First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

I know its only having a laugh and a mess. I just think its yet another example of people going to the games without giving IRELAND their full support.

I agree with Mrs. P. Problem is there isn't any friggin atmosphere at Ireland games anymore and if I can get some going by singing SUFTUM then I will. Really Stag, is it only SUFTUM that annoyed you? I can assure you (check with my Leinster buddies) I was a hell of a lot more vocal than most of the people sat around us. Oh and I was wearing my Ireland beanie/Ireland Scarf/Ireland shirt/Ireland Hoodie. There were many others around wearing their provincial shirts/scarves. Does that make them poor Ireland supporters? You are too easily annoyed Stag

Well I’ve sang the fields on many occasions, despite it being a song about another province (Connacht) and I’d sing away with any SUFTUM that’s going (I wouldn’t start it but I’d join in). none of those bother me at all, but Ireland’s call is really embarrassing.

At the Wales game, myself, Stag, Dreamer and MickyT, all in a row all arm in arm singing (well Dreamer probably wasn’t singing) and all I could think was “god I hope nobody else I know sees me singing this thing”. it’s really shocking stuff.

I really like Irelands Call but only at home. They treat it as a pop tune away with no drums and too Oirished up. they basically just put on a CD.

Well,

If we could all learn all 98 verses of "Irelands Call" sure that would keep us in good voice for the whole match!

If I was asked to go into battle to the strains of Ireland's Call...I'd probably be shot for cowardice and desertion a few minutes later (they'd use the one bullet for the two offences of course as bullets can't be wasted in war).

We had a chance to compose something truly spine-chilling for our 'second' anthem - and we cooked up a pub singalong.

I disagree Secret.

It's not good for a "crowd" song but few things in sport have moved me as much as Ireland's Call sung at Croke Park before the match against England in 2004(?).

Dreamer - I'm nearly 24 years of age. I dont want to be living with my mam and dad. Plus I greatly enjoyed the 2 years that I used to live away. I only moved back in because of my last year of uni. Im earning now and I pay rent at home anyway.

1 million per cent right idea. In same town though so I can visit etc.

I'd happily sung Molly Malone at an Ireland game- it was a well-known Irish folksong before it was ever associated with Leinster.

Stag - aye sounds like the right idea to me OK

Not sure I could ever live again at home now. A weekend back at home every now and then is enough for me. I know parents would drive me nuts, and I reckon I'd be guaranteed to drive them nuts too now I think.

And I've just realised over the weekend I'm starting to get a bit "old" (not really but still). Friday was my last ever free check up at the dentist. Once I turn 25, I shall have to pay for them. Not happy Sad

Also my "baby cousins" are now 16 and 13 (and the 13yr old is now taller than me!), and the 16yr old wants to come and stay with me in the Diff for a weekend. I will have to look after her. It'll be really nice to see her but I'm not quite sure I'm happy with having to be the "responsible" one for a change!

The French scrum performed much better when Servat came on. I would start with him this week and give him 50 minutes and then bring on Szarzewski.

No, I was reacting (belatedly) to Glas posting up the France squad.

BBC are reporting SOB should be fit for Saturday.

Sean O'Brien will be in contention for a recall when Ireland's team for Saturday's Six Nations clash against England is announced on Tuesday.
O'Brien missed Saturday's win over Scotland because of a foot infection and was replaced by Peter O'Mahony.
However, Ireland manager Michael Kearney said on Monday that O'Brien should be available for selection.
Rory Best [ribs] and Donnacha Ryan [shoulder] are nursing knocks but both are expected to be fit.
O'Brien, who was replaced by Peter O'Mahony for Saturday's game, had to spend time in hospital because of the skin infection.
However, he was released from hospital over the weekend and took part in training in Monday.
Captain Best and Ryan rested on Monday and Kearney indicated that that both players' training is likely to be curtailed for the remainder of the week.
"We are continuing to monitor Rory's bruised ribs but we expect him to be fit for the weekend," said Kearney.
"Donnacha Ryan took a blow to the shoulder, but we expect him to be fit too."
Ryan performed excellently after replacing injured skipper Paul O'Connell for the win over the Scots while O'Mahony also had a solid outing at flanker.

Would you:
1. Keep the back row the same as last week?
2. Replace POM with a fit again SOB? or
3. Replace Heaslip with a fit again SOB?

Hmmmm!

chin

I am not convinced that someone who required hospitalisation for an infection could be fully fit in a week.

I'd go for option (1).

With option (3) as a back-up!

Evening pub cuppa

Very happy with England's win yesterday. I went for England by 3 on SG simply because it was on my sister's birthday and I hoped that might bring us some luck. It worked! Yahoo

Dreamer, thanks for the text hon. Sorry I didn't reply but I didn't read it till late on and it was too late to text you. I missed the game live as we were out having lunch for sister's birthday and watched a recording last night. Managed to avoid all radio, tv and other communication methods till I'd watched it!

It's amazing how people see the same game differntly.

O'Briens best game of the tourney was against France, O'Mahoney had a fine game against Scotland but he was no better than O'Brien.

Anti-Leinster bias, propagated by George Hook, and you're all buying into it.

I'd be saying O'Mahony for more experience at a high level - invaluable, especially when he's on a high and confident from his last outing. Not because he's better than O'Brien. Squad building in meaningful competition. Advance training for the year ahead when O'Brien might be injured again.

Excuse Me!

I have neither read nor listened to anything that fool has said about SOB!

My comments were based on my doubt that SOB could really be fully fit a week after an infection severe enough to require hospitalisation!

You Leinster eejits are all the same! You think everyone has you all tarred with the same brush!

And my best mate put this up on my facebook, can't help but like it

And I agree with her on the best line: "The more we drink, the more we sing Calon Lan".

Ah man, roll on Saturday, can hardly wait for it!
