The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Pyongyang in a bid to persuade Kim Jong Un to pack away the missiles, grab a beer and watch the rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Donal Walsh, Chris & the late Hannah Eaton, the retiring Marcus Horan, the recently hospitalised Schalk Burger (with meningitis), the recuperated Jacques Burger, and the three-peating ANBL champion NZ Breakers

No MrsP, I'm back to the drug service, though for a different Trust this time. Means I get my CRB check done, which will be useful for other temp jobs once I've finished this one. Though I have just signed up for a 12 month maternity cover so I won't be needing anything new for a while! Also means I can do my AMSPAR Medical Terminology course through them too

Does one CRB check cover you for everything?
Here we have to get a new one for each agency. It's a real fiasco. I have had them for school, athletics and church. Such a waste of resources.

In my place I had four different security checks and had to do three of them again when I moved buildings/department. Oh well it's not like I've anything to hide anyway, it was just a palava.
Swanny - loving the red hair. I'd highly recommend Loréal Feria colour Plum Power Oh and congratulations on your new job.

Crb's have now gone onto a database where you should only ever need one every 3 years.

Sorry MrsP, finished work and headed home just after I posted. I'm not sure how much it'll cover me for but it will cover any NHS job, which is what I wanted. The agency has had a couple of jobs I've fancied but couldn't do as they required a current CRB check.
Thanks Cari the red started gradually last year and has gotten more red each time! I cheat though and get my hairdresser to do it. I made such a mess the one time I did it myself I was banned from my own bathroom Very pleased about the job, and slightly surprised. I didn't think it went that well. Just goes to show doesn't it? They liked my candour and honesty apparently. In truth I just talked them into submission!

Swanny - I couldn't afford the hairdressers every six weeks! I don't mind doing it myself anyway. I've been doing it for nearly 15 years.

I can't either in truth Cari, but I seem to manage to justify it somehow. Now I've given up smoking it's easier to justify, it doesn't cost me as much as cigs over the same period would have so it's become my treat to myself.

Oh well done on giving up the cigs. How long have you done that for? I've given up five years ago this August.

Nowhere near as long as you! I gave up on my birthday so about 8 weeks. I did fall off the wagon a couple of weekends ago slightly but that's been it, managed in Dublin ok. I do have one of the electric ones for emergencies so I probably shouldn't say I've completely quit yet but progress is being made

What a couple of "quitters" you 2 are!
In the best possible sense of course!
Have either of you ever tried e-salon?

Well if it's Ladies Night an attractive rugby player has me go weak...I'm watching him getting his dislocated knee put into place. I love 24hrs in A & E though. Channel 4 do some cracking documentaries fairdos.
Swanny - that's great, although I've never smoked a cig since I gave up because I knew I could easily start again...oh wait, I did have a funny cig in Amsterdam which I didn't like though...

It did me a favour Cari, in a really odd way. It was utterly vile, and it stank. Didn't make me feel in any way better either, which is great, I actually hated it.

No you didn't but that doesn't surprise me. His parents are farmers I think and are involved in local food produce and that sort of thing so I can see why he'd be there. Or was he the prize Irish beef on show?
Morning!
Flippin' gorgeous day in the Diff. A little bit cooler than you'd think though as I discovered at half seven this morning walking to town in my Ulster shirt...I've been taking the pee out of Leinster a bit on here by saying that Ulster have the upper hand having an honorary former Ospreylian on their side. Well, he does have the experience of beating Leinster in the league final... It's only fair that the O's hand over the trophy to Tommy... Hope the folks over the bridge enjoy the Jeff Final as well. Sounds like we could have two great matches this arvo!
Have a great day yawl.

I will hopefully see both finals Cari. Off to the pub in Ealing in about an hour to watch them.
London is full of germans going to the Champions League final at Wembley tonight. I hope they behave themselves.

Did get to see very much of the game.
Well done Leinster.
Great acheivement to get the double (or is it the triple with the B&I cup?).
We have had a fantastic day up until the final whistle.
So proud of the boys.
Enjoy lads!

