The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Belfast, as Red Stag is still struggling to come to terms with Munsters QF loss to Ulster
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Brian McLaughlin, John Hart, Duncan Bell, Michael Lynagh, Mick O'Driscoll, Deiniol Jones and Shane Williams.
Get well "Noddy" Lynagh - our thoughts are with you.

There's a few 606ers on there Gibbo. Always seems like a bit of a closed shop to me, not very inviting. Maybe that's just my perception but I leave them to it. Very good for finding out about new signings and such.
Did you know we've signed an IQ prop from the Hurricanes called Michael Bent and an IQ lock from Leeds called Tom Denton? Squad players, nothing to get excited about, but they seem like good additions.

Ah ok Mick. I value your judgement. I'll leave it so man. Thanks.
Yeah. Knew about Bent. But not about Denton. There IS a Denton Id like tho. So good squad players yeah? Be great if Bent works out for us and for Ireland.

Question,
Would you rather,
A) to sleep with four Victoria secrets models but not be able to tell anyone about it
or
B) spend the night with four Victoria secrets models but not be able to be anything with them but everyone would think you slept with them.

Can I just say for the record that the board is a much pleasanter place to be now that all the hotheads have disappeared post 6Ns - is there a way to monitor who is only posting during that period and just boot them? Alright, that's a bit fascist, I can give you a list of names instead

A refresher for MrsPenfro.
Category. A fires - solid combustibles (paper, wood etc).
Water, CO2 extinguisher (Powder at a push).
Cat. B fires - flammable liquids.
Foam extinguisher, fire blanket.
Cat C fires - flammable gases.
Powder extinguisher.
Electrical (no category).
CO2 extinguisher (powder too, but not in a confined area).
Cat. F - burning oils and fats (restaurants with deep fat fryers).
Wet chemical extinguisher.
And make sure you have an escape route behind you when tackling a fire.
Lecture over. On a serious note, knowing this stuff can save your life and those around you.

Some of the people who only post during the Six Nations are so entertaining though. I like being annoyed and infuriated sometimes, and the fairweather / international-only posters are good value in that respect.

A man goes into a confessional and says to the priest
"I'm 85 and I made love to a beautiful 18 year old girl last night."
The priest says.
"Go and say 18 Hail Marys for each year of that young girl's life."
Yer man says.
"I can't do that, I'm Jewish".
The priest says.
"So, as a priest, why are you telling me?"
Yer man says.
"Telling you...I'm telling everyone!!!"
Does that answer your question hoog

I know it's important but it's very difficult to take anything in when it's on video. I don't think that watching something on video makes as big as an impression as if you've actually physically been on a course. Tis all.

Granted prop, its not an 'exciting' subject. But it is a 'life skill' that I value.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Station_nightclub_fire
There's probably a link to video footage of this event on the link if you have a spare 5 or so minutes to watch it.
That's all it took for 100 to die because of fire safety neglicence. An extreme example I know, but people like Rava and myself are around to make sure that kind of thing doesn't happen to you.

Yeah man... It was a hoot. Portnoy would get lost in the bog toilet. I waited for him at the station. Must mind those on Tour.
It was a triple-vodka btw bud. Small measures in Laahndahn. Have to top it up.
Was a great day man. You made it a great day - organising the whole gig. As is your wont.
I loved the Pub. Still in love with the Landlady. Gorgeous woman. Id do her washin.
Remember we went back after the game to just pick up our bags, asked for a quick one(I did) and stayed for 3 hours? I think we near drank them dry. Ha!
I think they enjoyed the craic as well as the shekels. Everyone's happy.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
Just wanted to talk in the pub about a really legendary musician who died today, Levon Helm. Lost a long fight with cancer, we don't have many guys of his stature around anymore
Helm was the drummer for The Band and a talented singer with a voice full of soul, sadness and grit; a massively influential musician and a part of rock and roll hostroy. He was there with Dylan when he 'went electric'- the booing of the die-hard folkies caused him to leave the tour briefly. When The Band broke up he continued performaing and recording but also branched out into acting. You can see his influence on the alt-country movement, bands like Uncle Tupelo and subsequently Wilco owe him a great debt.
Here he is singing and playing on maybe my favourite tune of The Band- used to cover this back in the day. Guy was a legend of American music. This from The Last Waltz, the Scorsese doc about The Bands last ever performance. He actually hated the film and it fuelled a bitter split between him and Robbie Robertson, but his performance speaks for itself.

“Levon was the glue, not just in The Band, but in all of what people think of when they think of North American music. He was a great unifier; a great glue. He unified blues and country, rural and city, and even North and South. Luckily he showed us all the way to keep it together and let it swing.”
