I was in a tiny little pub on the Kings Road packed with about 200 Chelsea fans. Don't think I'll ever experience an atmosphere like that ever again unless England win the World Cup.
These are off my phone. They don't do it justice but to date it's the best night of my life.
Before kickoff - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BT_ShSmDJsg
After the shootout - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=decqp5NZYW4

tbh if im paying money for a season ticket, i want attacking football and good entertainment than seeing us scrape out 1-0 wins and not playing well.

I'm a fan of the dream teams. Arsene Wenger has Steve Bould and Lee Dixon poking about the place, I said in the Middlesbrough thread that they should bring in Ravanelli + Juninho.
What about:
Mark Bright as manager
Ian Wright as ass man
Aki Riihilahti as first team coach / twitter account monitor
Nigel Martyn as GK coach
Hayden Mullins as def coach
John Salako as conditioning coach
Geoff Thomas as finishing coach
Failing that, Chris Coleman will be out of a job soon.

If you had Mark Bright as your manager not only would you get relegated from the Prem but you'll plummet down like Luton did.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
The mark bright manager comment was so ludicrous it didn't register first time.

If Pulis ever became Albion manager, I'd stop watching them. Until he left. He brings the club down. Any hope you might have of seeing good football is gone. Any hope of lively interviews, gone. Any hope of quality players, gone. Any hope of anything other than massively boring times, gone. I know two former Stoke fans who used to love football, and who no longer even watch football, the experience of having him come in a ruin the atmosphere at their club having drained them of their interest in the game.

Both points are about to change it appears.

He should just approach Mackay and see if he can convince him that Cardiff are too mental. Although I'm convinced Norwich will sack Hughton within the next year or so and Mackay would take that job I reckon

say what you want about pullis style but what he would do straight away is tighten up palaces leaky defence. his teams play to there strength no point going playing football against the top clubs, wont get you no where. while i think its too late for them this season they would have had a much better chance of staying up with pullis than holloway if they had started with him

Pulis will have to go some to sure up a defence that includes Damien Delaney and Joel Ward. It's no Begovic, Shawcross and Huth
And Dolph it is certainly something I can see happening. Hughton's got a run of 6-8 games now where we really need to be picking up wins and climbing the table. If not I can see him going fairly soon.
Malky would be cool dont see him coming, I fear we'd make a run at Lennon which I wouldn't be in favour of

i agree that he hasn't got the base squad to work with anything so will probably still struggle. but you saying you still wouldn't be happy with pullis if he kept you up?mystiroakey wrote:"fans are fickle, if palace start winning no one will care about style"

only seen palace couple of times this year and they were hardly the worlds best to watch, certainly not that much better than pullis' stoke and losing a lot more

Whatever happens i will back the next manager. Pullis or not..
I doesnt mean i like the thought of it at this moment in time.
Yes maybe that is fickle, i just call it being a fan of a club that is never quite good enough

Obviously Pulis improved the playing squad, but he took some skilful players (Pennant, Etherington) and took all the excitement out of their game, akin to what Mourinho did with Joe Cole.

Di Canio might make relegation more interesting, I'll give him that. I think he'd need to sign 24 Italians in January too.

Spoke to a mate today who is a big Palace fan, he just sort of echoed what i have been saying. He has 100% respect and loves Holloway simply for beating Brighton at the AMEX best night of his life and then the best day of his life at Wembley. But he missed the trick in the summer, they should of gone down the Hull stratity and brought in 6 class players that have good experience of this top flight e.g. Huddlestone, Graham, Figoura etc. Instead of bringing in pointless players and wasting cash e.g. Dobbie, Thomas, Grandin (Failed Championship player) Jerome etc.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
There were a whole host of players that could have helped Palace. The likes of John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Matty Etherington, Kenwyne Jones, and loan players from bigger clubs. Albion would have loaned them George Thorne, probably Berahino too. They were mis-managed in the summer, definitely.

Those players attract big wages and have higher expectations though and if hull go down with us i would put money on palace going back up before them!!

Hull aren't going down. There's about 5 teams worse than them.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I was only talking about staying up - I'd have gone down the route of buying hardly anyone, using the money to renovate the stadium and training facilities, put a proper scouting network in place, then build from the Championship.
Albion had several yo-yo years where we stocked up the cash to build our club the proper way, then made a go of it properly. Since we went 'live', we've finished 11th, 10th and 8th. That should be the model for all clubs, and if they educate their fans, let them in on the plan, get them excited about what the vision is, the fans wouldn't mind a rubbish season in the Prem. Especially if Palace reduced season tickets to say £200 each.

I wouldnt bank on it mate!!!CFCNick wrote:Hull aren't going down. There's about 5 teams worse than them.
You lot have to understand going up rarely works- it normally just ruins your club more than it helps you..(and 95% of teams go the hull route)
These guys(palace owners) have the right idea. I cant say it enough. Yes its a different philosophy, but one that may pay off. Buying aged expensive players that all attract big wages isn't going to guarantee you are in the pl, even if it works for one year it may not work for more than 2 and then you can be financially crippled as a result!
Yea It works if you can bank roll(qpr, fulham) but not for clubs like us or hull.
Just look at what's going on at cardiff allready who have gone the hull way as well!

Hull spent very sensibly. Cardiff had almost as bad a transfer window as Palace and United did.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
"- I'd have gone down the route of buying hardly anyone"
Holloway admitted he bought too many players(obviously its not massive money or wages)
He admitted he did not reward the players that got us up enough. And that was right.
Some of the signings were good- some were just /headsgone!
we had players almost as good as many of the players that came in anyway!
The irony is that the player that got us up. Isnt even playing any football whatsoever!!!(Zaha)

They bought 3 players at 10m each ffs!! which also attract huge wages, 1 off those players will pay for 7 of ours in wages!

Yeah, Cardiff spent loads and Palace didn't but if you look how it's played out for both clubs they are equally as bad. Where as clubs like Hull, Swansea, Norwich and Southampton have had excellent transfer windows.

I think the jury is out on Swansea and Norwich, not sure any of those moves have been a success just yet.

Hull are definitely looking ok at the moment(best of the three). But i am not sure they are going to stay up..
I think cardiff may just edge it, but not sure about hull. I wish them well though. No sour grapes at all. There were not financially scared like our club has been in recent years, they threw the dice a bit more.
