The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
FYI, the last pub was :

Suppose it would be a similar experience if you told someone you met your wife/girlfriend via online dating.

it is a tough way to explain you all.. you're like my dirty little secret.
Morning all. I am shaking like a pooping dog about this presentation this afternoon.. hate them.
You were right not to sign the card Micka if you didn't like the girl. I tend to sign everything but just but best of luck if I don't overly like them.

Yea exactly. I find it really interesting how the whole dynamics of it work.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ona: hope things go ok.
Stag: Mmy housemates thought it was weird till they met the two Micks! Now they definately think it's weird!
Kado: The way you described how he talks makes him sound a bit west country!
All: Morning, feeling rough as a badger's bum today after the gig last night I ended up going out for a few more. Pondering booking the time off already for As' trip.........training tonight

Yeah that's true Stag. Some of my friends think it's really weird, other's think it's pretty cool. Tis just a different way of meeting people I guess. Can be a bit awkward explaining to people sometimes though, so in those situations I do the whole "know them through rugby" thing.

I did a lot of writing about this place recently. How it came together, kinda like a mix of Facebook and the sports terraces.

Think of all the bad news stories you hear about internet meet ups. I think that's why some people are wary talking about it.

Very true Munsty. That was one of the reasons why I was a bit hesitant at first with meeting up with people from here, you've no idea how glad I am I decided to do it now though

Morning people
Ona, hope everything goes well People in here are always willing to listen should you need it.
I do the "know them through rugby" thing too. My mum and sister and a few others know the full story but it just takes too long to explain it, so I take the easy option.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Mickado - I feel your pain. When I started here I was the only male employee. (the Partners were both men though - go figure!...erm, anyway). All of the girls sent each other Christmas Cards. I told them I would not be sending them cards, but would give my greetings personally. I was quickly installed as office pariah until I bought a big card to all of them and put it in reception. We decided at that Christmas party to all chip in for charity in lieu of cards and that system remains 13 years later. Almost all of the girls then told me privately that they were relieved as they thought it was a nonsense as well! One of them that has started subsequently though is a bit mad and still gives us all cards even thought she has chipped in!

When I first met up with a few from on here, they announced a welcome over the tannoy at Welford Road to the 606 Pub members. Sadly I missed it as I was getting some beers in.

In other news. My Dad is back in hospital tomorrow for more work on his left shin now the infection has cleared up. Hopefully they'll be taking the "concrete" out and doing a skin graft.

I'll put my cards on the table. When I came up to the meet in Cardiff you were all "my College pals and their mates they met through Rugby". Mrs G knows there is something up though: "I didn't think there were many Irish people in College with you..." and "Was so and so there (no). Was so and so there (no). Was so and so there (no)...there weren't many of your college pals there then?" "Erm...". She also reckons I spend far too much time on line "I hope you are not glued to that thing in the office!" "Erm..."

To be fair I think I had the strangest first meet up.
Ended up sharing a room in Belfast with a VERY VERY old man who I'd only met twelve hours earlier [left]

I have to say I would be pretty reluctant about meeting up with anyone on here. It's a bit like meeting your hero's you don't want to be disappointed. I mean in my mind the greyghost looks like the grim reaper from bill and ted.
I'm going to venture into StandUlstermans pub the next time I'm in belfast but might wear a disguise.

I can see your thinking, Rodders, but you should definitely meet some regs if you get the chance. This place is pretty darn good anyway, but when you know and have met the people behind the posts, it's a richer thing again.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I met Gibbo with Mick first if memory serves. I don't think that was in Belfast. I am sure it was before then.
Met Hughie in Belfast first time as well. He was an Aquired taste but I love him so much now. it hurts my eyes..
I am raging about that meet though as I wasn't too familar with the pub quite yet and never realised really who mrs p was when you guys where talking to her. Actually thought it was Notch's relative or something but I didn't end up chatting to her properly.
Oops my bad on that one.

Don't get excited young Scot, he means in a "why do I need money when I have you as friends" kind of a way.

At least he says he managed to acquire you. He may have said you were an acquired taste he hadn't got round to appreciating yet. I remind you that it is the Aristocracy that invented the concept.
