The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Lionel Nallet photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I saw a picture of Healy with a swollen eye. It didn't look too bad though. Maybe they're just waiting to see how it goes?
On Thursday it's Penfro's leaving drinks, so I'll probably have a short lunchbreak and go early. I'm sure you'd be welcome to come along.

Not really too surprised about jennings.
What's the news on Healy? One report said eye; another said concussion ...
Cian Healy is the one with the bad eye, it's Heaslip with the potential concussion.

I son't think it's too serious, I just think he's not cleared to fly for some reason.

3 bottles of something called budweiser later, and I'm feeling worse about Ireland's chances as opposed to being more optomisitic.
Calling all Irish Rugby fans to your pre-assigned panic stations.
Very very dissapointing performance never mind the result. Full autopsy tomorrow say 12ish? Someone set up a dedicated thread, I've no idea how to.
Notch those highlights are pretty fantastic, I hope young Gaston takes his chance early on in the season. He looks muy impressive.

Yeah. Cheers for the wishes Cari, Nottins and whoever else congratulated me. A team win like today deserves a beer and I couldn't stay sober myself then obviously. So nice to have people who have not gave me the time of day at Risca before now fussing over me. It looks like I'm done now. My kitbag got lost off the bus (yes I put it on), so if it's gone then I'm not replacing it. Better to go out on a high anyway.

Like I said on the match thread. Leinster tore everyone to shreds in the HEC. Munster ran away with the Magners. Ulster had their best season in a decade. The players at Kidneys disposal are not the problem. They are very good players. We know this. So what's the problem?
Erm Billy let me guess. Because he's our coach, our mentor, our leader. He picks the team. He chooses the way we play, to suit our cloth. He's failing. And failing badly.
Joe Schmidt. 1st season at Leinster. European Cup won. ML Grand Final made. A team that has beaten the very best in Europe. Kidney nullifies it. Do the Irish accept mediocrity easily? I think so. Is it just me or wot? Im Dutchified. I see see things a wee bit differently, than the usual provincial self-serving bonhomie. The Irish disease at ALL levels.
This will not get me free pints, but it's true. And the Truth hurts sometimes. Accepting it, is the only way to grow and move on up.
Evening all. One v disappointed irish fan here.
But Gibson, remember back in 2009 when we won the GS. (Don't jump down my throat here, just listen first)
DK took over a seriously demoralised team. He put together a very good set of coaches, although even then we all had doubts about Gaffney. He hauled that team up by their boot-straps and told them they could win matches, and then he let them get on with it. By the end of the 2008-2009 season, Kidney was almost canonised by Irish fans everywhere.
Then it began to go downhill. But we were prepared to live with it, because we knew he was building a squad. There were going to be bad days at the office whilst new players got to play and new combinations were tried. We ALL believed that of all of DK's competencies, the one we were sure of was his man-management skills. We really thought that he could get something out of the team. He seemed to show this in 2009 6Ns.
Suddenly we seem to be back in that awful place we were in in the middle of RWC 2007, and this only two weeks before RWC 2011. I don't know where it all went wrong. I don't know why the pride and the passion seem to be no longer there. I know Ireland has been trying to be more professional over the past 10 years, and that the traditional Irish approach of "giving it a lash" doesn't work in the professional era. Well, all I can say is, maybe the reecived wisdom is it doesn't work, but the uber-professionalism isn't blydi working either.
So how about we go back to our roots. Tell the boys to go out and give it a lash. They haven't a hope of winning. But if they play in the old-fashioned way that Irish teams used to play, they may not win, but by gum they will enjoy themselves and they will put a smile on the faces of their fans. A smile which has been missing now for at least two years.
Well, Grand Sham was lucky. He inherited that team and just finished of a job with massive luck(BOD). Till that aberration, twas the Truth. Just dont go all Yank on it. It has been put in its rightful place now. Reality St.
We are phooked BTW. Just thought Id save ye the pain. No stress now. Sure we'll give it a primitive lash. Just like it has been for the last 100 years. Feckless is right. Right intent to bring our game into the 21st century. Wrong Manager to do it with. My 1st fear when he was appointed. What he is attempting to change to, runs against his very Munster vein. Its not Rocket-Lego.

Morning All
Hoping for a more positive result today when the Dubs meet Donegal in the Gargle Football semi this afternoon.
Awh nobody can feel more sore than Wally this morning. If I could, I'd go round his gaff and give him the biggest Welsh cwtch he's ever had. And I mean that in a nice way not in the way you all think I'm thinking.
KIWI/DREAMER - when you open the new place, I think it's only fair that the picture on the bar is this:

And a picture of Manu's legitimate tackle to dispel the ugly assertions in this pub that it was illegal. Sad news : but an accident.

Portnoy, there was nothing wrong with Manu's tackle at all and i dont remember anyone saying so. It was a good hit and unfortunately Wally's leg was planted and it did it for his knee. A real shame but thats what happens.

Morning all, I managed an internet-free day yesterday, doesn't happen often. I thought Australia were very good yesterday, and if NZ loses Keiran Reid during RWC we're (to borrow Gibbo's line) phooked. I only saw highlights of the Ireland England game, but Ireland were disapointing.

Ha.
Bit excitable last night then. On the plus side, my kit has been returned.
Gutted for Wallace though. It looked horrible when they showed it in slow motion.
Got out of my pit to see what Usain Bolt would do only for him to get DQ'd. Blydi madness.

Risca - glad to hear your kit was returned. I can't watch the Wally incident again. Makes me sad. The press photos are bad enough. He's supposed to be having an op at some point.
That's a bit of a shock about Bolt getting disqualified - for a false start wasn't it?
In happier news, just waiting for the big semi to start...have got a good stream for it too

Yeah a false start. Bolt can get away with slow starts too, so he was obviously wanting to go fast.
Nottins, it seems one of the lads thought my bag was his. So it looks like he's left his in Bristol.
