The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, The Patch
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to The Patch - a tiny rugby union* community nestled in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne in the week before the AFL Grand Final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Willie Falloon, Joel Conlon, Peter Murchie, Lewis Jetta, Lance "Buddy" Franklin and Frazier Climo.

Oh phhok, they've scored again. I'd hate to be this squad on Monday morn.
They raiped us. 34-6 and counting.

There have been some wonderful upsets in the Pro12 this season so far to be fair.
Ospreys losing two home games on the bounce, Ulsters bolt from the blue performance tonight, Connacht thrashing Leinster and Ospreys upsetting the in-form Scarlets.
The league is getting better and better.

It was much more like it, Rava. Sensible stuff in the second half too, taking the points and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Our defence was terrible for Edinburgh's first try and they cut us open again in the second half only to knock on, but it was a good win in the end.
And scoring seven tries is just showing off, really.

Healy Try. Morale victory is ours.
NO TRY!
I think Leinster are officially in CRISIS.
Well done Connacht. ye Believed and played like mad feicers. Dan Parks was Aaaaawsum.

Also, Dan Evans's kicking out of hand was superb. He's one talented footballer.

That'll teach Lejnster to show total disrespect to Connacht. That result has pleased me just as much as Ulsters.

Massive win for Leeds Rhinos, but Wigan should have got a penalty right at the end. Really harsh for them losing the semi final having topped the regular season table.
Irish 11-16 down at Worcester with about 15 minutes to play. Come on boys, make it happen.

This is great. I'm smiling.
Look at the buzz in Galway. It really needs this bad.
Dont want to talk about Leinster being schitt tonight. This is all about Connacht.
They just destroyed the multiple European Champions.
Ergo, there is no one in the NH they cant beat. That must be Elwood's mantra, scribed on the dressing-room wall.

No probs bud. Leinster won't make that mistake again and will probably be fired up for the big one next week. That has the makings of a classic.
I just hope Connacht can build on that performance (only saw second half) although a blip next week would be useful.
Cheers mate love you too.

Rav,
Connacht disassembled us. It wasn't just a beating. It was humiliation.
PG we will learn from it. But Joe has mixed over 40 players now. I mean, that's a lot of formations and changes - if you are looking for fluidity.
So many injuries now too.
I trust in him to pace this right for the 3rd year in-a-row.

He's an experienced guy and he knows that he will need all his players ready to step up. I just think the early form has him a bit jittery. Not panicking but certainly not comfortable.

The basics are letting Leinster down. O'Brien is badly missed, as is Brad Thorn for his work at the breakdown. Its early days though and I think the HEC will bring the best out in them. I am surprised at how poor they've been so far though.

I do think there is just a bit too much experimentation this time from Leinster. Schmidt needs to start looking at his starting 15 to take on Europe once again. Will there be many changes in the starting 15 from the HEC winning 15 of last season? I would like to see Madigan fit in the back line somewhere.

Rory,
Its at this time of year, we gear ourselves up for Munster. In readiness for both of us in the HC. We have been like this every time we've met them over the last few years. Then, we come alive.
Believe.
P.S. Ulster were sublime tonight. Leinster are the 3rd best team in Ireland. Just behind Connacht and Ulster.

Always the big tussle before the Heineken Cup to see who the provincial top dogs are! We look forward to welcoming Connacht to Ravenhill for the biggest Irish derby of next weekend
You may not have noticed, but tonight Ulster had the initials 'NS' below the badge on their shirts. Just found out that will be the case for every game this season

Had to laugh at that.
What do you think the starting 15 will look like for Munster? Roughly full strength?

I can't tell you mate. That's what we ought to be like at home. I read comments on the match thread about WBP Embra and they should win and though I thought they might, I bit my tongue as we are a good side at home normally and I found it a bit disrespectful. We have a lot of work to do, but if we keep that performance up (where we front up at home at least), I'll take that.
The big big big blow about Danny Lydiate has at least been softened a bit for me by news of Scotty, but I am gutted of course. I knew it was bad from the way he held his hands as most sportsmen with breaks do.
Still, to finish on a positive I will reiterate I am buzzing for Scotty and his province tonight!!!!!!!!
SUFTUM.

Rev I don't think anyone was being disrespectful. Edinburgh had been playing well. Dragons probably underperforming, but WTF mate you got the win. Cost a bit though and I wish Lydiate a speedy recovery.

I don't like WBP or should win chat anywhere, even against Zebre away, as sides will generally play well at home. Anyway, who cares now.
Didn't know Sam Tomkins didn't play for Wigan. That's a big blow for them. Still Leeds will always raise their game in a knockout environment.

Aye, there is a world of difference between could and should. Although from what I've seen of Zebre should wouldn't be unfair.

Morning All
Notch - well spotted on the NS - I didn't even notice (For shame! What was I looking at?! ). The minute silence was beautifully observed by all from what I could hear and see too.
I don't know if they showed it on the telly coverage, but on the balcony of one of the Westgate Street flats behind the ground someone had a banner that said "PLEB AND PROUD" which I thought was quite funny, and topical.
I've got a massive bruise on my chin coming. One boy tried to jump the advertising boards I was leaning on at the end of the match during the pitch invasion, but he didn't make it and fell backwards booting me in the process. I didn't fancy my chances so I didn't even try. I would've looked a bit silly amongst all the kiddies anyway...
Hope everyone has a good Saturday. The sun's actually trying to come out so I'm going to make the most of it before rugby tonight...

The AFL Grand Final, Cari.
Sort of like Gaelic football but with an oval field and an oval ball.
I really thought Hawthorn would be too strong but the Swans never gave up. The lead see-sawed and it was only late in the 4th quarter that they regained the lead when the Hawks had looked set to finish the stronger with a 2 goal lead with around 10 mins to go.
Ryan O'Keefe wins the Norm Smith Medal (best on ground)

Last match, despite the fact I am less than 90kg at the moment and have only played there sporadically, I was forced into LH prop due to a lack of available front rowers. Scrums were unpleasant

Good luck today CJ; nice to meet you last night.
Today it's C'mon EEEEEEAAAAALLLLLIIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!
Richmond away, and the last time we were there we outnumbered and outsung them. Richmond have posted an appeal on their website exhorting their fans to turn up in numbers. And Ealing have responded in similar vein with an email to all their members.
Could get a crowd of well over 1,500 for a National 1 game. Almost unheard of.
Can't wait for this one.

sounds like it could be a cracker! Enjoy Hound
looks like talks of getting a dog might have to be put on hold (or deffo until I've passed my driving test). There's 4 days of the week where it would probs be left on it's own too long, so not fair when there are some ready to go to homes next week just 7 miles down the road!
