The rest of my afternoon will be spent with Mrs. SB, so you guys enjoy and make sure that I get home to find out that it will be Stan vs Richard on Monday.
TC, did not mean to offend you earlier on, so good luck on your betting.

Every Djokovic Semi final should just skip to the part where he is saving match points, it would save a lot of time

If Djokovic could hire a hypnotist to convince him he is match point down on every point, he would be the GOAT by now.

I'd rather this than Sampras' boring play, unless you'd rather majors were BO3 I do think one of the USO or AO need speeding-up though. Both are too similar.bogbrush wrote:Endurance wins over shotmaking.

This is, and please I do not mean any offense so much as making an observation, Novak and Rafa are frankly in another class to Murray, when the chips are down

What is it with these Swiss players and their back injuries? I think Stan's looking pretty deflated at the moment and who can blame him.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
That was rude SB, poor chap feeling his luck swaying away from him and you write a comment like this , yea these days everybody pass a comment and then end up saying it was a joke/sense of humor etc,. this is becoming a joke a now.summerblues wrote:Oh, it was not that rude; it was in good humor.TopoftheChops wrote:No need to be so rude.summerblues wrote:I am sure we all really care.TopoftheChops wrote:I'm going to lose my bet now...
It is just that people sometimes comment here on how well/not so well they may have done in their betting and it has always struck me as an odd thing to do, so for once I commented on it.
But again, it was all in good humor, obviously I do not actually have any problem with people commenting here on their luck, or lack thereof.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
I think Stan will be up for it in the fifth, I sometimes feel lower ranked players who go two sets up against the big dogs almost consign themselves to playing a five setter. Which is what happend here I think

Stan needed a break in this 4'th set. Hope he can churn some amazing shots in fifth, and keep it short, say 6:3.

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
Time and again we have seen a great performance from an outsider only to lose in the finals, last few occurrences that come to my mind are
1]Baggy in AO 2006
2]Gonzo in AO 2007
3]Tsonga in AO 2008
4]Murray in USO 2008
5]Soderling in FO 2009
6]Soderling in FO 2010
7]Berdych in Wimbledon 2010
The only exception I remember is Del Potro in USO 2009, had a great GS and could have easily lost in the finals as well but now some how held his nerves, confidence to snatch an incredible win.
I hope Stan do a Del Po and not the 7 listed above, but first of all he need to win this match to get to that list. Come on Stan the Man

Surely Nadal's so great he doesn't need a tired Djokovic? It's not like a tired Djokovic v Nadal is anything like a tired Djokovic v Murray of course.

I doubt this match will finish Nole (Since AO2012, Ive given up thinking Nole has a breaking point physically) but I love me the five setters, its like nothing else in sports

Re: US Open - Matches - continued
I hate to say this, but Djoko is proving why is the world no.1, so calm and confident on pressure situations, Stan is playing some real delightful shots yet losing the points coz of Djoko's court coverage and 1 more shot attitude, Stan is messing up the points at the end after playing some delightful shots within the point.

I am certainly not sure I will see this class and variety in Djoko-Rafa final if it happen, thats the fun in watching an attacker vs defender and not defender vs defenders.

Novak has entered "sponge mode" and is soaking up pretty much everything from Stan. The Swiss is just about holding on but he's up against it.

To Stan's credit he is doing his every bit to hold on which itself a great thing, but Djoko is relentless in absorbing pressure. The Special Juan wrote:Novak has entered "sponge mode" and is soaking up pretty much everything from Stan. The Swiss is just about holding on but he's up against it.

Djoko in wall mode, nothing special shots, but making sure every shot is returned, on the other hand Wawrinka hitting some real spectacular shots and making some unforced errors as well.

Djokovic 2011 would have taken this game first time
*I have no idea whether this is true or not, but I needed to take a pre-emptive strike
