The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Games of the XXX Olympiad Pub, London
First topic message reminder :
The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Games of the XXX Olympiad Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
This week the pub has set up in the host city London, where we can watch the greatest athletes from all four corners of the globe compete in a multitude of Sports under the one thousand flame Olympic torch... each wearing the 5 coloured Olympic rings of blue, white (or black), red, yellow and green.
"Citius, Altius, Fortius" (faster, higher, stronger) has been the motto for the modern Olympic Games since their beginning in 1896.
(but not too high obviously!)
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Marcus Aurelius, Henri Didon, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, Sir Steve Redgrave, Cameron Van De Burgh, Marianne Vos, Murray Rose, Jesse Owens, Emil Zátopek,
Zara Phillips and her fabulous horse "Toytown" and last but not least.... Boris Johnson playing whiff-whaff against Danny Boyle.

That's another reason why the Simpsons is great: the minor characters are just as good at the central ones.

Evening All woss occurrin'? I haven't seen anything of the olympics...bar the hoards of fans going to the football tonight. I had to walk right through them all. Still, they seemed much more well behaved than the usual football crowds

I read about them CJ...I haven't really been that bothered about it all, but it's nice for the spectators and the individual athletes involved of course.

Wow, that's the first time I've heard Hungary's national anthem. It's a beautiful piece of music.

Just home from rugby, marathon sprint session and come home to watch the missile, I don't know how he lost that but fair play to Adrian.
As for Wiggins, that guy deserves immense praise what he has done in winning Le Tour and a medal in around 10 days is outstanding. Heck I'm feicing proud of him!

Was hoping to watch the football tonight, but the locals don't have it. It looks like it's on another channel, so maybe they aren't realising.
It's really annoying not being able to watch any of the events this week though. Suspect it'll get worse after tomorrow too.

On Rocky IV, the anthem is too class.
Of course I'm a massive fan of Wales' too. Particularly with a closed roof

There's a real dignity to the Russian anthem, Hound. 'Deutschland Uber Alles' has it, too.

I got up at 5:15 for the Missile.
They just showed about half the town of Port Macquarie (JM's home town) out in the town centre.... they're slightly disappointed. It looks kind of cold at this hour. (I think Staggy's Tour stays there for a night next year - it's about halfway up the coast to Brissy)

USA wins again. They've completely cleaned up in the pool along with China, France and SA. It's Australia's worst performance since Atlanta so far.

Team GB won 1-0 Rev. South Korea ahead but they will have to play Brazil more than likely if they beat Korea. Brazil are up for this tournament, have never won it and it is their only serious competition until the WC in 2014.

Willser, I'd say your either lifting way too much, doing too much or not warming up properly. A bit of pain is to be expected but doubt you should have that much.
I'm feeling great after a tough fitness session, legs a bit wobbly during it but finished well.

Must have missed it if he did anything stupid. Think he was just being petulant and selfish.
One extra rep probably wouldn't cause you that much harm! You could go down the power through route which sometimes works and you will probably feel better after it..
Beach Volleyball is class.

I wouldn't exactly blame him on the handball, while I think he would have got his head to it, do you blame a fella in a rugby match for giving away 3 points instead of a certain 7?

Did this happen tonight? I thought you were talking about the pnealty in the World Cup a few years back. Missed it tonight opted for volleyball and swimming instead. He said to the ref he didn't do it or something did he? You always say that though, same how it is always your ball for a throw in.
