The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Belfast, as Red Stag is still struggling to come to terms with Munsters QF loss to Ulster
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Brian McLaughlin, John Hart, Duncan Bell, Michael Lynagh, Mick O'Driscoll, Deiniol Jones and Shane Williams.
Get well "Noddy" Lynagh - our thoughts are with you.

Funny that!
Our youngest spent the whole journey home from ballet today explaining to her grandmother that Ulster can not win the match at the weekend because we play in White and Leinster play in Blue.
Apparently she got quite grumpy when this line of thinking was questioned.
Then she went upstairs and sang "SUFTUM!"to herself at the top of her lungs for ages!

Ha! Fair dues E. Scarlets could still make a fan very happy in the PRO12. Its there if they go for it. They missed out cruelly last year.

How did I manage to post the same thing twice?
The Scarlets should have got a bonus point out in Aironi, they probably would've done if the Italian Federation hadn't kicked them out. They looked quite good at times. The Scarlets problem now is that they've got a few injuries to key players JD2 for one, out for the rest of the season with a hernia problem. They're looking very sparse at centre.

Head over ball Xavi. Head over ball compadre.
Really E? But ye have 2 x home games to finish it off (one assumes one is going ja?) And anything can happen between the rest. Treviso may end Warriors hopes. Scarlets could enhance theirs and severely damage Munster hopes in one fell-swoop...

Lads, the Barca fans are just as bad for b!tching and diving. Despite my prediction with Munsty I laid on a fiver for a 1-0 Chelsea win.

When I were a lad and we played Bro Myrddin, Stevo was the best inside centre I'd ever seen at 15. Botica made him an outside half. He's a classic second thee sevenths.

1-0 would be great considering the disparity between them, T. Wont be enough though. They need 2-0 to stand a realistic chance away.

Hmm, but say they nick an away goal in that tie suddenly it'll get very interesting. Barca are obviously favourites but it's poised delicately.

I could see Chelsea grabbing a goal, Barca are not invincible and by all accounts have played average in their last few games. Would be difficult but not impossible.

Buenas tardes, amigos. All well? All on my own due to Himself being short handed at his work - so, what's new? Probably going into Embra tomorrow with Big Sis and BiL - they arrived from Suisse on Monday. Will be either Botanic Gardens or newly revamped National Museum of Scotland, depending on the weather. To the extent that the weather can be depended on in Central Scotland. Not.
Mrs P, I think I have managed to reconfigure my AV spaghetti so that I can burn discs from Sky+ - will let you know when/if the Big Match has been immortalised on (?) plastic/unknown hi-tech substance.

Anything possible Notch and might be easier to score in Spain this season than last.
Problem is Barca are capable of putting four or five in against anyone.

That was my mantra for years red/black good, blue/white bad. Marlborough (yay) red, Nelson Bays (boo hiss) Blue. Canterbury (yay) red & black, Auckland (boo) blue & white. New Zealand black ...
Then they merged Marlborough and Nelson ...
Had a phone interview for a new job tonight, straight afterwards the interviewer sent my agent an email to tee up a face to face

Yeah Rav. They are a far superior side. They are in the Final.
Chelsea are to Barca as AZ were to Valencia.

evening all, hope everyone's well.
Was out for a work colleagues leaving do tonight, the food and company was brilliant. Just got to tell the rest of them that I'll be leaving now too!
Swanny - hope you have a lovely weekend! Jealous of your 3 day week (and I don't care that I just had one myself!)
Can't believe Barca didn't score there at the end. Ridiculous.
And only 3 more sleeps till a Scarlets day. Happy with that.

Nah man. Barca are bemused as to how that actually happened. Payback time at Camp Nou.
English Prem league football is the most over-hyped league on the Planet. Germany & Spain's Leagues are far better.

Madrid are a shambles defensviely but they will beat Bayern. They need a guy like Carvalho in there or Albiol and get that clown Ramos out of centre back.
The Spanish league is woeful. It will turn into the Scottish league within 10 years. The German league is the best to watch, cheapest to see live (I think I heard Schalke fans were outracged when thier tickets were raised to €20!) and ultra competitive. No wonder they sell out their stadiums.
Rav, it's been 5 years since administration, there was a rumour going around that creditors would have to have been payed in full if they got to the prem within that time. Maybe Bates might actually try and support the team now.
Also Ireland can take a lot from Chelsea's win, I hope Trap watches how you can beat Barca/Spain.

Aye of course I will T. Looking forward to this gymnastics chap of yours with the incredible back story. Are the Ireland football team sending an under 21 side?
Another Olympics story which broke over the weekend was that Greece aren't sending hardly anyone to London.

Ireland didn't qualify. Katie Taylor is our biggest hope for gold. All the boxers are in with a good medal shout. The lad who beat former silver medal winner Kenny Egan for the Irish championship (Joe Ward) lost yesterday in controversial circumstances i.e. to a Turkish boxer in a Turkish match (go figure) and lost his appeal too.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
The Olympics are so confusing from a supporting point of view. I mainly keep an ear to the ground for any athletes from Northern Ireland competing for Ireland or Britain and I'd generally support all Irish athletes. Then I'd support some British athletes as well but occasionally get 'England football team syndrome' and get fed up of the British media hype. Have a sort of mental backlash. But I really like Chris Hoy- that guy is the man. All class. I hope he does well. So when it comes to Cycling I'll be supporting the Brits alright.
The one thing I won't be doing is supporting the British football team in 2012. As far as football is concerned, the tradition is clearly four separate sides and the SFA etc. are right to want to withhold their players. I worry FIFA might think it's a great idea- that could cause riots in Glasgow

The welsh are on board Notch, I think. Or some of the players are at least. The Scots will have no dealings with it at all. I think some games are being played in Scotland so there will be plenty of guards on duty if team GB play there! Some of the British Athletes seem like good people Ennis, Ohorogu (spelling?) that Welsh 400m fella and Mo Farah are likeable and good at their craft.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Belfast
Yeah, most of those athletes tend to be quite humble, hard working and patriotic. I have a lot of admiration for that. I will be hoping Britain does well in these Olympics although I suspect it will be a case of bread and circuses when it comes around...
It's just hard to know how to react to the concept of 'Team GB'. Being Northern Irish and British means a very different thing to being Scottish and British which is very different to being English and British, and it's especially confusing if you have dual citizenship and an Irish passport into the bargain. When it comes to the Olympics I've no real idea who to follow
I'll definitely be following Ireland in the boxing quite closely mind you, I do every Games. A lot of guys from the North have contributed well to Irish squads in previous Olympics.

Gibbo, it isn't that good, watch it. It has two super clubs and two or three other decent clubs. Der Bundesliga ist die best in der Welt
I don't think the English clubs were too bothered by thew Europa league but that's another debate.
If you don't think Roy Keane was good then you're a moron. The Dutch knew about him in 2001 anyway.

I was asking whether you are agreeable to being addressed in the familiar 'tu' form, as opposed to the formal 'usted'. Thus 'tutear' is to address someone in the familiar. And your spanish did not let you down - 'me alegre que estas bien' does mean 'I'm glad that you are well'
