The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

It would work if we all had access to a folder called C:\Documents and Settings\mickado's real name\My Documents\My Pictures\
That had a file called 207618_1016431923981_1020592043_30046985_3100_n.jpg in it
You need to click the "host it" button, then copy and paste the new IMG link.

Kiwi, I tried it again in google images this time, when you drag the photo over it says drop the image, but once you have dropped the image, where do you see the "host it" icon?

Ah yeah they get like that, especially when they are going through the "teething" stage. The only draw back is that their teeth are so needle sharp at that age, it can really hurt!
I know my dog used to have a facination with feet when she was a puppy, needless to say as a 6yr old, I did not appreciate my toes being nibbled by v sharp teeth.
Nice one on the house training though. I know my uncle had a nightmare with his new dog, she'd just get so over excited to see new people, she'd have "accidents" all the time, took them a while to get her to remember to go outside!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
When you click on the "host an image" button above the v2 post editor box a box will come up with space for the file location, and a "host it" at the bottom. Clicking that brings up 3 different codes - an html link coded link, a pure url link and another one I can't remember right now. I normally copy the bottom one (the pure url link), and paste that into the box that comes up when you click the "image" button. Then spoiler it and you're done.Mickado wrote:Hmmm, well it worked before. which is possibly because I did it from my personal laptop, and now I’m in work.

Haven't tried that. If it's in google images you shold be able to just copy the URL path, click on the "image" button above your editor box on V2 and paste. Then spoiler.

On 606 click the host image button. Then it will have browse button that will let you browse to you file. Then select "host it". It will give you 3 different URLs when it’s done, copy and paste the last one and click “host”. Then on 606 click the “image” button, paste in the URL, then click ok. then highlight all of the text that’s been populated into the text box below, then select “spoiler”.

I must be honest, I didn;t know they could lift, but then they do get pro contracts at age 10, so I suppose it is the pre curser.

See, that's why the Saffers have some of the best forwards on Earth. They start them really early in technique. The NH is full of child & adult wusses.

Cotton wool kids!
Why, when I were a lad our parents wouldn't wrap us in cotton wool like the kids of today. Used to serve us half-cooked chicken and the like. Food Poisoning? More like 'character building!'. Every time I was naughty my Dad would chop off a limb. Soon learned not to cheek him.
Gibbo is absolutely right mind you.

Thanks Dreamer. So do I. Fed up with it now, and being home is actually a bit dull when you can't go off and do anything or see anyone.
Lucky - the pup's really cute. My sister's got another jack russell. They've already got one, and have had him for years, and now he's joined by an eight week old pup. Seem to be getting on though.

Are you not the very one who is always advocating that we should not have our youngsters playing the adult game until they are well into their teens in all sports?
I have to say I'm not sure that having 8 years olds lifting in the lineout is a good idea.

Cari - aye I bet. Seems to be a lot of nasty stuff going round at the moment though, there's a couple of people here off work with something that sounds like what you've got.
Guess all you can do is rest up, and watch a load of dvd's or something. You got any rugby ones to watch? that might make you feel better

I tihnk it is a good thing, if you learn the necessary skills at a young age like that, balance etc comes to you much quicker than when older. Remember it isn't gung ho tough yet, these boys are only learning the art of rugby now. I beleive it is more dangerous to all of a sudden learn a new skill when boys have been playing rugby for a number of years and are piling into line outs with a killer instinct.
These boys will naturally learn these skills as it becomes tougher.

I definitely caught this at work - our building seems to let germs thrive. Today's the first day I've been fit enough to stay awake and up. I've got quite a few rugby DVDs actually....not just Welsh ones either I've got a few things that I've yet to finish watching so I might get around to them at some point. Daytime telly's rubbish that's for sure!

So true. They dont have to go full contact at a young age, just learn the techniques to improve their game and to protect themselves also.
We could learn a lot from the respective SH nations ways. Take from them what suits us. In fact, we should make it our business to, if we ever want to consistently match em.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Fair enough MrsP. Of course kids MUST be sensibly protected. But, part of that is actually letting them do some things you may not like initially, at an early age. Its a tricky balance and one I had to learn too.
I learned a lot from the Dutch ways to be honest. Used fight most of them, but when I look around me now, Im glad I succumbed.
No choice anyway, they learned these ways in school, with friends and in sport.
Thats where the Saffers get it from. They had to earn it the hard way when young.
Zelfstandig, at the earliest age possible, is the way to go. Better for them in the long run.
Old man Gibbo.

I think we are at cross purposes here Gibbo?
I'm not sure how extolling the virtues of the "Dutch" way of teaching the basics and not getting too worried about playing matches or full teams till much later and encouraging the SA way of full teams and lifting at U9s?
I'm just confused as those 2 approaches seem at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of developing kids.

MrsP,
I am talking about making kids as independent as possible and not over molly-coddlying them. That goes for sport and in Life.
Nothing complex there.
