11pm start in Serbia and Spain (and most of Europe).

How come no one made a thread for this great match and and spare us going 10+ pages for this thread?

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
Terrible start time given that most of the players likely to be in the final are European. Really a Sunday final has got to be the way forward.
1pm NYC 6pm UK 7pm Europe works fine for instance.
In Asia it's early morning and people are going to work, so this doesn't work for anyone except the American continent.

Seats about half full, understandable, people probably stuck in rush hour commutes trying to get there after work or just leaving work. I assume it will be full by end of set 2.

So this is where the match will be discussed? But its ten pages in, and this is a Slam final!

Queen Sofia out there supporting Nadal. I was really hoping to see Jay Z in the crowd, cheering his fellow Lucky Lefty. She'll do

If you want you can put a new thread up, or I could change my "preview" thread to "live final"...

HB - Probably better to just change the name of your thread. Although it seems like its going to be a quiet slam final in 606

Nadal drew first blood and then gave Djoko a couple of slaps too.

Stat - Rafa has never come back from a set down to beat Djoko on hard court. Djoko has come back 3 times.

Interesting stat, Julian. Im not sure its any less than an aberration, if Im honest. Taking a guess, I would say those three occasions were IW 2011, Miami 2011, and Australia 2012. So, essentially, the time when Djoker was unbelievably hot. Of course, its a long way back if Nole does take a set, but I would remain confident. I

Nadal is starting to boss these rallies with that imperious forehand. Whoever's idea it was for Novak to come to the net so frequently seems to have miscalculated...badly

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
Nadal is now toying with Djoko, and Djokos net play is akin to suicide, net coverage is a disaster.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
Nadal's forehand is making the difference. Seems to be the only shot of either player capable of hitting through the other.
I thought the first break of serve was a bit tame but that one was amazing play.

Novak sure loves to do it the hard way. Certainly he'll have his moments despite that poor first set.
