The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing picture of Micky T above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
One concession I will happily make Notch - if Ulster can still realistically qualify from the pool then I will agree with you.
However I suspect them to have lost away to both Tigers and Clermont and will fare worse in the bonus point scheme that either of them. I suspect by the time Ravenhill rolls around it may not matter and that is a big part of my thinking.
If its a crunch match then game on.

Glas, I can't even translate that last bit
And we all talk toilet in here a lot of the time, no need to jump down each other's throats for it.
Glas, also, do you know if we've signed Garin up as a coach for the whole season, or just till the end of December?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Have to say can't wait for December. Comfortably the best month I'm going to have all year.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Fair enough so. But I can't see us being out of it when you consider the Amlin is available to second placed sides. If we lose to Aironi away for instance, thats a variable could put us miles off the pace. But even if we're out of it I think even just for the occassion it'll be hard for anyone to want it more than us. Thats just the way this team is.
Now if you'd said coming up with an idea more complex than a Spence crash ball to harness that passion and desire...
Honestly Hughie, two good friends with a great deal of mutual respect for each other have a minor disagreement. Why get involved? Stag respects me and i respect him. A friend is somebody you can throw the proverbial kitchen sink at and shrug it off because of that underlying respect.
People have some image of me on here which has nothing to do with me in real life, I swear to god.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Stag I would say that by the time Tigers arrive at Ravenhill we could be ahead in the group. See Hughies earlier post. So I don't agree Tigers will "want" to win more than Ulster. Ulster will go all out for the win and will go to Clermont with a chance of qualifying. You and I both know that will be a ginormous task but anything can happen.
Any Tigers fans we spoke to after the game said they were not looking forward to coming to Ravenhill.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I'm sorry if you feel like that to be honest. Partly because it doesn't really reflect the reality of me sitting in a comfy chair in my parents house listening to jazz and enjoying a relaxing Sunday evening while posting on an internet forum. I'm not in danger of wrecking the place like!
But mainly because its just unfortunate you should feel that way.
I do like the picture mind you. I should make that my avatar. Notch... smash jqwlkscx!!!

I would do Movember but for two reasons.
1) My girlfriend doesn't like em and things would bode badly for me.
2) My father has a moustache. We look alike enough without doing this.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
We have a wee team going, but no-ones taking it seriously. Two days in one of our guys was 'sponsored' £20 by his girlfriend to shave it off and never, ever grow it back. Que sera eh?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
To be fair thats £20 for the charity. How are you getting on at it?
Probably the last reason I wouldnt opt for Movember is that everyone does it and the contribution you can make is really limited.

Thats true.- I mean, how many people can you sponsor? I can't sponsor anyone else I already donated to my own team! It is a good bit of craic though. If you're not interested in keeping/getting a girlfriend in the month of November!
Although I'm told there are a tiny minority of women who view a thick moustache very favourably...
100 euros. Half of it came from a very generous (if limited in ability) international rugby player. Blown away by his generosity in all seriousness. What a guy! Surprised he can even work PayPal after those knocks to the head.
Other half is all in my Dads name but it's actually contributions from my non-computer literate grandparents. They gave him some cash and he passed it on if you like.
Oh, ahem.

If anyone is interested.

Ah no, Prop its grand like... I feel the same way. I have to discipline myself to get quite a lot done tomorrow. And then I'm doing some other work on a few songs with this very talented lad I know which means in the studio until Midnight tomorrow! Mondays are a long day, I mean I'm in at 9.
And I love it and all!

Glei is Welsh for "feicin right!", but is not a swear word.
E.g. Ti moin chips? (do you want chips?)
Ydw (Yes)
Ydw, beth? (yes, what?)
Ydw glei! (Yes, feicin right I do!)
No idea on Garin. Hope it's more permanent.

Morning folks, some weekend of rugby AGAIN!
I think Heineken would want to be revising their sponsorship fee’s fairly soon, because this tournament gets better and better.
ANOTHER ROG winner at the death, an Italian team grids out a draw, an 11 try bonanza at Murrayfeild. Madness, long may it continue!

Agree with you Mick. I can't think of another competition like this.
Look at the UEFA Champions League in soccer - not a patch on it.
I hear people all the time wanting Euro Leagues and creating conferences and all kinds of shoite. Why mess with what is clearly a winning formula?
The bonus point system has been the lynchpin of the HEC for me. It has pushed the tournament to constantly better itself.

Mick I see that ASM had EIGHT different players score tries at the weekend??
Thats an amazing feat regardless of opposition. If Brock James could kick outside of France you'd be sorted.

I really don't know what to expect from that match, Stag. It's true that our away form isn't as good as our home form, but it's not as though we never win on the road. Plus, it's only the Chiefs.

Morning
This is my last day of being able to post in here during the day...that's probably a good thing!
I haven't had a bad weekend at all. Enjoyed the Heino games I saw (I didn't see all of them). I think you're right Staggy in that this competition offers more entertainment - you never quite know which teams could make it or get knocked out really. It's still wide open at this stage.

The revamped Amlin has been another revelation. Teams will fight in every game as they can continue the Euro Odyssy longer.
I really like our games against Brive and Harlequins last year; it didn't feel like a lower tier tournament. Dragons v Chiefs will be great.

I've never watched one of their games but they appear to be a tough team to beat. So far this year they have played 8 matches and won 3 of them. However they claimed 4 losing bonus points.
