The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

PJ, we are not, my friend, but nor are we going to grow up any time soon. How are we going to get you up for the Heino final? We were talking about it last night before MickyT lost it - but what goes on tour ...PJHolybloke wrote:Rava wrote:Knackered.com

Thanks for the good wishes on the England win regs.
I expect the niceties to cease shortly before Super Saturday, but in the mean time .

I'm sure there's a way to lift your game for the Heino - I'll come up with something.
Now, back to MickyT then... what did he lose? Control of his bowels?

Asbop,
It's a shame I couldn't meet up with you guys, it's just it turns out my family had all this stuff planned for my birthday after the game and we went and had a meal and all the rest of it. Seems like good times.
It was a very enjoyable game of rugby. It's always nice when they decide not to tackle, makes it exciting. I don't think Rob Kearney liked the look of Richie Gray but we won and it was a decent game so I'm happy enough.

Telegraphs review of the match was pretty scathing towards that incident Notch. The journalist said Trimble should have been carded. Very nasty clash. The beeb are really getting their money's worth for this slow mo technology.

The Telegraph review was looking at a different game anyway. I think I looked at the Guardian one too. I seem to recall they both thought Ireland were lucky to pull that win out of the bag considering how off they looked and how much more classy the Scots were. I don't know what year they were refering to so I might be taking them up wrong. But that's the gist of what I remember from them!

Watched it again- Trimble went for man and ball, but ended up clashing heads with Jones. I don't think there was any malice- pure luck Trimble didn't come out worse from it than he did.

My view was also that Trimble went for man and ball with his arms ready to wrap, after the head clash he understandably fell away. There was nothing in that tackle that appeared remotely malicious in my view.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Maybe they were looking at the tackle through their patented “opposity vision” cameras because it was just an unfortunate clash of heads. I mean why on earth would Trimble want to hit Jones on the bonce? And you can’t wrap your arms after taking a blow to the head anyway (see BODs hit on Russow in the Lions second test).
Still feeling the effects of the Saturday session, and yesterday while hungover my apartment just started to fall apart out of sympathy. Out of nowhere the light fitting just fell from the ceiling and smashed on the floor. I nearly lost my mind with the fright!

Bore da pawb / good morning all. Back in work today but I've had a great week off and it doesn't feel like it's flown by, which is always good.
Glad you had a good weekend, Mickado. I find my hangovers last a good few days now, whereas when I was younger I'd hardly have a headache the next morning.

Yeah, any day i know i'm having a few drinks i have to write off the following day for doing anything at all.
There's also that horrible "boozey blues" feeling which is becoming less worth it as i get older. Sure i hardly drink any more these days, if i have 2 weeks in a row where i have 1 night out per week it's a novelty.

Morning folks, tried to watch the England game yesterday but I kept dozing off.
A staggy style list from the weekend
1. Turns out I do get stressed while flying
2. Lock ins are still great
3. Asbo is a certified Irish Whiskey Taster
4. Having pi$$ed and moaned about pub selection, Booterstown was a shout
5. It's a long way to the top of the Aviva
6. Richie Grey needs a haircut (flocking hippy)
7. Keith Earls did not dive
8. I do like cassidys
9. Micky T has a look of Simon Easterby about him
10. You still can't beat a chicken fillet burger and a scallop when drunk.
11. Half nine flights are ROUGH

Oh, I need to have a word with you son. Your dad pinched Amanda’s arse in Cassidys. Which means I get to honk your ma’s knockers… just to even things up…

Hughie,
First of all Staggie style lists are the business!!!! Welcome to the club.
Second of all SUPER call regarding Micky Easterby.
Third of all 2012 is definitely the best tournament I can recall in quite a while.
Scotland v England
Ireland v Wales
Italy v England
England v Wales
Scotland v France
France v Ireland
France v England
Have all been decided by less than a score. That is AMAZING!!!!
And next weekend is probably going to be the tightest of all with Wales v France, Italy v Scotland, England v Ireland.

Jerome Kaino out for 6 months, and Rene Ranger suspended for 2 weeks. Tough times for Pat Lam.

I don’t see why he would be. All reports are saying that training is going well and he’ll be back in contact soon.
I think because he was injured so long ago there was only a general “he’ll be back towards the end of the season” statement put out, so that’s probably why this all seems sudden.

Great weekend. One of the highlights (which I missed in Cassidys), was Shelle walking on As's back in high-heels. She said he wanted more.
A man after me own heart that lad.
EVERY time REF!
Stag, I think we may have made a lot of Munster refs around us, laugh and cry at the same time. So much craic.
Really wanted to watch the game again yesterday. No UPC/SKY here. Then I remembered RTE Iplayer actually works in Ireland like. Duh?
Watching it now. Grand. Will check England' s great win also.
P.S. Mickado, Amanda is just a stunning girl. In every sense. But you know that already. She had me pishing myself laffing on your house-proud manner.

Can you rush someone back after 5 months?
If BOD has had this op to alleviate problems with his shoulder that were affecting his life as well as his rugby I doubt he would,
"Spoil the ship for a happorth 'o tar!"
by coming back before he was ready.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning.
The most exciting thing about the first half in Cardiff was the stewards remonstrating with a man who would not give the ball back to the ball boy. He was sitting in the right seat as the ball went to him twice in the second half as well. The ball boy had been given a few lessons in diplomacy by then and just waded through the crowd to get it himself on those occasions.
Interesting that Wales had a tackle bag session AFTER the anthems.

I’m unfamiliar with that expression MrsP but I agree (I think). the man knows his body, he’s not going to rush back and put himself at risk again.
He also seems to have dropped a few kg’s, maybe we’ll see him gain back that “yard of pace” that everyone likes to talk about!
Gibbo – yeah I knew that would come up at some stage during the night, didn’t expect it after 3 pints though

Yeah Mick. When he came back in 2009, after a forced-break, he was electric.
It was a smart thing to do timing-wise. He will be fresh for Leinster's run-in and for the NZ Tour. As will Leo.

We made such a start in the first two or three minutes, Glas - George North and Alex Cuthbert both breaking tackles. It was ferocious. Gethin Jenkins's decision to kick those early penalties for the corner was poor, though. Points on the board has to be the call in the opening stages of any game.

Unless you can back it up like Ireland did!
We had a move in mind though, and it came off. So often teams go to the corner and it's just a very telegraphed catch and drive which isn't executed that well.
