The All New England v Wales bickering thread, 2012
First topic message reminder :
Same idea as the last one created by TycroesOsprey, but this time can we please stay on topic and no silly ponies.
"OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty.
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads. "
Let it commence

And to be fair , it was the English who started winding up other countries in the press - their cricket captain claiming they will 'humble' the West Indian cricket team. Didn't work out so well...
Well that was Tony Greig, who was a Saffer.
Maybe I shouldn't bring up the issue of Saffers playing for England...
Its the lack of black south africans that really worries me but I wouldnt want to suggest all English people are massive racists ....

I think what he actually said was, "we are going to humiliate the english, south africans, samoans, americans, new zealanders, northerners and burn their house down"
Get your facts right
What's that coming over the hill Is it a monster - NO its George and the boys and they are coming to town

George North has a monster!
Monster what?
If its true Gareth Thomas might come out, of retirement.

chuckle. People do get a bit overexcited in the week before the game. It's not much more than a rumour, but we'll take it thank you!

Dawson says he's heard a Welsh player said it. His comment was, "WELL! Imagine being an English player reading THAT!"

So it's not even an unattributed quotation, it's just something Matt Dawson says he's heard. How can you pin nothing to a dressing room wall?

That'll backfire as the English players will know it's not true and end up hating Dawson (if they don't already)

I'd like to thank you all. The last couple of days have really cleared something up for me.
I'm now completely certain that I'd really like it if Wales didn't win this weekend.

Will Wales just have Austin Healys twitter feed direct to their "mobile lifestyle devices" in the dressing room as motivation?

No they'll just play the clip in 2008, when he said that the Championship was all about England and France, as it ever was.

I don't think any England player would feel a need to think too deeply about it - at least not until after the game.

Probably already mentioned but North,Davies,Cuthbert and Lydiate were all born in England.
Warburton and Cuthbert have English fathers.
Surprised by the amount of Welsh with English roots.
Yes before anyone says - England have a lot of players not born in England too.

I'm not sure that being born in England to Welsh parents (as was the case for George North and JD2) counts as having English roots.

I suspect it will be a Welsh moral victory if any of the following are true:
1. The game is called off for any reason
2. Whilst losing, Wales score as many or more tries than England
3. The game is a draw
4. Wales lose by less than 7 points and there is at least one controversial refereeing decision
5. There is turn over ball from any scrum
6. Wales win any lineout
7. George North scores a try
8. The aggregate score of this game and the last game won by Wales gives a net point tally that is atleast a draw
9. Anyone milks a penalty by diving out of a lineout.

Might be wrong but I got the impression from this article than JD2 has an English parent too.
This is where I got the idea that there were a fair few Welsh players with English connections.
Nothing wrong with having a few English connections.
