First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to Pyongyang in a bid to persuade Kim Jong Un to pack away the missiles, grab a beer and watch the rugby.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Donal Walsh, Chris & the late Hannah Eaton, the retiring Marcus Horan, the recently hospitalised Schalk Burger (with meningitis), the recuperated Jacques Burger, and the three-peating ANBL champion NZ Breakers

Back home. 40-4 final score.

Yes Lucky, don't feel too bad about it.

It will probably be Fiji... and maybe someone like Uruguay, Namibia or Georgia? Sure, it will be a mountain to climb for whichever team but MS is a great venue and the world demands (deep down) that we see Wales play there even if it does some unfair for your oppositio. Rather there than Kingsholm or Brighton... those capacities are too small. (no offence intended towards those townsfolk)

Full marks for making the point though. OK

"Euro-scepticism will break up the UK not the EU"

What the Tories should do in the face of UKIP's (relative) success is absolutely nothing at all. You don't win a debate by changing your argument. What I'm worried they'll do is move to the right to win back the voters they've lost, when UKIP aren't really a genuine threat Westminster-wise.

I love how the Lib Dems are explaining their poor showing: 'oh, it's because we're part of the coalition government'. No, it's because you have no discernible influence on the policies of the coalition government.

A bit like here with the Government relying on a handful of Independents/Greens to get into a precarious position of 'power' (hung Parliament here too) but they have now alienated them and destroyed themselves through mismanagement and constant bickering amongst themselves. They're shot now. The Libs (=Tory) will win a landslide on Sept. 14.

It's so funny (actually: not funny!) how Parties & individual Pollies start off in that uneasy 'coalition' after the Elections. All fake smiles. All the promises to "work together" on this and that. Then when mistakes are made; they draw their knives on each other, some resign... some get caught up in scandals and the whole bloody shop self destructs... sometimes dragging the economy down with them. It's a crime I tell ya!

It's no wonder so many people are disillusioned with politics. Also, when you see a policy statement shortly after some big story that's been in the news and you know it's been devised just to get good press. What sort of policy-making is that? Do what's right, not what's popular!

Also, the other day this billionaire named Clive Palmer has re-launched the United Australia Party... defunct since 1945.

http://wap.news.bigpond.com/articles/TopStories/2013/04/26/Clive_Palmer_says_he_wants_to_be_PM_867009.html

He's a total nutcase but he bought some mines at the right time and has been raking it in ever since.

What does he do with all that money? Build a replica of the Titanic - in China... but at least the plans were drawn up here. He has no hope of winning yet he's still going ahead and plans to have representatives in all 150 Electorates.

Leinster 14-12 Ospreys (hey, I'd take a LBP right now!)
Ulster 10-13 Blues (or Cardiff as the commentator keeps calling them)
Edinburgh 25-10 Dragons
Scarlets 10-13 Treviso
Zebre 25 -27 Munster

Gutted. The O's have are losing a chance of a LBP here 27-12 at 55 minutes to Leinster.

Afternoon pub. I'm in Boris Johnson territory, Henley for the Nat. 2 South title decider between Henley Hawks and Worthing.

There are Wasps connections on both sides with Wasps playing there A games at Henley and Worthing being coached by ex Wasps (& Leinster) prop, Will Green.

Should be a tense game

It's something many people have commented on Cari; the success of the national team and the relatively poor showing of the Regions in Europe.

There's another tranche of players leaving Wales for France and England. I can't see things improving for the Regions in the short term. The salary cap hasn't helped I guess.

Well hopefully with the P-12 coverage being sold off, the regions won't be at the mercy of the WRU financially. Only time will tell I guess.

Just watching Finals Day on S4C. Always a try fest these matches. Wattstown currently beating Fishguard. I would've gone but I'm off to the theatre later. I agreed to that first not realising this was on today.

Rhydyfelin v Heol Y Cyw now. Shame I'm going to miss the big one (Pontypridd v Neef) later. There's been some tidy rugby on show today.

They're playing these matches at the MS. Must be great for all these amateur players to get to play on the hallowed turf.

72-10 Yahoo

Well that's helped their points difference plus a couple of bonus points...... at long last.

Most ruthless display of rugby I've seen for a while in SXV. I don't know what Cheika said after the Bulls game but it sure worked.
It should have been more but they blew a few tries and of course missed some kicks.

Folau has definitely played himself into a Wallaby jersey. Watch out Lions! Wink

Afternoon All coffee

Beautiful day in Cardiff...perfect for the footballer's victory parade through town...needless to say I'm not going to watch. Am indoors watching Scrum V at the moment. Jeez, Treviso were superb in Llanelli on Friday. That's brilliant for Italian rugby.

I went to see The Woman In Black stage play last night. It was superb - I actually jumped about five times so it was as entertaining. Made me nervous at bedtime though - I kept waking up!

Hope everyone's well and those of us based in the UK enjoy the day off tomorrow Smile

Mawnin' coffee

It is indeed a warm and gorgeous day in the Diff (sorry Puma). Meeting up with my pal later and we're sorting our birthday trip to Scotland (her birthday is three days before mine). Och aye! Braveheart

When will that be, Cari? You and your pal are welcome chez Puma if you are going to be anywhere in the neighbourhood.

I've never followed Newport County really, Glas. I'm chuffed for them though, and it's only fair that all four Welsh clubs playing in the English setup end the season having won something: two cups, two promotions.

I'm really pleased for Dan Lydiate that he managed to get a try on his last appearance for the Dragons, but our defence has been absolutely dire all season and if Rob Appleyard is still in post next season, he really needs to buck his ideas up. We're not even giving ourselves a chance half the time.

Looking at the table, we only lost two more games than the Blues, but they picked up losing bonus points and we didn't. When we lost, we tended to do it in style. Sad

It would be boring if your local club were like Clermont.
