The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Gibbo's Ma and Brad Thorn above the bar!

You're welcome. Well I just watched a compilation of Tommy's tries and that made me feel a mucho better. I reckon he'll grab the Six Nations record tomorrow...

Have a nice evening Swanny...
What, a whole bottle? you'll be duelling banjos shortly!
Perfect day in Sydney. Summer in early autumn. Huge week at work - very successful winning 2 large Tenders and possibly a 3rd next week. I'm helping out a builder mate but still doing my other work which is moving along well too. Surprisingly, things are under control at the moment.
A couple of good Super Rugby games on later today. I tipped against NSW in Dunedin. I just have the feeling the Highlanders are on a bit of a roll and have their tails up. Waratahs are probably capable of winning too but I just feel they'll get pipped.
Reds should cruise and win big at home.
Brumbies will thrash the Cheetahs in Canberra.
Sharks should have enough to beat the Lions.
I'm predicting the Blues' poor start to continue with a loss to the Bulls.
Last night - another gutsy win for the Chiefs overs the Crusaders and the Canes demolished the Force in Perth. (hot day there... 38 deg; 35 at kick off!)
Looking forward to 6N (early tomorrow here). I've bitten the bullet and tipped Wales to rack up some serious points against Italy.
Ireland by 15 and France by 11 in the other matches.
Enjoy your weekends everyone!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Jaysus! What a shower of shoite down The Rec tonight.
(Seen that LSG v.naughty!)
Man, something has got to give.
If Bath fail to make the top 6 (which they almost certainly will), I am going to run stark bollix naked across The Rec at the final home game with a banner unfurling from me arris reading "Geech must Go!".
He's signed too many sicknotes to be credible at club level, he doesn't hold the same kind of magic in the long haul as he does in "tour mode", and it's quite plain to me, that he's more interested in his own profile than he is in the success of the club that means almost as much to me as my family.
If I do have to strip off and make a nudey protest, I reckon Barkley would have a stroke; but he'd have to feckin catch me first... fat chance no mark - or should that be no chance fat mark?
Get feckin REAL Barf!
BASIIIIIIIICSSS!!!!!!
Start at the feckin front and work backwards.

Ta for tea and cakes MrsP, total bollix it was.
I can't understand it to be honest, that Tiggers team was there for the taking, but for whatever reason best known to SIMc, he left Perenise on the bench and watched Tiggers rip the Bath front row a new one.
It's all well and good playing a front row that is menacing in the loose (Mears scored the Bath try), but the overwhelming input from anybody's front row is going to be dictated by how well they get over the ball at scrum time.
I'm hacked off to be brutally honest, thanks for listening.

Good morning.
I'm still very poorly, but I have to go out to get some remedies. Going to lie on the sofa bed in the living room then for the rugby later. Hope everyone has a good Six Nations day whatever you're doing.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Where does the LV Cup sit amongst the other comps? On par or below the Amlin?
You guys have so many levels of competition!
Can someone please enlighten me with the pecking order?
Internationals
6N - 4N (RC)
Heineken Cup - Super Rugby
Pro 12 - European Challenge Cup
The Prem - Top 14 - All Ireland League, Welsh Premier Division, Scottish League Championship, Curry Cup, NZ ITM Cup,
LV Cup?
Brisbane Rugby Premiership
Shute Shield (Sydney Rugby Premiership)
Is that kind of right? Or is the Pro 12 & Amlin Cup regarded as being below the main leagues of each country?

Morning all by the way...
The Highlanders win by 1 point, 18-17. They've played very well so far. 3/3. I really like their style of play. Ruthless and brutal, throwing it around and going forward just about every time. Always going for the try but they need to improve their kicking... missed a few today.
Reds on next. Sun is setting here. It's been hot in Brisbane today.
They're a very confident side and I'd expect them to win convincingly.

Just been involved with a nasty dispute with an Ulster fan on Facebook, who insisted we should all stop hammering Declan Kidney, who he called the best coach in Ireland. Needless to say I was pretty ruthless.