Mrs P, the boys could have and should have won it. The Refs call on the penalty try was awful, Diack's brain fart was costly and the Heaslip try was a bit soft. Leinster were rattled on occasion and as relieved as they were delighted at the end. I still think electing to play in the RDS was very brave and more than anything cost you the title.

Why do you think things would have been different in Lansdowne Road Glas?
Anyway. This team have come through so much together that goes so far beyond what happens on a pitch that I am soooo proud of them. To have played the way they did and win the league after the events of September. Some men!

I think Lansdowne would have enabled Leinster supporters to out number Ulster considerably.
I still think it was a smart move given the unavailability of Ravenhill.
Starnge thing is I am not as disappointed as I thought I would be.
Just immensly proud of how they have handled themselves this season.
No amount of silverware would ever adequately reflect what they have overcome.
Gone, but never forgotten Nev!

That's in no small part down to how they've played though. They topped the league playing a good brand of rugby and relying on team spirit as much as names. It was just bridge too far tonight.

I think what will come out is that Hartley was aiming his comments at a Tigers player. He was looking at a tigers player in the aftermath of the scrum.

I say either ban him for saying that to the ref or for being the pot that calls the kettle black!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Pyongyang
I'm proud, but I'm hurting. Last year was different in that we gave it everything but were outplayed. This year we know that side had nothing we couldn't have overcome but we were too indisciplined and didn't take the chance. I mean we gave 4 penalties away in the first 7 minutes. An incredibly poor start. Then we battered them physically but couldn't break them down.
Two heartbreaking Final defeats in two seasons; hard to say which is worse- knowing you couldn't have won the game or knowing you could have/should have. Being beaten out of the gate or letting a 50/50 game slip through your fingers
I wanted us to do it for Nevin, but I know he would be proud of his teammates. He would probably be the first to crack a joke on the team bus on the way home to draw a wry smile from his disappointed colleagues. We should be proud of our team and I believe they will deliver us silverware next season- stronger and closer together for this exceptionally testing season. It seems like a long summer to nurse that, but when it comes around again you always launch yourself back into it.

P.S. Gatland could be forgiven for looking at the Hartley situation and thinking it gives him a chance to rectify a mistake he's made; Hartley may or may not have addressed himself to Wayne Barnes but he's shown again why we thought he was too much of a liability to tour in the first place.
"If you can keep your head when all around are losing theirs..."
Hartley in a Lions test is a ticking clock. If he gets done fans from every nation should feel like they've dodged a bullet.

It will be a bit too cold for a dip in a few weeks, Cari... but maybe the water will still be 'slightly' warm up in Bananaland.

I'm sure he would fit in (them) well here... The Bondi Icebergs can take him for a swim if he likes.
We have this 'thing' about budgie smugglers over here. Our next PM (who is likely to win in September) is a member of North Steyne SLSC. They wear them for work. Photographers and cartoonists have a field day with the 'Mad Monk', Tony Abbott... or as the current PM calls him - Mr Rabbit.

Morning. Shock - there were tries (3) in the T14 semis. Bigger shock - Castres humbled Clermont 25-9 in Nantes.
Commisserations to (again).
Toulon beat Toulouse 24-9 in the other semi.
I have a soft spot for Castres as it was my first non-UK HC trip. It's a lovely town and we were made very welcome. I hope they beat Toulon in the final.

Hi Hound - I have to say I love how Castres manage to do so consistently well without splashing the cash in the same way that Toulouse, Racing, Toulon or Clermont do.
I think I heard that their coaching team have been snapped up by Racing Metro for next year.

Hi stag. Yeah, that's right, Laurent Labit and Laurent Travers will take over at Racing next season.
When you consider that Castres have lost the likes of Nallet, Ducalcon, Masoe, Tekori, Tillous-Borde and Steve Kefu in recent seasons it is amazing that they regularly qualify for the HC.

I can't ever remember them having a truly big name but they always seem to be around that 3rd - 5th place position. Very tough in a league that boasts Clermont, Toulon, Toulouse, Racing, Perpignan, Biarritz and Stade Francais.
