Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
First topic message reminder :
Basically depth for depth, though I did think we were fine at RB with Richardson, Hardesty and Ogbonnaya but Acho wouldn't have fit the new 3-4 scheme so can't really complain about the deal too much and maybe one of those back ups gets sent off in a trade somewhere during the draft.GSC wrote:Eagles traded Dion Lewis to Cleveland for Emmanuel Acho. Decent backup Lewis, just not as good as Brown.

It would essentially be him commentating over his various high points in the 2012 season. The episode where he goes over the Jets comeback drive will probably take a dark twist.

Appreciate the sentiment behind trying to trade him, but come on. The only other team that wanted him last year flat out said no. Cut the distraction.
It was inevitable. Everyone knew it it would happen, even Tebow himself, but there's no harm in waiting to see if there was an organisation deluded enough to have him.

There are some throws that come out needing more heat behind them sure, but I think thats more a mechanical issue with grip than actual arm problems.
Dude doesn't have a cannon, but that throw highlights enough for a NFL QB

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
Don't know whether or not they could have made the cap room and I understand they'd obviously rather have a pick than nothing but I still say if this guy was a top 100 player and such a leader they'd have want to keep him around while they lose most their other leaders. Also if I was making a franchise for just next season I could probably come up with a list of 20 receivers pretty easily I would have over Boldin.Olly wrote:If Baltimore really wanted him they could have made cap room.
He's not a Top 100 player imo
Yeah GSC that throw looks like it was from the 19 yard line to roughly Oregon's 25 yard line so 56 yards that would seem fine to me for the occasional long ball.

I'd be amazed if there is a landing spot anywhere in the NFL, Jacksonville looked like the only one to help boost up attendances but they've said no before, and I'm not just saying this because you mentioned Cleveland as a landing spot.mikeygnfl wrote:Possibly Tebow landing spots? Yeah, nice throw but he was in 10 yards of space and had time to wipe his brow before stepping into the throw. When does that ever happen in the NFL?

I can think of more than 20 receivers I'd rather have if I was starting a franchise! But this list is meant to be based on 2012 performance only and nobody can argue that Boldin wasn't one of the top 2 or 3 players for Ravens when it mattered most. Plus his regular season wasn't awful

mark schlereth @markschlereth 1h Jets are all class. Get rid of Tebow after the draft when all rosters are full. Bush league move. You've known your plans since last year.
I do kinda agree with this to an extent.

I still think there would be a LB running for your head. On that play there was literally no one running towards him. I just don't see it with Barkley.

So if there was the slightest chance of a trade happening, we should have just ignored that and did what was best for Tebow because he's a nice guy? No way.

There wasn't the slightest chance of a trade happening. 2 teams wanted him for next to nothing coming off a playoff win.
The other said no already. Now hes coming off a season on the bench.

As for who would actually want him.
He played for Florida, so automatically Belichick is interested.
Mike McCoy might take him back in SD.

Teams cannot afford to make decisions with players interests at heart. This is the NFL. It's a cut throat business.

Every time I watched the Texans there was a Play Action Bootleg! I just don't think Barkley can be successful in the NFL with his skillset.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
But is it purely based on the last season? Because Manning made the last list when he had spent the whole season injured and also then it would surely be the NFL top 100 of 2012, I view it as a prediction of how they'll rank in the next season providing they stay healthy.Colan (niner) wrote:Derbyblue wrote:Don't know whether or not they could have made the cap room and I understand they'd obviously rather have a pick than nothing but I still say if this guy was a top 100 player and such a leader they'd have want to keep him around while they lose most their other leaders. I think if you clean up his mechanics and decision making a bit, surround him with players and have a smart OC hes viable. Not sure he'll ever go beyond backup status though.
Thought the Saints wouldve been a good spot.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
Jets were correct to hold on to him until after the draft. You just never know what they could have gotten for him, even if only a late Round pick. It was unlikely they would get anything and they didn't, so they cut him a couple of days later. No Harm done.
He still has ages to sign with another team for next season.
Happens with lots of players, not sure why there seems to be such an issue because its Tebow.

Jets were damned if they did and damned if they didn't on this issue of not releasing Tebow before the draft. The media are so predictable - they have the teams they like and those they like to whip . The Jets are one of the whipping boys and would have been called out by the media for not trying to trade him before or during draft weekend had they not done so. Schlereth may be an ex-Redskin but he's now just another talking head that has to much to say and little of it original

I do feel sorry for Tebow. Its not his fault that he carries the media storm he does everywhere thats likely going to cost him a NFL job. Nor the Jets being one of the more poorly run franchises last season, and I don't blame him for picking them over the Jags, who more or less outright told him he was there to sell tickets.

I imagine he is close to the minority I see he has promptly deleted it but damage done, can you get fined for something like that?
Team mates will know if there is a gay guy on their team, that's for sure. It was a shame that the media tried to hound the likes of Kerry Rhodes for something like that.

Apparently it will be a miracle if the Steelers Linebacker Sean Spence ever plays football again after tearing his ACL, LCL and dislocating his knee last preseason. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/29/steelers-spence-needs-miraculous-recovery-to-play-again/
It sounds like RGIII is expecting to be fit enough to play in week 1.
