The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Mendoza
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Mendoza - the city at the foothills of the Andes and one of the venues for the inaugural Rugby Championship.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Rory McIlroy, Sam Cane, Juan José Imhoff, Eben Etzebeth, Jake Schatz and Rob McCusker.

TREVISO – yes as bizarre as it may seem it is a lovely place to visit – a min-Venice if you will with it’s canals and it’s walled old town
http://www.italyheaven.co.uk/veneto/treviso.html
BERGAMO - is another overlooked city, particularly the Citta Alta (Upper Town), the Citta Bassa (lower town) is more functional in a fascist inspired style
http://www.italyheaven.co.uk/bergamotourist.html
with plenty of festivals
http://www.vagobond.com/bergamo-italian-city-of-festivals/
LUCCA - although it could be considered ‘touristy’ isn’t anything like as crowded as nearby Pisa. Another walled old town, you can easily walk (or cycle) the ramparts and once inside the walls it is pedestrianised. They have an annual festival too
http://www.italyheaven.co.uk/tuscany/lucca.html
They have an annual rock/pop festival too
http://www.turismo.intoscana.it/allthingstuscany/aroundtuscany/lucca-summer-festival-2012/
The line up this year was
29th June: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
4th July: Blink 182
7th July: Laura Pausini
14th July: Norah Jones
15th July: Kasabian
19th July: Gossip
20th July: Franco Battiato
29th July: Toto
And a Puccini Opera festival at nearby Torre del Lago

LIVIGNO – many would look at this as just a winter resort but far from it

Not far from St Moritz. Unfortunately, there is no rail line. However -
A bus is available (Tirano-Bormio-Livigno): www.busperego.com

Definitely. Pisa is a 30 minute stopover (a few years back I flew into Pisa airport, transferred to the railway station, dropped my bags in left luggage and got a bus into town for the cheesy Leaning Tower photo). And then got the train to Siena.
Siena is well worth the visit - it is packed the weekends of the big horse race in the central square, but the rest of the time isn't too bad.

Question for the Leinster regs, is Foster Horan any good?
I think he was one of yours and we appear to have signed him.

Pete,
He played in the Irish U20 RWC side that beat SA, England & France. Played in the U17, U18 and U20's Leinster sides. Don't know a lot about him. Other than that he is Leinster Way trained. Always a plus.

Cheers Gibbo
I hadn't seen your comment Stag, but I am aware that we've got Cross, who is currently playing for Crusaders in Super League on a dual registration from St Helens.
Lots of new faces at London Irish this season, most young or crossing codes, and a good influx of Irish (as well as a a few more pacific islanders ). Is going to be interesting to see how it all gels together. I think this season it might be to much of an ask for us to challenge for the play offs, but Brian Smith certainly appears to have both a short and long term plan in place, so the next few years could be quite exciting for the fans.

Crossy broke his foot in his first match though which is a shame.
I noticed that dual code thing.
London Irish appear to be placing a massive emphasis on a wide skill set - I noticed how seriously they took the Premiership 7s.
It seems to be the way forward. Munsters new coach was talking about how he wants to see the backs being more physical and the forwards more adept at ball playing to encourage a total rugby.

Oh Rev - in Limerick the other day there was a group of about 4-5 lads all wearing a pale blue RAF rugby kit.
Coincidence? Or is there an RAF base in Shannon Airport?

This was the first time we have taken the 7's seriously. Smith said that he wanted to try to win it as he wanted to bring a winning mentality to the club. I think that is important and was really pleased that he took that stance.
I was really impressed with TOL on Friday night. I know some of you guys were laughing when we signed him, but he looked pretty good. Got to the back of rucks quickly and was firing the ball out well. He also provided a running threat from 9, which will be important for us as it will give whichever of Geraghty, iHumph or McShingler starts at 10 more time and space to play in.

Pete/Ozzy, I actually think TOL wasn't as bad as he was mad out to be. Murray was also shoite last year. TOL got targeted more as well there was a period when he was unbelievably bad, he wasn't that bad last year a few yips but solid.
Stag, anniversary for the parents is it? Mine are 25 years married this year, have to figure out what to get them.
This wind is freaking awesome, being out by the ocean in West Cork you get insane waves. It is a great workout, the battering from the waves is like braking a tackle, you have to jump over the waves at times for a bit of cardio and of course some swimming, as well as keeping your balance on the board. Unreal.

There's a very frank interview with Felipe Contepomi about Argentina's chances in TRP this week....err...zero. Plus a better than usual piece from Nick Cain on the Championship, that focuses on NZ.
I'll bring it along if you haven't read it.

Feic off with your lakes, when you see the Atlantic Ocean hitting the coast about 5 minutes from your house you're made in the shade, makes for fierce waves, which are great for getting in the water, hurt but great and good for exercise.
Van Persie on his way to Old Trafford subject to agreeing personal terms and medical. Personal may have been agreed, I'm a bit surprised. United may be contenders after all

Thomond, its their 25th anniversary. Well its their anniversary in a few weeks time.
We've told them we are taking them out for dinner to their favourite restaurant in Kerry which is closing down this Saturday.
But what they don't know is that we have got the extended family from both sides there. 25 of us in total. They won't know what hit them!!
And as a sweetener we've hooked them up with a weekend in Rome. Im earning now and think its only right to look after them properly for this milestone.

Van Persie on his way to Old Trafford subject to agreeing personal terms and medical. Personal may have been agreed, I'm a bit surprised. United may be contenders after all
Oooh you win that one T. My favourite places on Earth are coastal Galway & Mayo. Have pics of me standing on rocks, waves crashing over me head. You can smell the ozone. Nowt for 5,000kms but the sea. And you. Magical.
P.S. Van Persie is a Dutch tart. Going to a lesser club. Should have gone to Italy.

Lovely stuff Stag. These moments must be marked, enhanced and treasured. We only have so many in our lives before Full-time.
