The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Jonathan Davies (JD2), and all of the weekend's 6 Nations debutants above the bar!

Just listening to Logan. None of the names mentioned are being talked to at present. The decision to replace McLaughlin was taken a year age Nd McLaughlin knew about it.
The new coach will have to fit in with the "ulster" way and work closely with iHumph.

You at Ravenhill Rava?
Ulster needed that 3rd try, Dragons were clawing their way back in.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening pub, hope everyone is well
For the first time in a while I am enjoying the start of the weekend, now it actually means something again! The new job is going really well, the people are just lovely and I know I'll enjoy my time with them.
And in other news, the MD of my previous place of employment has gone! I don't believe the official line for a second, I'm 99.9% certain he was pushed rather than walked. It doesn't affect me directly anymore but I am so happy for those who are still there. The man was an arrogant dictatorial bully who has finally had his comeuppance. I have been since I heard about it early this morning.
Today has been a good day

Ah he almost latched onto that kick from iHumph there.
Need this 4th try really, plenty of time to get it still though.
Looks fair freezing there tonight.

They are making it harder work than it needs to be. The ref is not helping he is very whistle happy, but they need to adjust and play him a bit better.

Pete, apologies - I've just referred to viewtothegym and AlynDavies as horse's arses, which is not appropriate for this board - completely true, mind you, but not appropriate

No need to apologise As, if someone complains I'll deal with it bud.
Rava, that was an ever so slightly fortunate TBP win, certainly not a vintage Ulster performance.
You got to be happy getting the TBp when you've not played great though.
Time to watch the second half of Sale Sharks vs. Worcester Warriors now.

Quite right Pete. Not the greatest performance but we are now seeing a different Ulster from last year where we can eke out TBP wins from not performing at the best.

Begining to doubt whether Deccie has any balls at all.
Poor Ulster performance, but we somehow get a bonus point eh? No idea how we managed that. Dragons looked good for large portions of that match. Some abominable refereeing decisions though at times. Still a bonus win is a bonus point win :-)
Still don't quite understand the Henry and Wallace situation though...

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I've watched the Sale game since half time and it has been a poor advert for AP rugby do far. Some of handling has been abysmal.
I thought a penalty was sufficient to be honest Rava. It wasn't overly dangerous and the player pulled down landed feet first and got up straight away.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Got to watch the second half with the littlest P.
2 moments made me laugh.
First was the ref penalising number 15 for not releasing the tackled player 5 mins after Adam Darcy had left the pitch. The second was after the final whistle when the weeun ran off and returned with the Trophy she won today at school for being Star Pupil of the Week and waving it at the telly to celebrate our TBP win!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Some people just seemed to express that it was some lesser type of rugby fan who found the whole Law Interpretation thing interesting.
I love rugby and I am interested in the way the Laws are applied and interpreted and the way the citing process works. I wanted to discuss it and this afternoon we had eventually got some more information about what the IRB though of the whole thing and amongst the abuse there was some interesting points raised but we were told we were making ourselves look daft by continuing to try to tease out what the IRB thing meant.
Just felt we were being tutted at for being interested on the stuff that happens off the pitch.

I haven't seen the thread that you are talking about MrsP, but the forum is here for people to discuss any aspect of the game that they want to.
If others don't want to discuss that particular aspect they should just find another thread that they are interested in to post on.

Apparently not everyone feels that way.
Anyway, glad to have got the TBP tonight, especially after the week Ulster have had.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Well, that was the strangest game of rugby I've been too in a long time.
It was a bonus point win, and it was a very one-sided game. However the team that got the bonus point were not the 'one side' I'm referring too! That, and the truly surreal refereeing, made me feel at times like I was living in some sort of bizarro alternate rugby universe. I don't know whats real any more. I'm googling Rene Descartes.
How absent was our backrow? Notice I don't say bad, I say absent. I was almost heartened to see Faloon sent off. At least he was involved for once! There were two occasions Diack got the ball off a set piece- scrum and lineout- and crashed it up just a few yards. The first two players there were Dragons players. I mean, we literally surrendered the breakdown to the visitors.
That's what I'd be saying if we lost, like we very easily could have, but we didn't lose. We got a bonus point win. I don't know what to do with that. It makes no sense! I'm.. delighted? Yes, I'm delighted. Very happy. We played very badly. Ho hum. Great result!
And in the midst of all that we scored one of the tries of the season.

Obviously the ref felt the same as you about Faloon because he carded him when it was Dan Tuohy who made the tackle. Faloon was on his feet jackling for the ball.

Why on earth was the second yellow card given? Can you shed some light on that?
What it seemed to be given for from my view on the Prom was so surreal I can't help believe I must have gotten it wrong.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Notch,
Ian Whitten knocked the ball out of the scrumhalf's hands.
There then followed a complete farce as the TJ kept saying,
"13 White"
and the ref kept asking,
"Are you sure about the number?"
As by this stage Whitten had legged it over to the other wing !
It went on for a quite while.
