First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini

According to a a quick google search, they owe a lot of money to Japan as well.

http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2011/03/who-does-the-us-owe-money-to/

To be honest, since 2000, the US have been giving massive tax cuts to the rich and spending insane amounts on defence and popular foreign wars. They are heading for a disaster and even now the right-wing extremists refuse to raise taxes.

🤦

Something that is supposedly going to screw the US over in the next few decades is the amount they are going to have to spend on pensions.

Cari,

That is big news. Makes sense but still surprising. They don't have a strong foundation and were always in trouble because of that.

Its called feedback. Its fine if its negative (funnily enough) but if its positive, the "natural consequences" make things worse in a vicious circle. That means two things - the whole economy collapses or the negative feedback required becomes more and more painful.

No, but I watch enough of Newsnight to know that some day soon China will be able to break America. The only question is whether that will in turn break them. Two superpowers being that interdependent has in the past only resulted in war.

Anyway, it's a nice day, I'm going to my Mam for lunch, which has the added bonus that Miss G will be there as well.

One step ahead of you! Got the 2nd, 3rd and 4th book in the series with the 3 for 2 offer at Waterstones yesterday.

Mind you that wasn't my original plan. I tried some 2nd hand book shops first but they didn't have any of them there Sad

Afternoon all.

Just found this article on SBW's plans for next season while looking for some Chch snow picks - a foot of snow rather covers over the quake damage.

I've known for a long time what the All Black brand is and what it's about. When you're living in France and young kids are walking around that can't even speak English, wearing All Blacks jerseys, you know that the All Black brand is pretty big. But what surprised me is the amount of support I've got back here, it's been really humbling, just little kids coming up asking for signatures and grandmas and things like that, it's been pretty cool.

While in Rome we conducted a little experiment, it does appear that Roman lasses are more drawn to Kiwis wearing All Black jerseys in bars than to Kiwis in plain t-shirts. Though it is based on a small sample (my mate wore his jersey Friday night, I wore mine Saturday night) so further research will be required in order to prove or disprove the hypothesis Wink

Lucky - it wasn't just their music for me. I'd be here all day trying to explain, so I won't bore people with it. Joe Strummer's death was the only time I've been genuinely bothered about such an event though.

Read back while I had stopped on top of a hill for my lunch break. Prop's dilemma affected me although there were only a few farm animals to witness it. Don't worry, Glas the sheep remain untouched.
Anyway got me thinking. A few places on our Golf Course have wild raspberries growing. Ripe just around now and very nice. Rule is though, never eat any that are below waist height Very Happy
