The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Belfast, as Red Stag is still struggling to come to terms with Munsters QF loss to Ulster
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Brian McLaughlin, John Hart, Duncan Bell, Michael Lynagh, Mick O'Driscoll, Deiniol Jones and Shane Williams.
Get well "Noddy" Lynagh - our thoughts are with you.

They don't have many standing there so you should be fine and anyway they don't check tickets after a bit so you could just slink onto the prom!

I just disagreed completely with that test, especially as Shane was due to retire after the rwc anyways, they just used it as a money spinning exercise blah blah, grumble, grumble, grumble...bah, stupid wru.
How funny was that tour guide in Millenium Stadium. He was a perfect microcosm of what I perceive as the stereotypical Welsh fan.
Got very excited about "Shane" and was proud as punch about the Millennium Stadium and the national team. When you suggested to him about the WRU harming Scarlets European chances to get money etc he looked extremely puzzled before he mumbled "but its Shanes last game!!". He also knew precious little about Ray Gravell.
And when you consider the press room is named after him, that's shameful!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
We are going for the Memorial end because that is nearer to where our ST seats are.
Don't think it matters.
We like to play towards that end in the second half and it's near where the players come out. And nearer the gates.

It is pretty bad, Dreamer. You'd expect them to make sure the tour guides have decent knowledge of rugby and that includes former Welsh internationals.

me Lucky! me me me, I do enjoy watching it.
And aye, my Grav hoody had all about his charitable trust on it, just received a blank stare about it from the tour guide when I mentioned it. Ah well.

I love watching the World Championships. It's one of the best events in the sporting calendar for me. I'd love either Mark Williams or Ding Junhui to win it, or Neil Robertson, he's quality.

I was very big into snooker in my early teens, I used to play at least an hour every day on my summer holiday. I was rubbish, but I loved it.
Ken Doherty won the world championship in 1997, I’ll never forget it.

Rodders,
Just checking, you know about the traffic situation around Ravenhill.
It's all on the web site. I know you probably know but I'd rather that than have you not knowing where you can drive/park since they got stricter.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
I used to watch it a lot in my teens, as it was always on in my revision week and it was really relaxing to have on in the background a bit. Used to love watching Mark Williams and Matthew Stephens play. Oh the SF heartbreak with Stephens
My friend's dad used to have a snooker table and we all used to attempt to play snooker all the time. To even attempt to complete a frame would literally take us hours! I don't know why I was so surprised, I was pretty rubbish at pool, so don't know why I thought snooker might be easier.

I've only played snooker a couple of times (on a full-size table). They're huge the first time you see one in real life. You go down to take a shot and there are clouds between you and the far end of the table.

aye Lucky, you just don't quitre realise how big the tables are until you're lining up a shot. I admire the snooker players all the more though having tried to play the game myself, tis bloody bloody difficult.

I wish the Beeb would bring back the old snooker music, that was great. I taught myself how to play in on guitar. They have a rubbish 'remix' of it these days which is nowhere near as good.

Asbo's seen the place. Real nice bar

Rodders,
I am guessing you mean Ardenlee Ave?
You can park in the Park and Ride at Pirrie Park (very topical just now!) there free and get the wee bus to the ground or walk. We usually park there, get the bus to the ground but walk back to the car as the one way system means the journey back on the bus is a pain.

Right, good news for the regs attending the Heino final get together, we have a finalised schedule (big thanks to Hoog and Hound ):
* the plan is to kick off at the Triple Crown by the Richmond Athletic Ground (home to London Scottish and Richmond) at around 12.30 with drinks and finger food, nothing too fancy (I'll finalise it tomorrow but will be looking to keep the cost down)
* post match, there are a group of tables reserved for us just down the road from the TC at the Orange Tree just opposite Richmond station

Quality lads.
Oh and it's traditional for those organising to get the first few rounds in.

The HC plan is coming together - thanks to the organisers . My ticket is ordered, now trying to get hold of my bro to find out (a) is he going to the match as threatened and (b) can I crash at his on the Friday and Sat. Need to know in order to book flights. Where the *** is he??

Luckless, more likely driving his tanker full of aviation fuel around Gatwick, so if he's concentrating on doing that safely instead of answering his phone, I'm happy

Evening All.
Looking forward to watching the derby in a bit. Should be a really good crowd down there. The O's have sold loads of tickets anyway which is good.
Been chatting to a couple of people that get the same bus as me every morning now. Makes the commute more bearable One fella works in my building and I'd never spoken to him before today. He's a massive Blues supporter and his dad used to play for Harlequins years ago. Had a really interesting convo with him. He's lived all over the world too. It's great what you learn about people once you talk to them. He seems like a top bloke.

Aero adverts confuse me, the 'now with more bubbles than ever' in particular.
They strive to replace as much chocolate with air as they can and make that out to be a good thing? Surely this is a massive con?
