Keeper Rules

- 3 players per year max.
- Can keep players twice (so three years total per guy) before forcible release.
- Players take the value of their draft round in the first redraft.
- Players move up in value by 5 rounds for the second redraft, or as high as they can go otherwise.
- If you end up with stacked picks (multiple players as keepers who count as the same round) they build up backward. e.g. if my keepers are draft picks 3, 4 and 5, I would lose draft picks 3, 4 and 5 in the first redraft and 1, 2 and 3 in the second as each player would be upgraded to an effective 1st rounder by the 5 round rule and therefore stack up.
- Undrafted players are valued at round 10 for the first redraft.
- Traded players initially count as there drafted position with the +5 rule in effect for all subsequent years.
- Years of eligibility are team specific, based on the round value of the player when traded to you. e.g. if a player is drafted in round 12 and is kept by another team for one season they will be valued as a round 7 pick when traded in year two due to the +5 rule.
- Abuse of the above rule by trading away a player over the keeper period only to get them back afterward will invalidate the resetting of two year eligibility.
- Once a player has no eligibility left on a given team they will count as a 1st rounder if traded away to somebody else and retained

Per the other league post, it’s time to think about the keeper NFL fantasy league for the upcoming season. I will update the top post in the usual fashion soon, but for now if you could let me know your status for the year, and also your opinions on possible draft dates for this league per the below options.

Additionally, can you attempt to set your keepers for the upcoming season by close of play Wednesday 21st August. You can do this by going My Team > Keepers.

Note that Justin Herbert (Olly), Ja’Marr Chase (crazy_dave23), Travis Etienne (crazy_dave23), Christian McCaffrey (RDuncan8), Amon-Ra St. Brown (RDuncan8) and Joe Burrow (TM Moot) must be released this year due to hitting the keeper limits.

Everyone else is fair game, although do remember that draft positions shift up 5 rounds for anyone kept last year – you can refer to last year’s league post to see who that was.

On the subject of PPR, whilst this league is a keeper league, there are not a massive amount of keepers and given there is still time to set those keepers...

I think sending this league to 0.5 PPR is a fair compromise for now, so ill do that

I never drafted Mark Andrews last time, I think I picked him up during the season (iirc i went for Dallas Goedert in the 5th round last time). Does Andrews still then count as a 3rd rounder this time?

So there has never been anything in the rules around tracking trades of players and maintaining round status for the player you traded away. The only thing trading players allows for, is for a given player to be retained for more years than normally allowed consecutively, since the retention rules are per owner, not per player.

The draft slots themselves are still per player, so Andrews as a 3rd round pick last year is still charged as a 3rd rounder, regardless of who drafted him
