Unbelievable.summerblues wrote:Commentators here just said that Stan has been winning his matches doing nothing, just waiting for his opponents to make errors. Whereas players like Andy and Nole have "that other level" where they win by attacking.
I suppose so then...
Is that the house radio in the mental hospital?

As an aside, between all the Suisse stereoptypes, which do you think would suit Stan? His slight tummy bulge makes me think that he could be a pretty convincing Swiss Chocolatier... Federer definitely looks more like a Chronographer.

Summer - Yeah, and its not as much a case of me wanting Djoko to lose as it is me really liking Stan the player. I even started a Stan Appreciation Thread on the old 606.

Good start from stan, am I right in thinking he was 6-1 5-1 up against Novak in the aussie open?

Novak really hates the wind but I don't know why seeing as there's nothing about his game that suggests it's fallible to wind.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
Can't even imagine Stan grinding. I'm torn in this match. I'd love Stan to win but he isn't troubling Nadal, for all his brilliant play this week. In contrast, Novak has a great chance in the final. I'm therefore sitting on the fence hoping for a great match but for the winner to be fully fresh in the final!summerblues wrote:Commentators here just said that Stan has been winning his matches doing nothing, just waiting for his opponents to make errors. Yeah, I know you are a Rafa fan, was just kidding a bit.kingraf wrote:Summer - Yeah, and its not as much a case of me wanting Djoko to lose as it is me really liking Stan the player. I even started a Stan Appreciation Thread on the old 606.
I do not like Rafa at all and would love him to lose, and I realize Nole is the only guy who can beat him here, yet I cannot bring myself to root for Nole today; I really hope Stan can win this today.

Another double fault at a key moment for the collection!
This is really poor from Novak. A Stan win may be the merciful option because Rafa would destroy this Novak in the final!

Nice set. Stan is playing fine but surely Nole can play better than this? This is not even competitive.

I am personally against RFIDing LF, I know Barrack Obama's team are doing their best to bring it to implementation in US and we Canadians are already afraid knowing it will sooner or later reflect in our nation as well.laverfan wrote:

Someone suggested RFIDing every human when they are born (at least in the Western World).

Great start. Stan has such easy power its ridiculous. Djokovic making UEs but many are coerced by Stan because he hits hard and low, the combo Novak doesn't like at all.
Still, its early days and Djokovic WILL improve.

36% first serve from Stan and yet Novak lost his serve 3 times?! Astonishing.

Stan is on a tear right now. Djoko needs to keep this close and try wait it out, no point trying to take down a rampaging Beast when your best weapons are malfunctioning, and all you have is your rusty leatherman

Wawrinka's change of pace in these rallies is frightening, super racket head speed. Loving this new and improved forehand this season

Lets put this straight we need to have either Stan vs. Gasq final or Rafa vs Nole final, any other combination would be rubbish.

Who would offer the biggest challenge to Rafa? Novak in poor form or a SHBH first time finalist in good form?
I'm actually starting think Stan has the better chance!

Stan I guess lived in Roger's shadow for quite long, his talent and skills where seen long time back when he took on Marat Safin in USO 2006/2007, he really wasted his talent all these years, great sight to watch.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
He shanks a backhand like Federer
If Stan gets that first serve working he can win this in straight sets but it goes without saying that just over 30% of first serves in is nowhere near acceptable. Better returners than Djokovic would make him pay for that. Oh wait...

Since the start of Wimbledon, Novak's break point conversion rate has been abysmal.

Gotta say this it looks like Wawrinka is schooling Djoko on how to play aggressive and classy, Nole has completely gone backwards in agressive style, thank GOD for Stan to step it up and save tennis from boring attrition defensive breed of tennis.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
Wawrinka's unusual choppy slice is such a good defensive shot. I'd say he's winning more due to his backhand (hitting some beauties down the line in this game) than the forehand ...
