Olympics Day 8
First topic message reminder :
Just trying to get my breath back. THREE GOLDS yesterday, taking our total to 8. We sit 4th in the table, and with any good fortune should take 3rd today on Super Saturday.......will the cyclists, rowers, Mo and Jess make it a golden one?

Wow, the long jump is weak.
It seems like it hasn't moved on at all over the last twenty years.

Re: Olympics Day 8
First penalty was harsh in my opinion, you see them given for you and against you but I really think the defender hasn't done anything wrong. It's hand to ball like. Second, if you're a centre back it's harsh and he certainly made a lot of it but yes a penalty. Mon South Korea, makes the Irish fans cry!
Also Ramsey scored celebrity's have to watch their backs.

The American's milking his bronze a bit. Not sure what he's so proud about he's just been beaten by a ginge in an outdoor sports event.

Not liking this 10,000m....not the race Mo would have liked..could go anyway at all.
Well done Jess & Greg, very unexpected Gold...in fact unexpected Medal!! We could be on for 20 Golds which would be a fantastic result...so so amazing what we are doing when you consider the size of our population in comparison to others.

I think infrastructure and funding is as important as population to be honest Ozzy, there'a reason poorer nations do not succeed in the games. Olympic events are lower than their governments priority lists and private investors do not want to put in the cash.
GB seem to have the cash and the talent to succeed.

YESSSSSSS! GET IN THEIR MO....
That is the greatest Medal so far in these games, biased I know but having interviewed Mo in the build up to these games I have seen first hand what this means to him.
HAHAHAHA and he chucks in the celebration James Corden asked him to do when on A League of their own!!

I'd hate to be the guy at the BBC who had to try and narrow the Sports Personality of the Year award down to 10 people.

Re: Olympics Day 8
Sports Personality to be honest should be sewn up....it would be criminal if Wiggins doesn't win it....of course the likes of Mo & Jess deserve to be considered but given the fact Wiggins also won gold to go with his Tour De France then I think he has to take it...
Wiggins/Ennis/Farah ...if Farah does the double then it could get interesting...
Team of the Year - Can the whole of this Olympic Squad be nominated? If not then I would go with Team SKY.
Coach of the Year - Has to be Dave Brailsford what a job he has done....Van Commenee also will be in the mix given the change in fortunes for our athletics team.
Just so proud to be British right now...and their were those who questioned why we got the games. This is why...we are not only putting on a spectacle which is being embraced globally but we are showing that we are determined country who will punch above it's own weight.
Get in their GB!!!

Yes! Sorry lads nothing against you but the Irish who follow your clubs. Stunning penalties from Korean lads. The blue tongue didn't work from Butland. Stupid shimmy from Sturridge but doubt it would have made a difference he telegraphed it. It's not a lottery, great technique and bottle is what's needed.

Re: Olympics Day 8
Ignoring the football, Super Saturday for Great Britain. 6 Golds and 1 Silver. Our most successful day at an Olympics for 104 years.
Jess Ennis dominated the Heptathlon from start to finish.
Greg Rutherford won Gold with a fantastic leap.
Mo Farah ran the perfect 10,000m and stormed the final lap.
14 Golds for GB, only 5 off of Beijing's total. Super Saturday!

it really shouldnt bother you- people from all over the world follow our clubs- it is a great league. Its a good thing. And the reality is very natural that ireland should follow the prem due to us historically welcoming your players into the league. All your players play here.

These fans don't love football, Oakey, just glory hunters if they loved football they would support their local side. You're talking on something you don't know a lot about here.
