The All New England v Wales bickering thread, 2012
First topic message reminder :
Same idea as the last one created by TycroesOsprey, but this time can we please stay on topic and no silly ponies.
"OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty.
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads. "
Let it commence

H, I thought Richard Burton did the voiceover on the vid back in the days before DVD ? And a soundtrack by Max Boyce ? Did I imagine that ?

Glas have you been drinking
I think the WRU would have a best seller on their hands if they could find a recording of it.

That Black and white silent film is tipped to win a lot of Oscars this year.
It would be a great time to get the famous win out there for the Welsh public to see.

Don't worry Glas, there isn't an HD recording of England beating the ABs available either
I'm afraid the ARU hasn't bothered making a "Tri-Nations 2011" winners DVD, so finding HD recordings of any All Black loss may be tricky

I said All Blacks "losses" Hersh. While some may claim a "moral victory" on behalf of the French we prefer to let the scoreboard tell the tale

No it wasn't. They played poorly throughout the tournament. Even in the final they were conservative. That is not the stuff of moral victories. Look, you clearly don't understand that simply losing doesn't give you a moral victory.

So Ireland were moral victors the last two times they met Wales in the 6 nations?

Anyone booked their tickets for the final weekend GS decider in Cardiff? First tournament in a good few years where both teams playing that day will be unbeaten, perfect climax to an enthralling 6N, the championship decider in every sense of the term for a change.
And if that wasn't enough, the gritty 3rd place play-off to follow immediately at Thickenham

Come on HERSH, Wlaes played some of the best rugby in the 2007 tournament in their loss to Fiji.

"'They played poorly throughout the tournament, Even in the final they were conservative'"
Yet they still managed better than 4th place and nearly won it, morally I'd say that was a moral victory for conservative rugby.

No that was a moral justification for their runner up spot not a moral victory in the final. Really! It seems like you are being deliberately thick

Haul him in, grill him in the West Car Park on Saturday. Welsh Trout & grilled almonds & champagne make good tucker before a game.

Re: The All New England v Wales bickering thread, 2012
Magazine snippet.
"Even when Tony Woodcock crossed over to score for the All Blacks, the fans around me were not concerned. The French were playing confident, flowing rugby, the All Blacks were missing kicks and as the game progressed, the hosts were looking rattled.
The street cleaners paused to lean on their brooms to watch the giant screen. The soldiers on duty - bristling with machine guns - were glued to the action. And when the French captain Thierry Dusautoir scored his second-half try, the chorus of cheers was deafening. It was well and truly game-on.
Sadly for the French, that was all they could muster. The All Blacks just held on for a narrow one point win and the crowds in France disappeared into the afternoon autumnal sunshine.
They had lost the game, but it was a moral victory. In the same week that the French government's role in the Libyan conflict was acknowledged as being pivotal, French national pride was restored in the sporting arena.
They stood up and were counted. They contributed to a thrilling world cup final and they showed that they deserved to be there."

I've just realised that, morally, either Samoa or Tonga are current world champions.
Tonga beat France but missed out on the quarters due to the scheduling shafting them vs Canada, and France "morally" beat NZ.
Or
Samoa "morally" beat Wales, who "morally" beat France, who "morally" beat NZ.
This is fun

This Saturday, Wales get to play their 16th man: Steve Walsh, who hallucinates English cheating everwhere. He will wear out poor old 1/2p with all the kicking he gives him.

That was from the French point of view! Of course they would see it as a moral victory.

Lee Byne is our only 16th man.
Anyway, your crowd is a 16th man so it will cancel out.

I'll be there wearing my Barbour Jacket sipping Port and maybe some Champagne near my Range pre game.
Come over and say Hello.

Re: The All New England v Wales bickering thread, 2012
The most important thing to arise from this otherwise pointless current discussion would be: What winning margin for England would cause Welsh fans to admit that England are the better team?
We know that anything up to 10 points can be claimed as a moral victory by Wales historically, whereas anything over 40 points is blamed on the coaches, regions or scheduling.
Could someone from Wales please let me know if 11-39 points is too wide a call? or if there are any other factors that come in to play here?

Hersh, England can't have moral victories even though they lose lots, so don't try muscling in on French ones.
