The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Pyongyang in a bid to persuade Kim Jong Un to pack away the missiles, grab a beer and watch the rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Donal Walsh, Chris & the late Hannah Eaton, the retiring Marcus Horan, the recently hospitalised Schalk Burger (with meningitis), the recuperated Jacques Burger, and the three-peating ANBL champion NZ Breakers

Nothing beats our free-to-air cricket here, Glas. We are truly spoiled.
But then I read only last week that Ch10 is making a bit for it. Ch 9 has had it for 36 years! Packer tried to make it a perpetual agreement (he did pretty well!) but his old station is being challenged now by Ten.

French media are reporting that Ronan O'Gara is poised to join Jonathan Sexton at Racing Metro for next season.
Sports newspaper, L'Equipe claim that the Munster out-half has agreed a 2-year contract to join the Paris club as an assistant coach.
Jonny Sexton cant catch a break.

Yep apparently ROG is going to Racing as a kicking coach...

I would've thought he'd done that at Munster if anywhere.
Evening All by the way. Hope everyone's well.

Morning all.
Typically, we had loads of "indoor" stuff yesterday when the sun was splitting the stones.
Today, standing outside all day at the Ulster Schools and, you guessed it, it's raining!
Well done Leinster last night.
Delighted you won.
Now, that'll do you for this year, okay!
Was that Gibbo's SIL I saw just as the second half started?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
Home sweet home...
Enjoyed that match tonight. The crowd was only 21,800 - should have been much more but a few other games were on at the same time. I think most of the locals were quite tentative about the Tahs chances from the start but they made some noise in the end.
I thought Mowen, Mogg, Hooper and Barnes (when he came on) looked class. Injuries to Douglas (concussion), TPN (fractured arm) and Pat McCabe (leg?).
Steve Walsh was pretty fair I thought... a couple of knee-jerk penalties awarded to both sides but generally consistent.
George Smith was off side all night! He looked a bit sore too... limping around near the end of the match.

It was indeed MrsP - she came up on the big screen at the ground.
Could anyone hear the SF band on the TV? They were great, and their rendition of Dirty Old Town went down a storm.
Today was a fantastic gathering of the 606 pub clan. Not all who attented the pre match event were 'pubblies' but there was about 35 in total.
€234 raised for the Crumlin Children's Hospital, who treated young Donal Walsh. Well done staggie on that one.
Fantastic to Rava for organising the venue, picture montage on a screen of previous meet up photos and the buffet.
And a shame Clermont blew it - everyone was gutted for
Most of the crew are in Cassidys in town, knocking out tunes on a guitar and generally having craic. Retired to the hotel for a leisurely Erdinger nightcap.

If you're going to get Boonie Tyler to do Eurovision, then blatently rip off a song she's famous for, like "Total Calypso of Fart" or "Holding nowt for a queer, oh"

I Bonnie. Had a pet guinea pig called Wimpey (he sired about 32 offspring) and he died the day after Elvis... August 17, 1977.
I then heard "Lost In France" on my little radio.... makes me feel kind of sentimental whenever I hear the tune.
How is everyone?
It's been a little quiet on here. I know it's been a strange time with an all-French HC and the Pro-12 on the near horizon.
Chins up everyone! All is not lost. Leinster look the favourites... but remember Toulon. Let the underdog have it's day I say...
Also, the Lions tour. If anyone wants to come out... there's always a place to stay here if you want (the sofa taken; but I can buy a few beds if needed! Plenty of space.) You know you are all more than welcome. Home away from home... that sort of thing. Serious!

Hey now,who you calling underdog willis? If Leinster let us have the same amount of possession as they let Stade and Glasgow have we will win!
I'm very confident about that. On present form Leinster are very beatable. The question is, will Leinster step it up a gear for the Grand Final as they have done for so many big games over the years.

Hi all, hope the regs are having a good time nursing their hangovers!
Quick question: we are getting the belfast-dublin train at 12.30 on Saturday.....what would be the odds of us managing to get out to Red Cow for the hotel and back in to the RDS by k.o? Also, what would be the quickest way to do it?

Sorry we didn't manage to get sorted. We were in Antrim in the pouring rain till about 7pm yesterday and we were knackered when we got home. Too tired to even watch the match. Ah well, at least you got fed by your mum!

This has been a good week for expanding my "met" list from here, as well as updating my "have already met" ones! It would have been good to see you but, sure we see you all the time anyway!

Cracking weekend, apart from I now have very painful gout (I suspect) and can barely walk. Gawd bless tha lass at security, she put me into the fast track.
I then made it to the bar/cafe, only to realise I had left my wallet and Oyster card in the tray at security. Thankfully someone had handed them in and Andy has retrieved them.
Phew.

Hey Prop.
Not sure if anyone answered your request above.
In terms of getting to the hotel you are in a central hub really.
@Connelly Station there is a Luas (Tram) Terminal. You can get this to right outside your hotel. It is about a 40 minute trip though.
In terms of going to the match, you can get the Luas back into Connelly Station and then get a Dart train out towards somewhere like Lansdowne and walk from there.
Drop us a shout on Facebook if you need more info.
Morning everyone. Absolute belter of a weekend and great to catch up with everyone again. It's funny how even though wouldn't have been chatting on here as much it does be like we had only met up the day before or something if that makes sense.
Great vibe and well done on the collection for Crumlin hospital. Always find that a classy touch on these meets.

Morning all,
It was great catching up Micky. I love the way everyone just fit together so seamlessly, and you're right, 'tis like we'd been catching up every week.
My Da was busy at the weekend, http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/agribusiness/8694525/Marlborough-farmers-vie-for-place-in-nationals though I'll have to have a few words about being beaten by a girl

Morning pub, I haven't had the time to pop in recently but as I had the foresight to book today off for sobering up... I thought I'd pop in the pub!
I hope you're all well?
Pete, maybe your dad just needs a new vintage tractor?
Had a great weekend meeting old faces and plenty of new ones too, it's just the best group of people I've ever had the privilege of being involved with. Missed some faces too.
Hey Prop! Any news on that charity? I have €25 left over from the weekend that's looking for a good cause.

I managed to sneak yesterday off and also managed to work from home today. Some big changes taking place in the job at the moment that will see me over the UK (my manager will be there) So I have to do a big analysis today now to justify keeping the numbers on my team up.
Delightful.
Great meeting ya over the weekend PJ. Was a belter so it were.

Not normally one for virtual pubs. (strange concept but hey why not, no one dies) Nice to meet all you new (to me) people. Sorry I didn't get to talk to you all but the in and out nature (ooer) of my visit meant that it was unlikely.

Don't joke Jenny!
The week before the Ulster v Leinster game a few seasons ago we were at a meeting at the son's school. They were talking about using the internet safely.
The looks I got when I admitted I was meeting up with 4 men that weekend whom I had meet on-line and that one of them was staying at my house!!!!!
It was the talk of the school gates for months!!!

In it's purest context it is a tiny bit difficult shall we say. But sure we are all well used to it at this stage so I don't get as many funny looks now a days.
I believe my family had been planning an intervention at some point in the early stages.

All praise to gibbo and Cari in the early days for 'running the bar' and creating an on line vibe where everyone could trust each other. That led to suggested meet ups at club level, and then onto the big HC weekends.
Cassidys was a hoot after the game, and I understand that several people were somewhat wobbly by the end of the night.

"...you have to stay on because you're an inspiration not just to me, but to all, the boys around you and the supporters as well'
clearly has no idea that he has done anything wrong. That's the really disappointing part, that the message about head injury is just not getting through.
