It's £24.5m, rising to £29m for Teixeira. He wants Chelsea, not Liverpool, so can see another Willian type deal going down here.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Yeah no chance he is coming to Liverpool. Chelsea to swoop in and seal the deal after us chasing for the next 10 days, then liverpool to re-sign Peter Crouch on deadline day.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
I am actually surprised Liverpool have gone for a big signing in January. I was sure that the club would stay relatively quiet, give the players here a chance to show themselves under Klopp and then bigger moves in the summer.
Imagine it's a combination of injuries meaning a new face would be great news and trying to trump any clubs who would likely have bid in the summer by getting him early.

Unless he want's to play him up top?(To be honest don't know enough about him to say whether or not that is a good idea). Always thought he played midfield though.

I imagine it's because he has pace and scores goals from that area, which we have really lacked. We have Coutinho, Firminio, Lallana and Ibe for those positions, but Ibe is the only one with real pace and only Coutinho has scored any goals and not enough.
I also think it's important to create depth in the squad and give options on the bench. I think Liverpool with a full squad do actually have a decent first eleven and bench, but I don't think signing Texeira and putting Lallana on the bench for example would be a huge shame, would give more options.
Not everything has to be one in and one out.

Never seen him play up top for Shaktar always seems to play behind Eduardo. Firmino plays up top for Brazil so maybe going for that partnership. He isn't really that pacey he ain't slow that being said, More of a Coutinho dribbler.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Liverpool have rejected Swansea's approach for Joe Allen.
Makes sense, I'm not a huge fan of Allen but he's a very useful squad member at this point. Considering the club is still in four competitions, he'll likely be required and he's also a decent runner to bring off of the bench.
That said, he's got 18 months left on his deal, as soon as Rodgers left the talk of a new contract died and I imagine he wants a lot more football than he is getting. Expecting he'll leave in the summer and Grujic will take his place in the squad. Never really asserted himself onto the squad, not good enough and too injured to stake any regular first team place.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Pedro is supposedly trying to leave Chelsea, Valencia an option. Imagine that'll wait until the summer, depending on the manager they bring in and if Pedro can show anything over the next five months.
That's been a really poor transfer, bar his debut he's been practically anonymous.
Chelsea also forgot to put in any kind of sell-on clause into the Lukaku deal, meaning if he is sold in the next couple of years for £40 million plus, Chelsea will get nothing. That's a crazy oversight! £28 million at the time seemed like a good deal, but surely considering his early promise, his age and the fact he was signing for Everton must have triggered some idea that maybe in the future he could move on for a bigger fee?

Sky sources understand Alex Teixeira tells Shakhtar Donetsk he wants to leave the club and his preferred destination is Liverpool. I expect he was informed first, that Chelsea did not want him.

Liverpool seem heavily Linked with Teixeria and Ter Stegen. Would love to land both, would settle for one, am expecting neither..
Also need that new CB, although I doubt that alone will be enough to sort out the set piece issues Liverpool have. Seems to be a mental issue as much as anything.

Yeah the previous two would be great signings, just can't see the latter though. If we were to sign Ter Stegen, it seems much more likely to happen in the summer. Unfortunately with Mignolet signing a new contract, I just don't see it.
I don't think a new centre back is going to be signed, nor really should they be. Once Skrtel and Lovren are back, there'll be 5 centre backs in the first team, not counting Ilori. Imagine Joel Matip will get a pre-contract agreement and we'll see one of Lovren, Skrtel or Sakho leave.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Would ship Ilori straight back out again. Understand why Klopp brought him back but he's done nothing to suggest he'd warrant staying. I'm hoping that, like Firmino, Lovren has finally found his feet but am baffled by Klopp's support of Mignolet and would love to see exactly what it is that has everyone gooey eyed over him. Don't think he made a save of note on Saturday and whilst the weekend was one of the games where the blame could not be laid solely at his door, I still have my doubts about his ability to keep the ball out of the net when the defence invariably lets him down again.
Am struggling to recall when we last had a defence that could be relied on...Hansen and Lawro?

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Err Liverpool were notorious for their fantastic defence under Benitez. Carragher and Hyypia were a fantastic partnership.
Ramires is supposedly leaving for £25 million to China. Good money, but Ramires is a very decent squad option because of his work-rate and versatility. I know Hiddink isn't a fan but it's possible whoever is brought in the summer would prefer to keep him. If £25 million is the actual transfer fee offered though, seems too good for Chelsea to say no.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Why neither Sami or Carra have been brought in as defensive coaches I've no idea. Carra would have ensured we got the title in 13/14 and I'd love to know if he was approached by Rodgers at any stage. My mate bloody loves Hyppia, says he's his favourite Liverpool player of all time.
Guest- Guest
Re: January Transfer Window 2016
I imagine Jamie Carragher is on a lot of money at Sky and probably has more of an interest in being a pundit than he does a coach at this stage, particularly with Gary Neville gone, he can become Sky's main man.
I presume Sami Hyypia probably wants to stick to management for now.
That's not to mention the fact that we have no idea what either would be like as defensive coaches, their playing careers don't count for that much when it comes to coaching.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Great deal for Chelsea. At first you think what's he doing, but money talks & he's won the Portuguese league, Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League & Champions League, so not much else to really strive for in European football. I hear Gervinho is also heavily linked to a move to Chinese football.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
Steve Sidwell has joined Brighton on loan until the end of the season. Makes sense really, not getting a look in at Stoke. Problem he has really is that he's not particularly good at anything, he's a worker, but he's not very creative or tackling all the time, he's just kind of there. I think he'll probably do well in the Championship though.
Anyone else remember when he signed for Chelsea? That was weird.

Re: January Transfer Window 2016
AC Milan supposedly want rid of Balotelli already, Liverpool aren't interested in having him back, West Brom have said they're not interested after rumours said they were. That leaves West Ham of the rumoured teams to have had a look at him.
Imagine he'll end up in Turkey or China. He's only 25 but I think his career is already close to ruined, unless he has a significant attitude change I don't think he's ever going to be a success.

Reports now that West Ham have signed Buruk Yilmaz for 6 million Euros, so about £4.5 million which is decent price for a forward that has scored a lot of goals in Turkey and in the
Champions League a couple of years ago.

I do think Townsend is a decent signing for Newcastle, he'll be fired up and raring to go, he's got pace and a decent shot on him. However £12 million is quite a lot for him, particularly when Tottenham are quite clearly not even using him. Obviously Newcastle are being driven by the fear of relegation.

Fact is, the club already know Moussa Sissoko is going in the summer, to either Napoli or AC Milan for like £20m, so we need a replacement already in. He's English, has the pace that Moussa brings & is actually a genuine winger, unlike Moussa on that right hand side.

If get Yilmaz & he settles into the PL you won't need Batshuayi He's quality that being said i understand it guessing your trying to bring Dimitri's friends in to stop him leaving inevitably.

He's 30 though. If he settled quick we'd be laughing, but if we get Batshuayi we have an absolute star on our hands and make some waves.
Not sure Payet will go anywhere any time soon. 28, loved here and loving his football, new stadium and chairmen who are all about image. It's gonna take a hell of a lot of money, and combined with his age it just seems unlikely.

Manchesters United and City are both obsessed with age, as are Arsenal. Chelsea are the only concern, Liverpool frankly are not enough of a lure any more.