My plan of ending up bang on mid table is going astonishingly well, considering how crap I am at SG four places out ain't bad.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I'm all over the place.
Doing well in Super Rugby but then either consistently middling - or languishing down the bottom in all of the others.
Not an easy thing to do. It takes some brilliant predicting skills and some real shocking ones as well.
I've just counted my SC performances (the little red and green boxes for all the SC tipping comps).
Won 134 Lost 135.
That's about right I'd say. 49.99%. 80+% in some, 40% in others.
So overall, I'm doing fairly average. Very Average in fact. That's quite a mean feat. It's hard to maintain such pin-point precision mediocrity. I'm quite proud of this.

oooo rugby is here.
Still far more nervous about the Scarlets match tomorrow then I am about Wales' today, although the U20's match shook me up a bit. A lot closer that one then I thought it was going to be.
Hope there are 2 great games again today, and pob lwc to everyone's teams
Heading out in about an hour to go for a long walk, bit annoyed it isn't as sunny as they said it was going to be!

What a silly thing to get into a "nasty dispute" about whether you want Kidney to stay or go.
Honest Willy thats a bit sad.

Watching Toulouse v Castres. Two early Castres tries saw them 14-0 up; the second dubbed a 'Tommy le Bowe' interception. ST back to 10-14 with Castres' skipper Masoe binned two minutes from ht.

Afternoon all, I've had a busy morning, early start getting to Heathrow for the England cricket team press conference, and then typing up 17 minutes of recorded Q & A takes a while!
Just need to get that published, have some lunch and see if I have time to meet Hound before kick-off in Wales vs Italy (I may watch that at home and head over to the Wheat Sheaf for the Ireland vs Scotland game).
Rava, I've done the Jamesons' tour. They're very cunning, they give you some Jamesons to taste then offer you Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker for comparison. Talk about picking easy targets

ST 17-14 up. Cencus Johnston three yard rumble, converyed by McAllister. Mssoe's binning is costly - 14 points shipped by Castres.
Castres back in front. The 7 throws a dummy off a scrum and goes over. 17-21.

Well done Wales
Sorry you're under the weather Cari, hope it passes quickly.
Congrats on the tenders LB, and good luck with the 3rd one.
I've been out this morning and bought 40th birthday balloons and a banner for tomorrow. My sister may well ex-communicate me!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I have another bet that probably wont come to pass. The sides to be level at half time and Ireland to win. 18 to 1.
And my final one is Ireland to win by 6-11 points. 9 to 2.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
wooo I have Best and Gray in my fantasy team! #lotsofpoints
Gutted Scotland conceded just at HT, 3 points in it would have been much more interesting going into the 2nd half.
And I can't help it, would love Scotland to get a win today, would really allow them to build on all the improvements they've made so far. Plus, I just love how they go about trying to play the game.
Chuffed with the Wales win too. ONly had us to win by 17 so thought it would be close. Full credit to Italy aswell, they defended like demons.

Its really funny. Ireland have very poor attack throughout the 6 Nations but are scoring loads of tries.
3 tries against Scotland (so far - maybe more)
2 tries against France
5 tries against Italy
2 tries against Wales

I think you answered your own question (was trying to be ironic). I wonder had Wayne Barnes not blown that whistle in Dublin would the glass be half full rather than half empty.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ref question Stag. What was your call on the Tommy Bowe effort. Was it double movement or too long in getting the ball down. Also was the Sottish player required to release him after the tackle was completed?

an answer we shall never know I don't think. Tis in the nature of fans to be contrary.
Weird 2nd half that, not sure I enjoyed it, twas a funny one. Well done Ireland on the win though, Ryan was v good, impressed with POM too.
Hard luck Scotland though, so much endeavour but no end result

Billy, good question that, me and my mam couldn't figure it out!
1. Did Bowe have to release the ball, as he was tackled?
2. Did MOrrison have to release him?
3. Which one had to do that first?
4. Did he have to ground it immediately?
5. Was it a double movement?
Funny one that.

Kearney made some cracking runs again, that guy is seriously, seriously on form, fair play.
Hope Jones is okay too, that was such a nasty clash of heads.

My own call - Tommy Bowe held up over the try line. 5m scrum.
My take on it was that he was held for a long enough time to be deemed "held up".
