The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to The Patch - a tiny rugby union* community nestled in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne in the week before the AFL Grand Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Willie Falloon, Joel Conlon, Peter Murchie, Lewis Jetta, Lance "Buddy" Franklin and Frazier Climo.

Ok I got it PJ,
"Make sure your dog hasn't got fleas before you let in your yard, Stag."
In Yorkshire it would go something like " Check yer whippet ain't got fleas afore ye let it in yer out'ouse, Stag."

I woke this morning to the horrible news they found Jill Meagher's body and have arrested some bloke and have now charged him with her murder.
I just can't understand these 'people'. I feel so sick thinking about it.
My thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to her husband Tom and Jill's family. Truly awful news.
(sorry to break the news this way)

Staggy, the public and Police did a fantastic job to nail this guy.
I suppose a part of me was hoping that she would be found safe and sound but those hopes were dashed when my alarm went off at 6 and I heard the news. It is great that they have got this guy within the first week of her disappearance but the image of Jill's Mum and husband pleading for help/mercy haunts me. It's all so unnecessary.

The accused had a 90 second court hearing at 2:30am this morning.

Nite Hound. Sleep tight.
Stag - those Schnauzers look a bit scary to me. Very 19th C with the mo and beard. A friend used to have one which used to dig holes and present the family with all sorts of wildlife... so don't be fooled by the grin.

Not surprised by that Lb. The breed is a terrier. Digging and killing things is their gig.

Yes, this one had a penchant for snakes (red-belly blacks) and funnel webs. Very protective dogs with absolutely no fear whatsoever.
btw, a 17 y.o kid was bitten by a Taipan (world's deadliest snake... one drop can kill 100 people supposedly) and has survived.
The thing is, the snake was found west of Newcastle - not in it's usual habitat in the tropics. It was 1000km south of where it should have been. So, someone must have brought it down as a 'pet' or it hitched a ride in a wheel well or under the bonnet.

Evening all. Mental day at work today, and then played 2 netball games tonight, including half the 1st one at centre. I'll barely be able to stand in the morning.
On the plus side, here's last night's podcast: http://www.v2journal.com/the-breakdown-v2-rugby-podcast-26-september-2012.html
I'll note that after the ribbing the lads gave me about Tasman's prospects Waikato needed a late try to beat the Makos by a point this morning.

Watched that game Kiwi.
Waikato looked to be in control early but Tasman have played very well this season and just keep on going and are an attractive side to watch. They ground their way back and then took the lead only to be pipped at the end as you say.
Auckland - Counties local derby on this afternoon... then some cricket afterwards.

Morning As, Rev, Lucky, Pete and any lurkers
Wishing Europe well in the Ryder Cup.
There's a lot of sport on this weekend. ITM is on soon, then T20 WC cricket, Currie Cup rugby, 2 x Grand Finals, more rugby, more cricket, RC matches. I'll be glad when it's all over.
It's going to be cold & miserable in Melbourne (possibility of snow on the Dandenongs) and wild winds of the Antarctic variety.
Go The Swans.
(or The Bloods - from the original South Melbourne club)
I think Hawthorn will win but I really hope I'm wrong.
The Swans are the best scramblers and most effective at clearing the ball out to set up some big name forwards.
Plus we have Jetta and the Canadian guy, Mike Pyke. They just have to win the contests, control possession and stop Buddy Franklin & Co.
Sydney was blydi hot today. 31 deg C (but it felt like 39... or 49 in the car for a few minutes until the A/C kicked in). Should be high teens on Sunday night so perfect for footy.
I'm going for the Bulldogs - nothing against them and I prefer them to many other teams in Sydney. They are a great team to watch but so are Melbourne. The Storm only have one player born in Victoria... they are mostly all Queenslanders.

Have you tried filling a bucket of warm-hot water, adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil (or that Moa Oil if you've got it) and deeply inhaling it with a towel over your head. 3 times a day?

Afon is Welsh for river
Roman : "Brittannie, quo that called?"
Ancient Britton : Afon y sledge, agor dy blydi lygaid..."
Hence loads of instances of the river Avon.
