Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
First topic message reminder :
I think the other point...is we need defenders....badly!
Surely we have enough to cover the attacking options.

With complications around Adebayor now we seem to be moving on to f'ing Jelavic.
David Gold wanted the big guns to be looking over their shoulders. At this rate it will be a quick glimpse to watch us fall through the trap door.

Really good loan move. Standard is enough to test him, but its the atmosphere of playing for Celtic which will be good for him.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing, I can't think of a single player we've got rid of that we'd be better off keeping, just need to get rid of Valdes and Lindegaard and we'll have a more manageable wage bill again.

Apparently Man United want rid of Hernandez by Tuesday. I really hope we revisit.

It's a loan - worth a punt. Pretty much a 1 in 2 record over his career, if he can get near that it'll be fine

7 goals from a loan signing would be a good return for a newly promoted side.

Didnt see that Evans to West Brom was official now. Good deal, they look short of centre halves
Probably becomes the best centre half at the club, better than the other 10 and especially if Lescott is off to Villa on his tour of Brummie clubs.

yeah seen that this morning, just needs his confidence back thats all, proved in his first season how good a finisher he was (his header against Stoke still stands out as a personal favourite)
Unfortunately that missed chance against Newcastle coupled with the enalty and tap in misses at Brugges seem to have made LVGs mind up
Surely though if he does go we have to bring in another player up front. Rooney and Wilson as your two strikers is not enough

If we do sell Hernandez then surely we have someone coming in, I tend to think we'll be quite sound at the back this season but I can't see our woes in front of goal changing without reinforcements.

I'm delighted to have signed Evans - he'll fit in with Fletcher ahead of him and Brunt/McAuley to either side of him. Although having 3/4 of the Northern Ireland defence worries me greatly
Lescott can flog off, £60k a week and he's played as backup LB to Chris Brunt. Waste of money.

For those who listen to the odds in the transfer market, some places are as short as 1/3 for Charlie Austin to sign for Man United.

potentially just reacting to the defeat and assuming we'll sign a striker?
I've seen things pop up on Twitter quoting £15m, however the first tweet I seen in connection was ten minutes after todays final whistle

Can't say i'd be too impressed getting rid of Hernandez and bringing in Austin to replace him, won't happen anyway, LVG is far too stubborn to panic buy.

Id take Austin over Hernandez personally think he would give United something different
Tomorrow shall be fun as the window in Spain closes so shall find out if De Gea stays or goes...
Interestingly he'll be in Spain for International duty.

Can't be true that Martial bid. If it is, everyone at United has lost it & needs to be put down.

11 in 42 last year at 19 isn't bad, the fee is a bit mental though. Money is no risk in Manchester

Martial is a very good young prospect, not much better out there tbh. I'd also like to see Silva from Monaco looked at as well who lit up the stage this summer Euro u21s.

"West Ham are not a good team - Liverpool simply did not play well enough" - the headline to Mark Lawrenson's column in the Mirror. The ego of ex-Liverpool players in the media never ceases to amaze me. You beat a team 3-0 away from home but of course one of the old scouse crew can't see anything but the mighty Liverpool didnt turn up.
I've said it on here before and caused a strop, but the Liverpool media are a pox on coverage in this country.

Borussia Dortmund in advanced talks to sign Adnan Januzaj on loan from Manchester United, according to Sky sources. This can't be serious? I have no idea what is going on at United, clueless from top to bottom.

I now know why Dortmund are making the move, jakub blaszczykowski is joining Fiorentina. As for why United are allowing it to happen, I'm not entirely sure.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Im still not sure why they played Januzaj for that short spell. Their other options are much better, and a loan makes sense to me.
Yeah, Jelavic and Moses seem nailed, as does Song. Hernandez apparently wants around £90k a week basic with £90k a week per goal, thus even though we re-entered the race for him we never had a chance.
Underwhelmed by Jelavic but I can see the point. 4/5th choice striker on a cheap deal, will accept being back up to everyone.
Sounds like Collins is being hawked around to any club that will take him, much to his annoyance as he wants to stay and his family are settled. Really think Nodge should be on him, he'd be a great signing and Essex to Norwich is probably the kind of move where he can leave his family there.
Also seems the club would be happy to get rid of Carroll.

Lindeegard(sp) to Albion on a free. Better than spunking 5 million on David Marshall for a back up keeper I suppose
Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Where does januazaj even get in that dortmund side given their 100% start to the season?
If he goes and chicha already gone then im stumped as to what is happening at United
My only hope, and i will stress this is wishful thinking that we try for reus and januzaj going rhe other way is the sweetener (never happen like)

Anthony Martial given permisson to talk to United, currently flying to England. £36m on potential, is that really the answer. I think not.
Guest- Guest
Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
From what ive seen and read we're basically paying £36m for the french version Danny Welbeck, just 12 months after letting Welbeck go for less than half this price
Guest- Guest
Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
He's considered more to be the next Thierry Henry rather than Welbeck. The fee is extortionate I agree but he's very much considered a potential worldie. This transfer is very much in the old style of Utd signings, a raw youth who's got the world at his feet. It's a punt but so was Ronaldo all those years ago.
