The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Jonathan Davies (JD2), and all of the weekend's 6 Nations debutants above the bar!

Like I say luckless, I certainly don't agree with it. The worst thing is when you see the attitudes at this level of the game mirrored at the grassroots where people are playing purely for "enjoyment".

I hadn't thought of that, Glas, but it's not a bad idea. Cardiff will be heaving, though!

Yes. That's why you need old codgers (naming no names) to remind us constantly about the higher ideals of sport.

Lucky (and any other regs for that matter), are you about in Cardiff for the France match? Mini pub meet is a possibility. Stag is over I know. Tickets are like gold dust already so it may be a case of picking our pub to watch it as a gang. What do you think?
We'll be there

Yep, thats why I'm annoyed. I disagree with Munsty. The best teams look at themselves when they lose like this. You can't turn the corner if you can't be honest about your level of performance. How do they improve for next week if they won't acknowledge their deficiencies?

I think when you have a character like POC in your team, you can use this loss to catapult you to greater things. France will face a big Irish backlash. Just don't bring that out of the dressing room and on to national media FFS!

Probably true. Kidney is a very 'in-house' coach. I see Hurley and Jennings have been released from the Ireland squad. I hope Henry, Tuohy and Wallace are released for Ulster on Thursday... assuming they aren't picked. I assume they won't be.

Ferris wont get banned, the yellow was enough, although I'd have settled for the penalty for what was a dangerous tackle.
By the way all tip tackles are dangerous, but not all dangerous tackles are tip. Just thought I would clear that up.

Glas, perhaps the citing commissioner didn't believe that Ryan did do anything wrong?Glas a du wrote:Rava wrote:According to the BBC, Davies and FERRIS have been cited!!
Six Nations: Wales' Bradley Davies cited for tip tackle against Ireland
Six Nations organisers have confirmed that Wales lock Bradley Davies has been cited for the tip tackle that saw him sin-binned in the victory over Ireland .
Davies upended Donnacha Ryan in the 65th minute, earning a yellow card from referee Wayne Barnes, but Gatland admitted he should have been dismissed.
The Cardiff Blue faces a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday, 8 February.
"I think there's intent and if you look at that and ask me, there's definitely an intent in there," said Gatland.
"So I wouldn't argue with the decision of that being given a red card."
Italian citing commissioner Achille Reali had until 1700 GMT on Tuesday to confirm a citing. Reali has also cited Ireland flanker Stephen Ferris following his sin-binning in the wake of the tip tackle on Wales lock Ian Evans that gave Leigh Halfpenny the chance to kick the winning penalty.
What about Ryan? The problem with him not being cited is that what he did wrong will only now be considered as part of the Davies proceedings and may result in an over-shortening of his ban.
Honestly, the words pifsup and brewery come to mind.

Notch, much as you and I love PW I really don't see the benefit of him being in the Ireland squad.
When Earls withdrew and Les Kiss was commenting on McFadden taking his place and other options, Wallace wasn't even mentioned.
Personally I think he would be better off training with our squad.

You're right. Acting like a tool is not a citing matter apparently. However, I don't know how accurate this is, but some of the Welsh boys said Pearson had only recommended yellow because of Ryan's actions. Did that come over on the ref mic?

Well he's not a 13. But I agree, if he's not going to be picked. Normally after D'Arcy played like that you'd expect him to be in with a chance, but we all know D'Arcy has played far worse and kept his place.
EDIT; Anyway he won't be released until the last minute because he has a central contract.

I think thats BS to be honest, Ryans 'actions' were never mentioned by any of the officials at any time.

Afternoon all.
I haven't had a minute to myself to review the "actions" that led to Davies Tip Tackling.
what is it he is supposed to have done to warrant nearly ending a players career?
