First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

O'Brien hopefully back for the England game.

Shane Jennings has been drafted in to take POM's place on the bench. After travelling to Paris last week to hold tackle bags I'm sure Chris Henry is delighted with that.

Rolling Eyes

That makes no sense. Chris Henry has missed two Ulster games traveling to Paris as the reserve backrower while Jennings was with Leinster. First sign he might get gametime, Jennings is recalled? Same with Tuohy; was one of the four locks in the original squad, then when O'Connell got injured McCarthy was parachuted straight into the 22.

What the feic is going on?

I've got to say, I'm not a massive fan of that when the provinces are in an important phase of their season. I understand that you want 25 or 26 guys in your squad but it's kind of ridiculous to jerk guys around like that.

If a player isn't in the reckoning, then let him play for his province and try and force his way in. Don't waste everyones time.

I suppose Ulster have done well this week. Shocked

Best named as captain and with Tommy's signing we now have four in the starting XV. That's getting beyond "token" territory Whistle

Notch, I have no sympathy. His time is not being wasted.

Nobody has a right to play for Ireland. With O'Connell out we need leaders and Jennings has that.

It should not be an automatic carousel by any means.

Zebo and Denis Hurley have been in same situation.

Not saying anyone has the right Stag. The guy spent a week with the squad and would have been up to speed with the moves etc. (if there are any). Doesn't make a lot of sense then to ditch him for someone who hasn't been involved. As far a being a leader, Henry has been trusted to lead the Wolfhounds on a number of occasions.

Thats my sensible argument anyway. I do have others!

Same as Liam Williams and Rhodri Jones for Wales, or even Stevo a couple of weeks back being held in reserve and not released to the Scarlets. it happens OK

And afternooon all. Am about done in today, work has been absolutely mental, we've had at least 3 meetings on this afternoon so it's been super busy. The Shingler discussion was a welcome distraction though.

So glad I've got tomorrow off and am possibly going to give Welsh a miss later. Just want to curl up in my bed with a book. Super tired.

You know whatever about Jenno, Im delighted POM is in instead of SOB for the Scotland game. Really am. Now Kidney's hand is yet again forced to maybe see some more light. We are getting changes by osmosis. Not by Kidney perse.

That'll do me. Now we will really see if POM and Ryan are up to it. Only one way to find out.

I'm not saying he has the right to play for Ireland. I'm not even backing him for Ireland; it's not his exclusion I'm annoyed about. I'm annoyed about his missing very important games with Ulster in terms of the Pro12 standings despite the fact he has no chance of gametime. I'm saying, why bring him to Paris if he's not in the pecking order? Why not bring someone like... Conor Joyce, Dave O'Callaghan, TJ Anderson? All they need to do is hold tackle bags. So why does it have to be an important player at provincial level? It could just as easily be someone who isn't in line for a provincial start that weekend.

Was wondering if people would see it that way. SOB is not an international class 7. He really isn't.

He's a good player, but he isn't a 7. I would think Ireland would do better with him at 8 at the minute. Ferris is nailed on at 6 (fair enough), but I don't think Heaslip's position is too nailed on.

There we go then. Can't say fairer than that.

Just saw a trailer for Act of Valour. Looks right up my street. Just need Mrs R to fancy it.

Off to listen to What Did You Expect From The Vaccines before a little meal down a friend's house.

Fantastic interview with Matt Gilbert of the Scarlets in the preview for the match on Sunday and how he deals with his deafness as a pro rugby player clap

I remember being amazed when I first found out he had a hearing impairment because honestly, if you watch him play, you really just can't tell.

Possibly starting with the Barf v Tiggers LV= slug out tomorrow. Toulouse v Castres on ESPN at 12:45 on Saturday before the 6N gets going. Then Saints v Scarlets and 'Le Crunch' on Sunday.

I'll be in the usual spot on SAS (Sat & Sun).
