The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

Methody score in the dying seconds with the last play of the game to ensure my Alma Mater (Wallace High) end another rugby season without a trophy. Aye I'm a wee bit peaved to say the least. Full credit to the lads though one of them just posted this on facebook.
' boys, its been the best 4 years playing rugby with you guys! Wish I could do it all over again! Really disappointed to lose but at the end of the day one team had to win! congratulations to methody!'
No way was I that mature at his age.

Well done that man!
If it's any consolation, and I know it wont be, the hubby thought Wallace played all the rugby in the second half at the very least and probably should have won.

Just watched Wales v Italy. I thought Mirco Bergamasco had one of the worst performances I've ever seen.
Falatau was very impressive.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Mirco lost it early on. One player who when he gets overly passionate it doesn't benefit his game, it just falls to pieces.
Still don't get how his knock on was missed!
Yeah Faletau was good, made a couple of nice breaks as well, I just like how he's so unassuming, just goes about his own game in a very impressive way.

Apparently bookies are going with Scotland, England, Wales this weekend. They could easily be wrong on all three. Ouch.

bit random isn't it? But he is dropping Dupuy completely so that's one of them. Pallison in for Clerc is another. 6 is a bit much though I guess.

I am not even going to attempt to see into the thinking of the French rugby team coach, Glas!
They never make sense to me. Not happy Yachvili is back though, either him or Parra....both are too blydi good.

Going into this 6N's, beating France for me was always the objective. If we lose to them, I won't be happy, whether we win the tournament or not. France was always the one for us to win.

A mess Rava is what I'll be.
France made my cry in the RWC. I didn't like that very much. Beating them in this 6N's would mean so much, and be a huge step forward for this team.
Thank goodness there's rugby on from Thursday otherwise the wait would be horrible!

Good show. There's a bit of a meet up planned for the HC final at Twickers in April. If you're up to it it's usually a bit of a giggle.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Good man Kenny, by the sounds of things you are now literally some kind of immortal Herculean adonis.
Dreamer is worrying amusingly unnecessarily. Philippe Saint Andre has practically run up the white flag already with his team selection. This is now an exercise in him looking at a few players for the future. There are also injury doubts over the entire French backrow! Dusatoir, Bonnaire and Harinordoquy- wouldn't surprise me at all if they decided not to risk any of them. Their first choice back three from the start of the tournament is gone too; they've opted to rest Julien Malzieu (a known quantity for the coaches) and Clerc and Medard are both injured. Dupuy, Lionel Nallet and Maxime Mermoz are also rested/dropped- thats the end of Nallets career.
For Wales, its about winning a Slam in front of their home fans. For France, it's about giving a few youngsters a run-out ahead of the summer tour and rotating the squad to see what a number of second choice players can do. Doesn't take a genius to see how that game is going to go does it?
It's now almost 100% certain Wales will ease to a Grand Slam. The tournament is set for a damp squib finale as Wales will not have the satisfaction of facing and beating the 'real' France team. They are going to run out against a development XV they will beat much easier than they should. It's a crying shame for the neutral truth be told.
The real interest on the last day comes from the battle for the runners up spot- England vs Ireland have something to prove and both desperately want to win. So do Wales but the inevitable Welsh Grand Slam will come against a backdrop of Gallic shrugs, which is truly maddening. Even the wooden spoon decider holds more interest for me.

The Welsh will blow it. Cant handle being favs. Get too full of it and will lose focus. New France will steal their glory.
England to thrash a self-overrated Ireland and retain the 6-N.

WE have Notch(some of us), but Kidney and his crew actually believe they are far better than they actually are. Wins v a decrepit Scotland and Italy mean nowt. Should have beaten an equally decrepit France. Just bottled it.
England will run riot. And France will rise to the occasion. Remember the RWC? Should have won it only for a bent & bought Saffer ref. They just love these situations. It is why they are Free.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I agree, I was happy with our win against Scotland but sure that came when we were already out of the championship because we let France AND Wales off the hook. We can't let wins at home over the two poorest sides paper over that. Furthermore, I think if we play to the same standard as we did against Scotland, we will lose. Won't be hammered, it will be a tight game. But we need to play better than we have done to win it. We need a big, big game next week.
