no longer make the match on the 4th of May. Can I set up a thread to advertise them or post on a Club section thread regarding this?

I'm not 100% sure, CJ.
The Site Rules say "Do not advertise your site within posts without prior permission from an Admin." so it's probably best to check with an Administrator.
I think you can... but you'd need to be as discreet as possible about it. PM Adam.

Does anyone here know anyone with a peanut allergy who would buy a bag of Monkey Nuts? I have several friends who are allergic or have kids who are allergic, some severely so, and none of them would ever buy a bag of any form of nuts!
These folk are peanut allergic, not stupid!
Nut allergy is a very serious issue but this really is a nonsense!

Complete nonsense that, Mrs P.
I heard some kid here had his peanut butter sandwich taken off him at school. I didn't realise peanut allergies could be transmitted through airborne particles!! What's the world coming to?

Well, that is actually more sensible than you might think. If you have a severely nut-allergic child in the class and another child eats a peanut butter sandwich and then touches the allergic child or gets a tiny bit of peanut-butter on something that the peanut allergic child then touches, it could be enough to cause a severe anaphylactic reaction.
However, anyone who is nut allergic is very conscious of avoiding nuts. They sometimes come into contact with them accidentally but they would never buy a bag of nuts of any kind! Even if it doesn't have a warning on there.

Good evening Pub
I worked very hard today and felt very satisfied when I'd finished. I love days like that. They wizz by. I wore my Ulster shirt for Dress Down Day and not once but twice I was asked why I had BOWIE on the back. So that's two people in the office who need to go to Specsavers then. Or realise that Bowie is a famous popstar not anything to do with Ulster.
Going to meet Penfro and Peej for food tomorrow night. Nom! Hope everyone's well.

Excellent afternoon at Ealing. 41-17 win, but the highlight was a pre match speech by Bentos. What a nutter!

Congrats to the Euro winners today and commisserations to the losers.
I saw almost nothing of Leinster v Biarritz but I gather it was a bit of a walkover.
I don't buy a lot of comments on the Clermont v Munster thread that it was a great game. Absorbing yes, after the Munster try; but not a great game. There were far to many errors for it to be called a great game.

I read in the Times yesterday that Gatland might take Priestland over Owen Farrell, on the grounds that Farrell's not a playmaker.

Telegraph today has Warburton confirmed as captain and a 38 man squad. The above minus Robshaw, Laidlaw plus Murray, Croft, Ross, Zebo and Twelvetrees.

If he accepts a call-up. He might feel, as he's expressed, his time on the international stage is over. I think he deserves it, I think he is a great man to go along- Sexton and Wilkinson, great options. Two 10s who offer contrasting strengths and styles.
He may prefer to stay out of the limelight- and to not harm his relationship with his club side Toulon.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
Would Wilkinson kick his goals as a Lion this summer? Yes, of course he would. But would he get the back line moving and offer a threat with ball in hand?
I've never known such over-the-top praise as came Wilkinson's way during and after yesterday's match. He took his drop goal very well, but beyond that, what was so special about his performance? It shouldn't have come as a surprise that he kicked all his goals.

What is the forwards/backs split going to be? 21-16 or something like that?

Howdy y'all, long long time since I've darkened the doorway of this place. How are ye lot?
Quite excited about the Lions selection tomorrow. I think this is a tour where Gatland could actually be afforded to take a few risks in the selection. But also, I think the Tour matches will be tougher than 4 years ago in South Africa, as the Aussie Super Rugby sides are doing pretty well at the moment (I am aware they will be gutted of the players selected for the Wallabies).

Hi all,
I absolutely love the Heineken Cup. No competition pushes my buttons in the same way. Says a lot when you can 'enjoy' losing a match.
Looks like Joe Schmidt is set to take over Ireland next week. However Les Kiss will coach them on the summer tour to the USA.
ROG to retire. You could see it after the match on Saturday. Players coming up to him shaking his hand and bringing his son out onto the field with him. I'd love to see him picked for Barbarians in Hong Kong. Pity there will be no Thomond Park finale.
Can't bloody wait for the Lions Tour selection. I think Warburton is a seriously dopey decision as captain. A great player but definitely not a great captain.

Yes, I was just thinking that the Barbarians should give O'Gara a call- would be a fitting finale.
Indeed the Independent is reporting that that was his last game for Munster, he isn't going to travel to Italy to face Zebre.

That Clermont match is a more fitting finish than some meaningless game in front of 2000 fans.
I like that ROG left on his terms. The man isn't very likable but as a player . . . . . .commands serious respect.

No, I'm not too worried. Que sera sera. I just feel sorry for all of you guys being on tenterhooks these last few weeks.

I had the Radio 5 commentary on. They were also at it, but at least discussed it in a reasonable manner in one of the longer breaks in play.

Either that, or a journalist has done a great job of starting up some chinese whispers.
Not sure how much Gatland has to do with it either way. I'm still hoping its not Warburton but expecting to be disappointed.
