The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

What if I tell you that of the 32 of us on the rota, 30 are rugby mad men (mostly Scarlets supporters) and the women's view of Rugby is similar to yours?
Ah. I see the problem. Thats's horrible luck

Dreamer,
It looks like The Blims are playing at RP tonight. I'm not a fan of that Sidesteps and Sideburns song really, but I'm sure it'll be good for a lot of people to see them.

dreamer, I think the whole website went down for a couple hours back there. I was getting 'Web page unavailable'.
Just arriving at Asboville, Devon on my way to Exeter yet again. I was supposed to be making this trip yesterday, but it got put back a day. Hopefully I will get an early train back tomorrow and be back in time for Stormers v Blues in the S15 ahead of the England v Ireland U20s game.

Hello all, I haven't been in for over a week, any big news? I decided to speed read through some pages and saw Biltong's young fella is now a rugby player.
Biltong, I'm a hooker myself so if you want tips or anything I might be able to help..... (I'm very cheap )
Glas, if you're around, I sent you a PM.

Also United are out of the Europa! Bilbao are a fantastic team, United are pretty awful. The worst United team in a while, I don't know how they are top of the league, it proably says more about the Prem than anything.

Glas, have you written that Lions article?
Hope you're feeling a bit better about your options Dreamer, if you're stuck in a rut or a comofrt zone it might do you good to get out and go some place new.
Am I the only one who wasn't annoyed by Ferris' or Kearney's comments? I love when we stir the pot, remeber ROG's line about the English. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/article-411008/OGara-gives-English-barrels.html
If you can back up arrogance I see no problem.
Biltong, my dad taught me to always get your money's worth so I'm not cheap! If you want some helps about throwing in the ball or anything like to becoming like a modern day hooker, which is essentially an extra flanker, then I would have no problem helping. After I go out in ten minutes to play some soccer!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It would be great thanks, I have been looking at some youtube video's to show him, but some tips will be welcome.
As a Loose head prop my duties were a little different.
HIs line out throws have been very accurate, and I have been explaining to him how to bind once he has thrown into the line out, the other one I want to teach him s to arrange with the lock to get the ball back to him for the run down the side when they are close in. These 8 year olds will never expect that.
He has been complaining to me about the way his tight head and his lock behind him binds as well

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
When our middle girl was playing rugby she was the only girl. This was rarely a problem until they changed to 5 "man" scrums.
Their coach was teaching the second row how to bind to the front row when he suddenly realised that one of the props was a girl!!!!
The lads were great and just put their arm around her instead but the look on the coaches face when he realised was hysterical!

I'll bet MrsP.
In soccerball, this is not Manchester's finest day. The game is on the box in the hotel bar and aCity are 0-2 down at home to Sporting (0-3 on agg) and need four goals.
What's the scote in The Dragons game dreamer?

Hound - Just finished 18-14 to the Dragons, so Blues pick up a LBP to go level with the Scarlets on points I think.
Awful game of rugby, error strewn and the official....no, I shall say no more
Blimey the man of the match has taken a few knocks, got blood all over his face!
and ha, didn't realise City were losing too, that actually makes me feel a tad better...

Good evening MrsP.
I just think its not the way of us, you know? It is healthy to be confident and believe inside you are better than the opposition. But, not cool to brag about it just before a big game. Maybe its banter and a storm in a teacup.
Journos put questions to provoke a certain answer. Its their job. But top players are schooled in communication and should know this well. Just dont want to hear anymore "We are great", from a team that has been underperforming for 3 years.
Shut up and earn it first.
Just my opinion.

I'll say it. The ref was atrocious. Penalising Nathan Buck for their loosehead dropping his arm? And that's just the start of it. Dreadful game, but I am buzzing we won that as we got reffed off the park. I had like 5 texts as soon as I was on tv. I knew anyway cos of the trusty red recording light ha. Feel better now.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah I confess I did fear for the match when I saw the ref, only coz he reffed the Scarlets v Dragons match, and it was diabolical. No control of the breakdown whatsoever, it just turns into a free for all. Scrums were a mess too, bit of a shame, but the tries at least made it a tinsy bit exciting. And v good for the Dragons to get the win

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I fully agree Gibbo.
In Ferris' defence I think he was complimenting the English team, saying they didn't like to lose and that, although they were perceived as arrogant, he had become great friends with several of the English players on the Lions tour.
Would rather not have given the journo the chance to twist it though.

Evening all ,
Feeling a bit mischievious tonight, just been outside wiv me big stirring ladle ain't I, thought I'd nip in here to avoid the fights I just started.
Ye olde firework strategy, light the blue touch paper and do one.
On the subject of Ferris and Kearney? Nothing in it really, pretty much standard stuff to be expected when players talk about playing England, I don't remember any fuss about POC's speech before the last 6N encounter, so what's with the big deal on these two?

True. Kearney's was more pointed. He is a leader and not afraid to say what he thinks. Bit like ROG. I admire that. But, the younguns should take lessons from BOD to help prevent these meejay-aberrations in future.

I took Rav into the Pub my Da used drink in, on Friday. Showed him where he sat and used start verbal uproar, by dropping political or sporting grenades. Then he'd go home, come back in the evening and they'd still be arguing.
He was a roysh feicer for that, my Da.
