I guess North already covers centre, so better to have a back 3 replacement on the bench?

Not that surprising - Amos can cover wing and 15
Amos can cover 15 from being on the pitch if he was needed. Would rather have Scott Williams as an emergency winger than North as an emergency centre with Cuthbert on a wing!
Cuthbert has been well below the level of Amos and James this season.

It will be more than likely because Biggar has had to move over a spot to cover center for what ever reason.

Doesn't mean he has to be a bench option, just because of that.

Baldwin and Parry like I've been saying for months. So many off form players in this tea it's unreal. Aus by 20.

Team is a joke. Jenkins, Lydiate, JD2, cuthbert were last in form 2013. May as well have f****** Priestland on the bench

Alternatives to Jenkins ? We have very few leaders on the pitch. And alternatives to JD2 ? King covers back row and lock - we aren't blessed with many other options atm

Baldwin was the logical choice for me having been a regular starter and in slightly better form than Owens. The best hooker in Wales this season isn't even in the squad. Lenny and Larry have some good players at their disposal but they're about to fu*k everything up yet again.

Here come the outbursts again because you struggle with basic comprehension and different opinions . People have suggested viable alternatives for weeks so I don't understand how you could miss it? That's why you're coming across as a fanboy.

Point taken but James isn't a test match quality player for me. Im pretty sure Amos got slated on here last time he played.
It was more the forwards I was referring to.
Mikey, seriously, don't you have some bus seats to sniff or something ?

I have to agree with Munkian.
If people are moaning about Jenkins, in the absence of Evans, who starts? James? Gill? Smith?
If no Baldwin or Owens, who else? Parry?
If no Lydiate? King? Baker (at 8)?
If no JD2, who else? Morgan? Spratt? Allen?
The only real contentious one I have an issue with is Cuthbert as highlighted earlier.
I prefer to look at the positives, Lee is fit, important few matches for him, he is no longer a rookie.
Moriarty is in the back row, maybe he can be the real challenger for Faletau we have all wanted.
Webb has the opportunity to show he really is in the top 2 scrum halves in world rugby.
North and Roberts have been performing very well in the AP, one offensively, the other defensively.
Halfpenny back, can he refind the attacking verve that made him so special a few years ago.

Exactly. It's like they're rewarding Cuthbert for being less versatile (or punishing Amos for being able to cover full back).

Re: Wales v Australia, 5 November
I'm going to have to lock this thread and tidy it up due to all the bickering. I'm not going to trawl through the thread to find out who started it and whose dad could beat up the other dads but I'll wipe the slate clean once I re-open it again. Any further bickering and we'll have to look at dishing out bans. A few reminders:
If you don't like what someone says then try and discuss it in a non-confrontational way
Calling up someone for wumming is as disruptive as wumming itself and is the downfall for a lot of threads - if you think someone is wumming just ignore them (ideally) or report them
Thanks!

The best thing about Cuthbert is that he's not just a finisher. He's got great feet and he can create something out of nothing.
Really nice guy off the pitch, too.

Disagreements about the team selection aside - Folau at Centre could be interesting with Doc/JD2 and possibly North running at him.

Re: Wales v Australia, 5 November
Munkian he and Lydiate were subbed at about the same time, probably on Howleys insistence. IMO he had a pretty good game and did all what was asked of him and Howley only wanted that pair on the pitch for 50 to 60 minutes. That was why he was subbed.munkian wrote:Baldwin is shoite, he got subbed against the Dragons ffs

Re: Wales v Australia, 5 November

Depressingly familiar backline from 11-15. Looking for big games from Roberts and Halfpenny in their less than stellar areas, i.e. everything other than running into contact and goalkicking respectively.
Also tests for Cuthbert (is there really no one better!?), Lydiate, and Jon Davies to put to bed some indifferent form over the last few years. Big Test series for those three.
Looking forward to Sam Davies getting a run out, even if it's just two minutes. More than likely to see siginificant game time in the two games after that, particularly Japan (less physical than the other 3 teams). Hope he does himself justice, he's a fine player in the making.

To be honest, I would have been concerned about this game no matter who we picked.
The Aussies have been playing the best team in the world in a competition that is of the highest intensity, our boys have been playing in the pro12.
Actually think a return to Warrenball will suit this game. Try and gain dominance in the front 5 (no easy task), put them under pressure and pin them back in their own 22. Win collisions, take points and be clinical when it is on.
Basically, win contact, execute skills and take points when presented. Easy this rugby malark!

Yeah, we will be distinctly undercooked whilst they are a much better team now than the one England beat earlier in the year.
